SUPER excited for this one! I'm so glad this show is getting a re-do. Even the cast was unhappy with that last season. It's funny that I have a few little real-life connections to the show's filming. One season, they shot exteriors at the house of a friend's friend. I think it was supposed to be the front of Dexter's neighbor's porch. They filmed in Long Beach, which in some neighborhoods, can look like Florida. My friend's friend went out on the porch and sat with Michael C Hall, who was SUPER nice. In the last season, when Dexter and Deb were driving and then crashed into that lake, it was shot in the central park in my hometown. My mom and her friend watched it. She, of course, didn't recognize anyone

YUP all California!!! That’s cool you actually knew of the filming locations!!! I would love to know if any previous Dexter cast will be in the new show? I am guessing sadly not Deb.

momrek06 - the woman whose house they used to film at actually called our mutual friend while we were together. She said, "Um....Michael C Hall is on my porch right now" I was DYING. She said he couldn't have been nicer. Thanked her for letting them invade her life for a day or two and they chatted for a while. There are fans online wishing Deb would be Dexter's new Dark Passenger, but I don't think it's going to happen. I love Jennifer Carpenter, but the drama surrounding their real life relationship might make it so both of them would prefer she DIDN'T reprise the role. There are definitely neighborhoods in Long Beach that have a very South Beach feel. I'm sure filming there was much easier than actually going to Florida. With the scene in HB Central Park, they drove around the surrounding neighborhood before the lake crash and it was super weird to see a neighborhood I recognized and knew on TV. My mom did take a few pics, but not of any of the actors, of course.

You never know when a filming crew will show up in your city or on your street!!! A few years ago American Horror Story filmed here in Orange for several weeks. Evening changing all the names of the streets around Old Towne. All us residents LOVED it and we totally kept our distance. THEN to watch it on TV. Just fun fun fun. OK now on Deb ...."Dark Passenger" .... oh my my my .... I would LOVE to see JC back. I loved her in ' The Enemy Within.'

FINALLY watched last night. Hubby was traveling so I saved it to watch with him when he got home. YUP DEXTER MORGAN is BACK!!! No more JIM LINDSAY. Woot Woot As the show started, I thought I was watching an epi of "Virgin River" the Netflix Show as Dexter lives in this small quaint town in upstate NY where everyone knows your name. BUT all that has now CHANGED!!! Deb is back but talking to him from the dead. Harrison is a teen and adorable.

Screaming Deb kind of got on my nerves last night.
And I'm wondering how much of Harrison's story is true...

I just started listening to the Dexter: New Blood Wrap-Up podcast, hosted by Scott Reynolds, the exec producer of this new series (he was a producer on the OG series). It's really good! He's had all sorts of people involved with the Dexter franchise, from actors on the original and new series to folks behind the scenes. In one episode, he had John Lithgow, Colin Hanks and Christian Camargo all talking about being Big Bads on the series. Michael C. Hall has already been on two episodes out of eight. Definitely recommend for fans of the series.

Always screaming at Dexter. I have not thought that much about Harrison's s/l other than the fact that he might have some of those " dark tendencies" that his father has.

The thing is, that's not actually Deb: it's Deb as Dexter's brain is manifesting her. On the podcast, they made a point of differentiating Deb on this show and Harry as Dexter's Dark Passenger on the original series.
While Deb loved Dexter, she definitely didn't want him killing people, so he knew she would have been yelling at him. I loved that moment when they were sitting at the table across from one another and she slumped down and reached across the table. How many years had he been ignoring "Deb" while she "talked" to him?
Listening to that podcast, you really do see how much everyone loved working on that show and loved each other. That's definitely not always the case. I love hearing that people who worked on a show I love actually enjoyed the experience.

Batista showing up out of the blue and inadvertently outing Dexter to his girlfriend - how is he going to wiggle out of this one?
I wonder if they're planning on making a spinoff with Harrison...

I wonder if they're planning on making a spinoff with Harrison... waywyrd ......Ohhh it was good seeing Battista but OMG when he ever brought up Deb and Dexter and then remembered Harrison's name.......... I think the show did an amazing job with the selection of Jack Alcott as Harrison! Critical........going back to your post above.......I loved that scene from the first epi when Deb and Dexter were at the kitchen table and Deb slumping down.......awwww!

Michael C Hall has been pretty coy in interviews about whether or not the show will be renewed. That makes me worry that Dexter won't make it out of this season alive I've really enjoyed this reboot season and I guess if it ended here, that would at least be a better ending that the original finale. I'd rather it end on a good note than drag on and get to the point where we wish they'd canceled it sooner. Still, I'd miss Dexter all over again. I worry that Angela will end up shooting and killing Dexter in the finale. I would prefer that to him ending up in prison, I guess. I thought the reveal of Harrison being like Dexter was inevitable. I think Jack Abbott is doing such a terrific job as Harrison that I'd love to see more of his story. Maybe if Dexter dies, they can continue a series with Harrison. I know. Wishful thinking.

Critical were you once an AVID fan of The Young and The Restless. Yes, I mentioned in an early December post here on FoRT, that that actor playing Harrison is doing an amazing job. (Jack Alcott). ALSO I agree 100% if the ending (which I will be watching tonight like many of you) has Angela killing Dexter (as this sadly becomes the FINALE once again of Dexter) that that will absolutely be a FAR BETTER FINALE that the (2013) FINALE from years ago which disappointed soooooooo many Dexter fans. Also I did love getting to see Deb again as basically "ghost" Deb. I love JC and it was wonderful seeing her back.

So they really brought Dexter back just to gut punch us like that??! I don't even know what to think after that. I didn't love it, that's for sure. I can totally see them doing a spin off with Harrison, but I don't know how popular it would be.

Hubby and I are watching and we both were totally blindsided when Harrison picked up the gun. AND waywyrd, I really thought there could possibly be a Dexter and Harrison spinoff ...... but my thoughts of that are now gone.

I think they could still do a spinoff with Harrison and Dexter as the voice in his head, kind of like Deb was this season with Dexter. I don't know how much I'd enjoy it without Michael C. Hall in the lead, though. He WAS the show for me. And we didn't even get a scene with Dexter and Batista meeting again. Boo.
