Restaurant Wars - It's time! This season Padma takes all the limitations off the table aand the chefs can make as much food as they want and shop wherever they choose. The winning chefs from last week have 48 hours to pick their teams and complete their restaurants.
Enjoy the show!

OMG, Why. Why. Why did he pick LeeAnne to be on his team? And Malarkey instead of Melissa? Ugh.

He needed Melissa! That was such a huge miscalculation! Kevin was not going to pass her up twice! I mean the guy freaks out over plates - he’s obsessed with winning!
okay I admit I have a bias against Kevin and it’s showing tonight. I think he’s slightly cheating to do a concept so much like a restaurant he has now, but that’s on the producers. They left him the whole to exploit. But my issue with that restaurant which he’s doing here is that he chooses food for the customer instead of letting them choose. You can do family style with orders being taken. Tom does Craft that way. I don’t like Kevin’s arrogance in saying that if he makes it, every table will eat it.

Well, damn. The Team of Misfit Toys is doing an awesome job, while The A Team isn't doing so hot. Who would have thunk it?

Well I have to say I was happy with the outcome! Had Kevin had everything on the menu that he did, but let diners choose what each table wanted instead of telling them they wanted it all, Karen probably would have gone home for her dish!

What an excellent episode. I too, thought Gregory was insane for not choosing Melissa and missed what he said when he was asked why he picked Malarkey. But I bow to Gregory for being a genius. I loved his menu and I would go there in a heartbeat. I was also moved by all the Haitian-Americans feeling proud that their cuisine was being represented on Twitter.
Kevin and his 'plantation cuisine' (cringe) menu - 12 courses and none that I got excited about even thinking of eating. Maybe the dilly beans? Meh.

Yeah, I was instantly turned off by "Plantation Cuisine" and was really hoping the other team would pull it out, which they did. Kevin's team had too many damn plates. Gregory also (smartly) didn't repeat his main dish whereas Kevin did and it didn't hold up to the original.
Karen's dish was mad nasty, and her attempt to blame everyone else except herself for it was kinda vile. I do give Kevin props for taking responsibility and saying he was the one that needed to go.

I do too. But he really deserved to go to LCK. I mean, 12 plates? And the restaurant did look very Miami Vice. These were all his choices. And just the name 'Country Captain' serving 'plantation cuisine' makes me very uncomfortable. Probably not the best place for me.
Now that Eric is in LCK I'm really pulling for Gregory and I love his POV. Haitian food! How have I been missing this all of my life?

Gregory's passion for his food is infectious!
After Kevin's freak out over the plates, I also thought it was notable that the judges did not say a peep about place settings at either place. It got me thinking about plates at various restaurants. I think that all in all, a bad plate choice can hurt a restaurant - like if I went to a fine dining restaurant and they served my food on one of those corelle plates my mom used to get at the grocery store for turning in stamps, it would throw me off. Aside from that, people pay so much attention to the food they don't notice that. So Kevin choosing THAT to flip out about to me showed how entitled he felt to be the winner.
I also think that now Stephanie is the only one of this all-star group who can claim to have never lost restaurant wars. That's a nice accomplishment for the woman whose weak spot last week was being a private chef instead of a restaurant chef!

beerbelly Haitian food is delicious. There's some really good restaurants in Brooklyn (Bed-Stuy) and the fantastic Le Soleil off 10th street in Manhattan. Hell's Kitchen used to be a heavy Haitian neighborhood and Le Soleil is one of the few Haitian restaurants that are left there.

So in the end, was it Kevin who was nuked?

So in the end, was it Kevin who was nuked? Yes. Tom asked him flat out why they should not eliminate him given that it was his concept, his food. He did the right thing and said that Tom was right and he would not throw anyone else under the bus to save himself. With that Padma told him to pack his knives.

I'm so embarrassed to say that we have been neighbors for some time now. They actually moved closer to me. And I've never gone! Which of course now I am regretting. I worry about them because they were never busy and never had a delivery presence.

People argue and say that the Bed-Stuy/Brooklyn places are better but Le Soleil isn't a bad place to have a meal.
