The Judges Do Battle - Parts 1&2. The Season 9 premiere: Forty-three of America's finest home cooks compete in the Battle of the Apron challenge, during which they will face off against each other to earn a spot in the Top 24. This season brings a new twist: Judges Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sánchez and Joe Bastianich each will have eight aprons to hand out to the home cooks whom they deem worthy.
Enjoy the show!

So Joe (maybe Aaron) has knocked out the female judge of the last couple of years?

I don't know, but Joe would intimidate the crap out of me.

Joe's a sap in the MC Jr. show. Except once in a while when the scary comes out!

This will be an interesting twist. They are taking cooking into The Voice arena with coaches choosing their teams. The last four guys were so good; I might just watch this season.

I watched the first hour and then got bored with the fake drama. After becoming a "Great British Baking Show" geek, I just can't bear to watch American "cooking" shows.

There IS a lot of silliness and manufactured drama in the American shows...I enjoy it more when they get past the contestant picking and get to the actual cooking comps.

Mystery Box starts them off next week. How will they decide who to eject as they will all be pulling for their own team members.

I always pass until the actual show starts..not sure I will enjoy the judges having such a large role...especially Joe whom I did not miss over the seasons he was away. I liked the female baker so was surprised to see her gone and Joe back.

Yeah, been skipping this show for some time now and refuse to come back to it, especially with Bastianich back in the fold. This new concept about choosing teams seems to be wanting to breathe fresh air back into the competition, but it all sounds like bigger excuses for more drama to me.
Ironically, MasterChef Australia's 10th season is currently airing, my friend and I have been trying to keep up with it, not easy with several episodes a week. Anyway, for the first time ever, Gordon Ramsay shows up as a guest judge for like five whole episodes. Turns out that he's been a huge fan of MasterChef Australia for seven years now and this was quoted from an interview: "Every time I have a producers' meeting for the American MasterChef, [Gordon Ramsey] says, "Guys, look at this," he says. "The food in Australia's MasterChef is better than some of the professionals in France and England. Get your s**t together!""

My DVR failed to record the first episode and OnDemand still has no fast forward... we set it up to record so I'll be back on board watching soon. Seems like everyone would want to be on Gordon's team though, right?!
