Season 1 Episode 2 - "S.T.R.I.P.E." - May 25, 2020 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(TV_series)I find Courtney annoying and a bit of a brat. She dismisses Pat for being a coward and only a sidekick. I really hate that attitude and saw it in episode 1 from Starman himself. I like the sidekicks, they are normally more interesting and more heroic as they don't have super powers or cosmic staffs and yet put themselves in danger to support the flashier "hero". I also find Courtney's arrogance overwhelming, for a person who has not fighting skills does not know the full story or lay of the land yet is determined to just walk up to an experienced bad guy and kill for vengeance is stupid. The most practical people in this show are Pat, his son Mike, and wife Barbara. However, it is a nice take on the Justice Society and a young female super hero so there is hope for improvement in the main character.

Season 1 Episode 3 - "Icicle" - June 1, 2020 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(TV_series)Courtney's refusal to listen to Pat drives me crazy she is in effect totally responsible for Joey's death and his fathers, because she just could not leave it alone. She is also too arrogant or stupid to realize that she is responsible.

Looks like CW has really found their niche. They're all about superheros now. At least the vampires etc. seem to be being phased out.

Looks like CW has really found their niche. They're all about superheros now. At least the vampires etc. seem to be being phased out. Well they also do Riverdale, Katy Keene, Nancy Drew, Into the Dark which are more young adult suspense/getting into the working world/mystery type shows. At least they have a niche and the majority of their stuff is pretty good quality. They also go for girl empowerment and you do have some really strong role models for and most shows don't do that. For as much as I harp against Supergirl and Stargirl the females stand up for themselves in those shows and they do tend to have a younger age bracket as their viewership.

I'm not into superhero movie/TV shows, so it's just not my thing. I did however, watch Supergirl for a season, but got bored with it. I do watch Riverdale all the time. I like it a lot. Like all shows, it does occasionally go down a direction I don't like, but finds it's way back. There have been other shows on CW that I watched & liked, but they all seemed to last only 1 season.
The main thing I've noticed about CW shows is that they seem to be about young hot people having sex. That is their focus. I prefer storylines. Watching young hot people having sex just isn't my thing.
Some of their shows have had great storylines. Riverdale is one of them.

Season 1 Episode 4 - "Wildcat" - June 8, 2020 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(TV_series)Courtney starts her search for new members of the Justice Society. Watch out for that pink pen I don't think it is that innocent. We see Yolanda's backstory. This touches on cyber bulling, sexting, victim shaming. I hate bullies. Sexting is dumb but kids get caught up in doing stupid things and in Yolanda's case it was young love. However Henry didn't show her pics to the school Henry's vicious now girlfriend did. It was a vicious act that eliminated her romantic rival, and assured that Cindy would be class president. What is worse is that Cindy bullies Yolanda and victim shames her. I hate it when girls rip on girls for the sake of a boy. Also Yolanda's own parents feel she has disgraced the family and blame her. Good thing Yolanda didn't get raped because that would be her fault too. Good think Yolanda is Hispanic and not Middle Eastern as from the way her mom, dad, and grandma behave I think they would have honor killed her. Yolanda trying out the Wildcat costume and it's powers is fun and a highlight of the episode. New villian, the Fiddler and some kind of DragonLord??? The Mayor's wife leaves town now that her husband and son are dead, but Pat finds her damaged car and cat in the junkyard. mmmmm.....

Season 1 Episode 5 - "Hourman and Dr. Mid-Nite" - June 15, 2020 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(TV_series)I like Beth Champman for Dr. Midnite. It is a refreshing change to see a young African American girl portrayed as nice smart kids whose super power is that she cannot stop talking, instead of the skinny, vampy, usually popular mean girl with the hair, clothes, and boys. Basically the smart kid that no one wants to be friends with in high school but ends up being very rich and successful later in life. This episode highlights another backstory this time of Rich Harris aka Tyler the son of Rex Tyler, who was Hourman. I just wish the tree had not been killed. Don't blame the tree because it stopped your parents car. It was not the trees fault. I am surprised the Uncle did not just take the $50,000 sell the farm and dump Rich into a foster home. It's not as if the dead parents would have stopped him. I just want to be around when Courtney's real dad shows up and she has to realize Starman is not her dad.

season 1 Episode 6 - "The Justice Society" - June 22, 2020 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(TV_series)Please Cameron does not have a clue, all we saw was that he had icy breath when he blew out the candle on the birthday cake slice. It doesn't he knows anything. I detest folks who in recaps do not just state what happened and instead put in assumptions. I like Barbara and Mike bonding over his science fair project and overloading on sugar. I also liked Courtney complaining about her team and how they don't listen to her to Pat. It took a loooooong while for her to get it. I did like the fight between the Sportsmaster, Tigress and the team. Yolanda at least has some fighting skills and they did a good job choreographing the fight. It was fun, athletic, fast and leaned toward cat like abilities for both ladies. Good job. Courtney's fight scenes are also good, with her gymnastic skills and staff fighting skills. Hourman and Sportsmaster. Again who ever thought up the fight sequences with Sportsmaster congratulations. Well done. Who knew baseballs and lacrosse balls could be so effective in a fight. It was sad that Rick as Hourman just didn't get that rage and super strength are no match for skill and experience. Rick's utter disrespect of Pat makes me glad that he got beat up, the kid deserved it. The team is lucky no one got hurt or killed. I have a feeling the show will be much better season 2 as they are currently world building and that takes a while. Greg Berlanti as executive producer has done a good job putting a string of superhero shows on the air both on cable and streaming services. I luv the consistency of the shows, and the look and feel. I do hope they improve Dr. Midnite's costume is so needs an update.

Season 1 Episode 7 - "Shiv Part One" - June 29, 2020 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(TV_series)After Courtney's frustration that the new JSA members don't listen to her, don't follow the plan, at the end of the last episode this episodes focus is training for the newbies as well as Courtney. In the middle of Pat's lecture about the ISA Courtney shows total disrespect to Pat and shows off her fighting abilities on training dummies Pat set up for the team totally blowing the concept of team training. Liked the smaller story arcs of Henry Jr sitting with his comatose dad in the hospital and of seeing his telepathy develop. Also liked Cameron asking Courtney out to Homecoming. Finally Mike, Pat's son, tells off Courtney to stay away from his dad. Funny about blended families. Barbara not liking that Pat is teaching Courtney how to drive and Mike is being territorial about his dad. Basically this is origin story of Cindy. You know she is lonely. I think she was responsible for her mom's death. It looks as if her father experimented on her as a child. But she is still a vicious mean girl. Nice to see that Henry Jr is her assignment and that she really is not interested in him. I liked the mystery of the janitor. Prince Valiant anyone?

Season 1 Episode 8 - "Shiv Part Two" - July 6, 2020 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(TV_series)OK you don't need to drive 80 mph to hit a lamp post enough damage can be done without that speed and that 1950's Buick does not have an air bag. Bit of an over kill. Some great scenes this episode with Pat having a heart to heart with the Cosmic Staff. Cindy visiting an injured Courtney. Dr Midnight's AI commenting that Pat is 14 lbs heavier then he was 20 years ago. The Icicle scenes are chilling I wonder if the Reilly character would thaw out and the Icicle would play a bit with him? Liked that Beth was able to stop Rick from going off and she had a plan. It's the quiet smart ones with minimal powers that end up being the best characters on these shows. I don't know about the Henry Jr character he does not seem to be the brightest bulb in the bunch. Oh, Courtney again goes off half cocked without all the intell. That is going to get the girl is so much more trouble then she is now. What prediction ... really the folks who post in wiki need to be neutral and report what happens not speculation.

Season 1 Episode 9 - Brainwave" - July 13, 2020 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(TV_series)Henry does come across a bit dumb even with telepathic powers. I wonder if he will ever clear the air with Yolanda? However he should have done that when the pictures were first released. There is no excuse for that. I have a feeling that Jordan wouldn't mind having Barbara as wife number two. I do wonder how well the ISA's plan to create New America will work with an untapped and untrained telepath? There is the potential that it would burn out or kill Henry.

Season 1 Episode 10 "Brainwave Jr." - July 20, 2020 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(TV_series)Liked seeing how Pat and Barbara met. Was really not expecting Brainwave to kill his own child, that he actually could link to telepathically. It's one thing to kill a spouse but a child?

Season 1 Episode 11 - "Shining Knight" - July 27, 2020 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(TV_series)Well folks just had two examples of how not to deal with people who are obviously dealing with mental issues. First the farmer who is extremely hostile to Justin then later Rex when Justin appears at Pat's auto shop the Pit Stop. I was so hoping the cosmic staff could bring back Justin's memories. I hope Mike (Pat's son) can be allowed to know what the heck is going on.

Season 1 Episode 12 - "Stars & S.T.R.I.P.E." part 1 - August 3, 2020 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(TV_series)I really liked this episode. It is all coming together. This episode had a very good feel good vibe. Some of the best scenes were with Mike Dugan (Pat's son, and Courtney's stepbrother), where he put a drill into Crusher's back, he had a chance to hold the staff, and he got to take care of the dog while everyone else went out to save the world or a least a big part of America. Luv'ed the put down Brainwave did to Cindy Ito, that no one wanted her and considered her a failed experiment. Luv'ed Principal Bowen telling her bullied son how her husband The Fiddler took care of that problem when he was a kid. Luv'ed the ISA manifesto which wanted everyone to embrace solar and wind power and universal healthcare. But does the brainwave effect kill all the kids? What exactly is an undeveloped brain? Looking forward to the finale.

Season 1 Episode 13 - "Stars & S.T.R.I.P.E." part 2 - August 10, 2020 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(TV_series)Very satisfying ending to the series. Enjoyed it all. Looking forward to season 2. Very nice scene between Courtney and Pat recognizing the father and daughter bond. Surprising bloody in regards to the body count especially for a show geared to more family friendly super hero show where the morality gets ridiculous and yes I am talking about you Supergirl. Cindy impales her father, Dragon Lord. Yolanda impales Brainwave in the throat with her claws. Mikes drives a truck into Icicle and shatters him. Surprisingly Rick; aka as Hourman, lets Solomon Grundy go. Three members of the ISA killed this episode and Anaya Bowin, last episode. Liked the last scene with it being 6 weeks later and Christmas. Hope they find a find to fix Chuck. Luv'ed seeing Beth get angry and charge to attack Icicle.

Season 2 has started and the show has already been picked up for season 3.
Luke Wilson brother of Owen Wilson (Loki) plays Pat Dugan aka Stripesy, Starman's sidekick. Filming was done in Atlanta and Luke and Owwen got to room together as Loki was being filmed in the same area.

Season 2: Summer School (2021) Episode 1 - "Summer School: Chapter One" - August 10, 2021 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(TV_series)#Season_2:_Summer_School_(2021)I must admit Courtney annoys the heck out of me. She is so sure she is right, she will get someone killed, and if she continues on her current path instead of listening to Pat she will so burn out as a superhero and have not identity outside of that. Season 2 will be 13 episodes long.

Season 2: Summer School (2021) Episode 3 - "Summer School: Chapter Three" - August 14, 2021 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(TV_series)#Season_2:_Summer_School_(2021)Liked the bit of backstory with Pat Dugan as Stripesy and how as a sidekick being left out all the time. This feeling of loneliness has been paralleled by Mikey Dugan, Pat's son, feeling left out of the JSA, and feeling miserable in a new school and new town. However Mike finds Johnny Thunder's pen and his genie/demon Thunderbolt. I have always felt the sidekicks, the so called weaker powered or nonpowered support staff that are initially considered weak and helpless usually develop into the best characters of a series. I do like how in this episode the writers are blending the serious with comic relief. The underlying theme of Thunderbolt story is to be careful what you wish for. I also like that they are showing a softer side to Shade with his last sentence in this episode regarding Elipso will kill the children. Courtney does have tendency to jump feet first into a situation without knowing the situation as Mike demonstrated when he tried to "save' the team from Shade. A bit of a side bar, I think one of the kids in the summer school is causing Yolanda's headaches.

Season 2: Summer School (2021) Episode 4 - "Summer School: Chapter Four"- August 31, 2021 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stargirl_(TV_series)#Season_2:_Summer_School_(2021)Thankfully, Courtney is tapping down a bit on her rush in and attack attitude because she is Star Girl attitude. Much of the episode is the team doing background investigation into Elipso. Courtney can be kinda of dense as in her confrontation with The Shade she does not seem to be afraid. The Shade is very scary. The other subplot is about Artemis's parents breaking out of jail to see their daughter's audition in front of a college football scout. Meanwhile Cindy is building up the ISA with new recruits. The real Charles McNider is alive an communicating with Beth Chapel through the googles, mmmmmm.

Season 2: Summer School (2021) Episode 5 - "Summer School: Chapter Five" - September 7, 2021
Cindy is still recruiting for the new junior version of the Injustice Society. Luv'ed how Lily Mahkent, Cameron's grandmother stopped Cindy from recruiting him. Looks like Jordan inherited his powers from his mother, and Cameron may have them too. I also like how Cameron rebuffed Cindy later in the episode.
This season is called Summer School and teen summers are famous for scary horror movies and Eclipso is one big horror. This is exactly what Pat Duggan wants to protect his family from and it is hopeless as all these kids think they are invulnerable and nothing can hurt them.
Liked the bonding scene between Mike and Pat.
Liked the other subplot with Beth and Rick and the team looking for Charles McNider the original Dr. Midnite.
I also like the subplot with Beth and her parents divorce. I also like it when the so called weaker side characters end up so much more interesting than the main lead super hero.

Season 2: Summer School (2021) Episode 6 - "Summer School: Chapter Six" - September 14, 2021
Luv the actor playing The shade, it is so delicious to see a seasoned actor play not so much "evil" as dangerous adding a lot of depth and layers to the character. You really want the other actors to rise to the occasion. I had that same reaction to The Flash's and Legends of Tomorrow's Captain Cold. Wentworth Miller was absolutely fabulous and now Jonathan Cake as The Shade brings so much depth to the series.
The show touches much on the secondary characters doing nothing, but in most of the superhero shows the secondary characters have to try so hard to survive and to be able to fight back and end up being more valuable and needed than the main characters. Cindy Burnam dismisses Mike, Artemis dismisses Beth, both Mike and Beth lack confidence and powers or athletic ability but they are really motivated by loneness and fear. Both Mike and Beth are smart and motivated and I look forward to seeing where the series takes them. It is interesting to note that the junior version of the Injustice Society whose members had powers, objects of power, and massive physical ability fueled by revenge were defeated if not by the new JSA by the new JSA plus The Shade plus Eclipso backstabbing them. What was an ambush with the objective of defeating and potentially killing the new JSA and Mike ended up in Isaac being eaten, Cindy being swallowed by black goo and Artemis running away.
I liked the interaction between Courtney's mom, Barbara and The Shade.
I do look forward to when the kids have much more respect to Pat.

Season 2 Episode 7 - "Summer School: Chapter Seven" - September 21, 2021
The series has been dark this season and hard to watch. I finally got through this episode. I actually liked it. It was Yolanda centric and while it seemed a Brainwave issue, Courtney did bring up a good point, was it Brainwave, was it Eclipso, or was it Yolanda's quilt over killing Brainwave that was the root cause. I personally was leaning to the theory of Brainwave invading Yolanda's mind while he was dying, it seemed a plausible.
I do think that Mrs. Montez, Yolanda's mother is an incredibly difficult person. A priest is someone you are supposed to go to when you are troubled, yet Mrs. Montez sees it as Yolanda again embarrassing the family with her silly behavior. With the quilt Yolanda is experiencing from killing Brainwave, in addition to the bullying she experienced at school, to being practically ostracized by her own family, I am surprised that Yolanda has not self harmed herself.

Season 2 Episode 8 - "Summer School: Chapter Eight" - September 28, 2021
October 18, 2021
The series has been so dark that I have put off watching the episodes or just catching bits and pieces. So just finished watching this episode and you can see Eclipso is so insidious preying on people's fears and self doubts. I did like the scenes with Solomon Grundy and Rick in the beginning of the episode developing this friendship.
I was outraged that he went after Beth Chapel. I think the reason her character resonates so well is that we all feel we are really her. However, I always like the so called weakest characters as they end up being the most heroic as they have to depend on themselves without any powers to help.
