Hated the sound of the "audience" cheering when Tyra was talking at the beginning, almost drowning her out. Get rid of that silly noise. Hated Tyra's outfits---both of them. Who is styling her? She was better this week but I really see no warmth or charisma and my question remains---who in the heck hired her and why??
I am very happy with most of the dancers---seems like overall, the group is better. I also like the prettiness of the costumes. It seems like they are going for pretty rather than sexy. I remember Dh coming into the livingroom in past years and saying "She isn't wearing very much" about a lot of the pros.
If I didn't know it was Sharna, I would not rcognize her. She seems smaller, prettier and primarily softer this year. To me she was sultry, sexy and a bit hard in former seasons. She wore another pretty dress this week so I am curious if that look will hold for her and the others.

I finally watched this week's episode. Tyra as host is really annoying me. She seems to be cutting the judges off and rushing them along so that she has time to ask awkward stupid questions of the contestants, who are out of breath from dancing. The follow up question to the backstreet boy was just one hugely awkward example. Ugh I just don't like it. I miss Tom. I want to watch the dancing so I guess I'll record it again next week and fast forward through as much of Tyra as possible.

OMG, you guys. Tyra is such a self-centered a-hole. As soon as the show started and she did her little "How fabulous am I?" pose and model walk onto the stage, the cringing started. She keeps rushing the judges' comments so there's time for her inane questions? NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK! The judges are the people whose opinions matter. We want to hear from them! The role of the host is to keep things moving smoothly. The end. When has the host ever been the focus of the show's advertising? Never, that's when. I don't buy the explanation that she was nervous and will get better, She hosted ANTM for YEARS and she was always this way - obnoxious, self-centered and always stealing focus. I wouldn't be surprised if not eliminating Carole was a producer decision. I don't know why they think people are tuning in to watch her. Seems like it's the other way You just KNOW her dance during Disney week will be something from The Lion King.

I loved ANTM, as cheesy as it was. But this isn't ANTM, and Tyra isn't Tom. I had a word game going on my iPad, it's a good distraction while she's asking questions. .. I hate to say it, but Carol was slighty better, and that's why she got to stay she's probably going to dance to something from the lion king, Disney has always been corny..I'll tune in..lol. They have some pretty good dancers this season..

There was an interview on my Comcast homepage in which Tyra responded to some barbs for "messing up" this week. She agreed that she stumbled on some words ( I don't recall) but she said that she just went on....just like the young girl who messed up some steps but kept on dancing. Why would you bring up somebody else to make sure the audience remembers that the dancer had a brief issue--- to try to spread out the blame???
As I said, I don't recall what she stumbled on but I do remember that there is NO warmth or connection in her presentations or questions and I continue to be shocked that she was given this job and the EP job. WHY???

I also HATE the way she rushes the judges and then wastes time with her “interviews”.

Looking forward to seeing Justina dance a Charleston!

I think Tyra toned it down somewhat this week. Maybe it's just the way I watched the show. I wasn't sitting there paying attention to every moment this time. I was doing other things & tried to just catch as many of the dancers as possible. Tyra wasn't a priority item. This made her easier to take. I did notice that whenever they came back from break & played the DWTS tune, I kept expecting to see Tom back on my screen. No such luck. As for the dancers, I'm really happy with them this season. They are all likable, seem to be trying & working hard. So far there are very few hard luck sob stories (I hate those. I'm here to watch them dance, not give a pity party.) Best of all, there don't seem to be any ringers or obvious "fan favorites" or emotional favorites. Everyone seems to have an equal shot. I do agree, however, with everyone else's feelings toward Tyra. She acts as if this is The Tyra Show, and the dancers are nothing more than weekly show guests. I will stick it out some more. If I can try to avoid watching Tyra as much as possible it may not be too bad.

Is this the first time, they've actually had someone do a Charleston? I know the Quickstep can often incorporate Charleston steps, but I don't think someone has done an entire Charleston dance on its own, have they?

I don't remember who, but fairly certain they have. Eta: a quick Google of that and 2 YouTube videos that popped up, both with Lindsay as the partner, show they have done the Charleston. Her partners were Jordan and Wayna. There may be others.

I also HATE the way she rushes the judges and then wastes time with her “interviews”. I didn't watch the first week so I don't know if she improved since then, but I absolutely could not believe her interview of the Backstreet Boy! It was so inappropriate and rude for her to ask him what he loves about his wife and tell him to tell her he loves her. WTH was that about!? Did she used to date him or something? That was totally obnoxious. If she's an EP, I don't know if anyone can correct her behavior, but I hope so! Plus I agree that she just needs to keep her comments to a minimum and let the judges have more time, but with her ego I don't know if that will happen. I hope this is her first and last season on the show.

As much as I miss Tom, which is loads, Erin got on my nerves now and then. She would ask a question, then turn it around to the time she danced with Max. She made it sound like it was every season..

I didn't even consider that YouTube videos would pop up in answer to my search!

I watched the first week and last week I watched the day after on Hulu, which I'll do again this week. Can't stand Tyra and this way I'm not giving ABC any rating points. Thanks to FORT, I was able to read what everyone was saying for those watching and I could see the points given and know who went home. The next day I just breezed through Tyra and most of the judges remarks and just watched the dancing.

ABC is one of the largest owners of Hulu. They make money off your viewing either way. Actually, they probably know even better when you are watching on Hulu as there are more tools for tracking viewers there. If you watch on live TV, unless you have a Nielsen meter in your home, they MIGHT know you are watching from your cable box, but otherwise would not be measuring your viewing.

Maybe the only way ANC would not know you’re watching is if you viewed the individual dances on a non-ABC YouTube channel after the show has aired. IIRC, they log OnDemand and DVR viewing now.

Simone and Sasha, Lindsey and Jordan, Lindsey and Calvin, Lindsey and Wayna, Cheryl and Terrell, Drew and Emma, Amber and Derek, Marilu and Derek, Melissa and Mark, and Whitney with Milo (2 times) and with Carlos (my fave Charleston dance and some of her best choreography IMO). I wish they would bring it back, i love the fun energy of this dance.

You are correct that on demand and DVR viewing are included in the Nielsen TV ratings. You Tube viewing is also measured by Nielsen, though it is part of digital measurement and not TV ratings. That's why most networks will go after copyright rules for anyone who posts their content. They are going to monetize your viewing no matter where you're watching. We're talking about Disney here ... they see you when you're sleeping and know when you're awake!
