I watched yesterday's show and not one word about the Roseanne cancellation. Perhaps it was a pre-recorded show? With Sara Gilbert being a part of The Talk, I felt for sure it would be discussed.

I was wondering if they would address it. They should have even if only to say were not going to discuss it.

I was wondering if they would address it. They should have even if only to say were not going to discuss it. I thought that was strange, too. I rarely watch this show, but tuned in for the beginning of it the past couple of days and was surprised it wasn't mentioned since it's major news just about everywhere else, and there sits Sarah Gilbert like nothing is going on. Weird.
P.S. SG isn't on the show today.

Not surprised she's leaving. Imagine how incredibly awkward it would be to have her back on the show, especially since some of the other ladies have spoken out against LM.
I don't watch the show regularly, but my mom called me today to tell me to turn it on because they had the cast of L.A. Law. SO fun to see them all! I still miss that show. Usually when they do these tv show cast reunions, it's either an anniversary or to publicize the release of DVDs or release of episodes on a streaming platform. I was hoping it was the latter, but alas....nothing It was great to see everyone (all but Susan Dey, who seems to never do these things) and remember how really good that show was, but I wish I could watch it again!

It's sad, but I think Julie had to leave The View. These sexual assault issues and conversations are not going away any time soon --- if ever!!! And they will come up frequently in the future. How could she could possibly join those conversations??? PS I'm so sorry I missed the LA Law reunion. LA Law was one of my all-time favorite shows. LOVED IT soooo much! Maybe I'll be able to catch the episode on-line somewhere (The Talk website, YouTube, etc.)

I read also, that Julie may stay with Big Brother show. If not, the article I read said plenty of other networks would love to televise the show on their network..with or without Julie hosting.

Staying on a show like Big Brother makes sense for Julie because she would never be in a position of having to discuss anything but the show, and never her personal life. I just wonder whether, in the long run, she'll stay on CBS at all.

Being the host of Big Brother takes a very special person, especially on eviction nights when she converses with the persons evicted in an ad lib manner. At that point, she discusses with him/her things that went on in the house during the entire time they were there. Whoever is the host really needs to be invested in the show and keep up with it. Same thing on the final episode when all the house guests return to vote for the winner. Her job is much more than just reading a teleprompter. I think she does a great job at it and hope she continues by choice or by CBS request.

I agree. Julie Chen does an amazing job on BB staying unbiased.

I think that Julie is an integral part of Big Brother. I don't think she's an integral part of The Talk. She's the one who reads the prompter - not one who really brings a passionate voice or specific point of view to the show. I think The Talk can move on without Julie and people won't really notice past the tearful farewell video. If she wasn't on Big Brother, it would change the tone and feel of that show.

Season 1 of BB is where I first saw Julie and I've liked her very much since then, on whatever shows she's been on. I think she's especially delightful as a guest on the late night talk shows, and I was very touched by her moving episode of 'Who Do You Think You Are' (when she was shocked to find out that her grandfather was a very, very wealthy and powerful man in China, as well as a polygamist).
In regard to The View, I think she'll be missed as the host, because even though she does primarily read the teleprompter (as acookertv mentioned), I think she infuses a lot of her personality into the show. And she does a great job.
In regard to BB, to me she's the face of BB, but even so, I think she IS replaceable. In order to do a good job, the new host clearly has to be very familiar with how the show functions, and so long as the host starts with a new season, and is liked by the audience, there's no reason that person couldn't become the new face of the show.

E News and others are speculating that Rosie ODonnell will be replacing Julie. How will that go over with Sharon? Didn't her daughter Kelly have words with Rosie? I might be thinking of the wrong person.

I might be thinking of the wrong person. I heard the same news and am trying to figure out how Rosie will fit in the mostly mild-mannered hosts of The Talk. Personally, I do not like Rosie...a little too loud and crass for my tastes. I could see her and Sharon literally tearing each other's hair out!

Rosie would be a terrible choice .....too much that we hear and quote is somebody talking out of their rear.

No on Rosie. She does not do well in that type of situation. Remember how she did on the View? I hope they don't bring her on.

I might be thinking of the wrong person. I WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE ROSIE ON THE SHOW. . . BUT she's very controversial and polarizing, and it probably wouldn't be such a great idea to have her as a co-host. I remember how painfully her tenure on The View ended. I wish it could be otherwise, but although Rosie is always a GREAT GUEST, I'm afraid it wouldn't work out well on a permanent basis.

I can't see Rosie fitting in on this show, unless they're trying to change the whole direction of it. Given what happened on The View, why would they take a chance? Rosie was not exactly a team player, and this show is just too "light" for her communication style.

I think casting Rosie would be a slap in the face to Sara. As AlwaysVeg said, Rosie is not an ensemble player. She also insists on coming across with a certain level of control. Sara is a creator and producer, but does a great job of not throwing g that around. I think rosie would do all sorts of things to overshadow Sara and that would bug me a lot.

Sara is a creator and producer, but does a great job of not throwing g that around. I think rosie would do all sorts of things to overshadow Sara and that would bug me a lot. I don't think Sara wants to be the host. She IS the creator of the show and a producer as well, and being so important to the creation of the show, (even before Julie was cast for the show), I think that she certainly could have been the host if she had wanted to be. But I'm pretty sure that's not what SHE wanted. And besides all that, as much as we all love Sara, let's face it, she's pretty boring, and monotone, and blah. I think she's totally different and great in a 'role' --- but on a talk show just being herself, she has no sparkle and no 'it' factor. So, casting Rosie wouldn't be a slap in the face to Sara, it would just be a very BAD IDEA. As much as I personally love Rosie, I can see that she would not fit well in a talk show kind of environment, particularly on a show like The Talk which is non-political and non-confrontational. Interestingly though, I've read that the decision-makers on The Talk are interested in Rosie for that very reason. Apparently they want someone who will create some "moments" and bring in the viewers. www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/exclusive-the-talk-eyes-rosie-odonnell-to-take-over-for-julie-chen-in-wake-of-longtime-hosts-departure-from-cbs-talk-show/ar-AAADNfUIt should be interesting to see who they end up with.

I didn’t mean Sara should be the host. I meant that behind the scenes she still has a degree of creative control over the direction of the show - subjects discussed, the tone, etc. Rosie demanded a lot of creative control at The. View and I could see her doing the same if she went to The Talk. So while I agree with you that Rosie as host would be a bad idea I also think it would be a slap in the face to Sara. Things can be a bad idea for more than one reason.

I like Sara (very much, in fact) but I've never enjoyed the format of this program. It doesn't hold my attention. That being said, from my understanding, it's rather popular so if they were to add someone more controversial, I think they'd be at great risk of losing a large number of their followers.

People have watched it for the low key...nothing too important being discussed. If people want otherwise they would watch THE VIEW. Rosie's time has passed and I hope she stays out of sight.

I don't catch it regularly but I will watch it occasionally and appreciate it for what it is. I never watch The View, partially because I'm not interested in hearing the political stuff. I do not think it's a good idea to bring Rosie on. I hope they find someone else.

It's won emmys, so it must have viewers.. I was hoping Carrie Ann Inaba would get the job..and maybe take her off DWTS! LOL
