I fell asleep right after Michelle’s date. So he didn’t propose to Rachel? They glossed over the racist posts and Antebellum Ball? Yikes! I just watched ATFR on Hulu. That was uncomfortable. Matt was in deep pain and Rachel still doesn’t get it... “What do you see when you look at that picture?” “Just a girl taking pictures with her friends”. She’s only contrite because she’s being called out. And her vocal fry is UNBEARABLE! I’m glad Matt wasn’t bullied into embracing her at the end. I was not impressed with Acho and his fake bro posturing with Matt.

Well, I thought that After the Final Rose was heartbreaking. Matt and Rachael both seemed miserable. Sigh! I thought Emmanuel Acho did a good job of facilitating the conversations and talking about the racial issues in a way that didn't gloss over them while strongly encouraging people to be able to explore their unconsciousness and ignorance and how that figures into perpetuating racism. I watched some of it, I thought it was very raw. I get the feeling Matt is hung up on what happened to his parents and what happened to them and maybe he was never going to propose, to anyone.I liked Rachel, I think she loves Matt. I like Michelle, she got over him fast, as is able to move on.I hope Rachel does the work needed. It's a shame in some ways, he can't help her.. Matt needs to lose that beard. I just found atfr very very awkward..and it's the last I'll be watching or recording. ( I decided that before this one aired) Let's hope the bacherolotte is a better viewing, it's just become a very different show, than I once enjoyed.

That wasn't a fun watch. That's why I watch this show, for a fun watch. Making fun of the contestants/leads, shaking my head at the stupidity & really awful dates, picking a favorite of my own, and sometimes watching a little unexpected happiness. I usually watch it like I'm watching any other scripted series show, with fictional characters & unreal situations. I usually see these people as characters instead of people. This time it was painfully clear that these were people. People who got emotionally trampled for a TV show.
Emmanuel was a great host for this. Better than I expected. No phony baloney, but rather, compassionate and respectful to everyone involved. He seemed to know how to bring out the tough questions without asking them directly. I liked how he treated the show, the viewers and the participants respectfully and seriously, rather than mocking or dismissing the show. I was kind of expecting the latter. The only problem with him was that poorly fitting suit. C'mon now, muscular guys can easily find a suit with a proper fit. The pattern only drew attention to the poor fit. I wouldn't mind seeing more of him on this show. He was a pleasant change from the usual fluff we get.
As for Rachel, she needs to step back from this show & any publicity resulting from it. She needs to cry to her family & get it out. Then put some distance between herself & the pain. It's not going to just undo itself. She also needs to take a good hard look at her blindness to the realities of life & our country's ugly past. She's not a bad person. Just a naive one who wants everything to fit into her own limited world. Someone on the show referred to her as "racially insensitive" instead of racist. That pretty much sums it up. She needs to open up & expand her sensitivity. Most of all, she needs to put Matt behind her. He's not coming back.
As to Matt, this show has done a lot of emotional damage to him. He also needs to put it and all other "Bachelor" shows behind him. Move on. Don't go back. There was a huge difference between the happy & light hearted guy who was there when the season started & the guy we saw last night. Also, did anyone else get the feeling that that big old ugly beard is there for him to hide behind? I think it's a defense mechanism that he's using as a wall to hide behind & protect him from more hurt. If he shaved it off, he'd feel more exposed & less protected. Odd how it showed up right when the sh*t hit the fan.

I'd like to see them learn from and use the fiasco of this season to make some positive and constructive changes, more than just replacing the host. However, they probably won't. This is not the first time that not carefully vetting the contestants has resulted in a negative outcome. I saw that some people were calling them "lazy" for not doing a better job of digging into the individual cast members' backgrounds, but I'm not so sure it's laziness. It's easy enough to use SM accounts as well as other resources to check out these people, but apparently they're not doing it, so I suspect they regard these "discoveries" taking place during the show as good publicity ... not "good" in the sense of favorable, but in the sense that any publicity is good publicity: it gets them attention. The sad part is people get hurt, but clearly they don't care as it could have been pretty easily avoided. Better that a racially insensitive woman is cast on a show with a black bachelor, and they are both very hurt in the process because it gets the show talked about.
Along those lines, would also like to see them cast contestants who actually might be a good match for the lead and stop casting people who obviously are included just to cause trouble and drama. What happened this season should be an opportunity to make improvements to what has become a worn-out, repetitive, and potentially destructive formula. And please, stop with the group dates that force women to punch and hit each other. It's so misogynistic (and I don't like to see men having to do that, either).

Yeah...that suit. 🧐. It absolutely transfixed me. Is that a style ...or what???

Yes the punching etc.. turned me right off( male and female) also, no need to eat weird food, that reminds me of fear factor.

I thought Emmanuel did a nice job. There were a few cringey moments, including when he tried to prompt Matt and Rachael to have one last embrace. Yikes. Yes, that suit was too tight. It didn't need to be baggy, but he was having a borderline Hulk moment.
Still, I think he handled the discussion with Matt very well. There's no way Chris Harrison could have successfully navigated that. It probably would have remained much more surface level. I was really impressed with how Rachael handled herself and took responsibility. I hope she follows through and does the work. I'm sure there are so many people out there who think she did nothing wrong. That's proof that there's so much more progress that needs to be made! I did take issue with Matt saying that Rachael couldn't understand what it was like to be a black man (something to that effect). Well, of course not. Her becoming more "woke" (a word that now makes me cringe), wouldn't change that.
I'm looking forward to both Katie's and Michelle's season. I wouldn't be sad if CH sat at both or just ALL of the coming seasons. Like I said in another post, there's a point at which his age difference from the participants has created a creepy vibe. I think it would work better if the host was closer in age to the participants.
Both Katie and Michelle got dressed by the same person - one who likes deep necklines! They really needed to give them some wardrobe tape to keep those plunging necklines from shifting around, especially Michelle. If you have to keep pulling and tugging on your dress, it's not the right one for you! She looked really cute, but didn't seem comfortable in the dress.
