It's back on! Charles finally found out the truth about Liza....from a completely unguessable source!
Is anyone still watching this?

Me! I can't believe the truth had to come from that wretched man Can't tell by the previews if Charles is mad or not. The "congratulations Liza, you pulled it off" worries me

I love this show! Liza has been living on borrowed time for awhile now. It's amazing she has been able to pull it off this long. Also, they had to do something to throw another wrench into the Liza-Charles relationship, if they get together now where is the storyline?

I think people are ready for them to be together, especially since they dragged it out for 3 years. No Maggie and no loft this week. I wonder how the old perv got all that info on Liza when her job didn't. Don't they do background checks on their employees? LOL

She had no internet presence or anything. I think you had to dig deep to get her actual details.

Why oh why has my DVR failed me? Thank goodness for this forum! Love this show, and I'm so glad it's back! All the new relationships threw me a little, and I miss Josh!!! But I'm sure I'll get used to all of this, in time. And jenniferboston1, this is your lucky day!!! You can watch the full episode on-line at the TVLand Channel site. At this point, what are the cons of Liza's secret finally coming out? Backlash over her lying? I can't really think of anything else, work-wise. I mean, she's been there long enough that they know her value. Would Diana or Charles really fire her over it? IIRC, she didn't lie on her resume about her education. At this point, it feels like Charle's ex(?) wife is more of an impediment to his relationship with Liza than her lie about her age.

I don't think she'll get backlash workwise because as you said she has proven herself as a smart and capable employee. I think it would happen on a more personal level because she's basically lied for two years about the most basic of things, and if you can lie about that you can lie about anything. I think some trust rebuilding will need to be done.

You're probably right, but look how Kelsey got over the deception. Hopefully, everyone else (ie Charles!) will get over it quickly too. IMO, it's not the worst lie anyone could tell and she had a valid reason for doing it, at least in the beginning. Like with many lies, this one just took on a life of its own. Hopefully, Charles won't flip out about it and run back to his ex.

Omg just finished watching the season premiere I'm crying. I'm so Team Charles. On one hand I am so happy he finally knows on the other hand I hated he had to find out that way. I do think his ex wife's book will help him understand why Liza did what she did. And I'm excited for them to finally have a real chance at figuring out what they have.

The only reason workwise her true age will be a problem is that she works for Millenial, right? Based on her true age she's not a Millenial. Bad press for her workplace... could even look like she was told by her boss to lie to help the PR spin for the Millenial imprint? Makes the company look deceitful.
Well, that's all I can come up with!

I didn't even think about that! Her primary job is still being an assistant, so she'll probably be removed from Millenial and will continue to work there.

I was glad that Charles told Pauline they wouldn't be getting back together. The woman who plays Pauline has a weird mouth, lol! So Charles is wrestling with his feelings for Liza meanwhile Josh's marriage is over. Triangle time again.

I haven't watched the episode yet but his marriage is already over? Wow. Yes. Josh came back to the US first saying she stayed behind to do something about her dog. Then later in the episode Liza finds him home alone drinking and he said that it was over that she was only after a green card.

Well, he knew that before they even got married! Wasn't it his idea that they got married in the first place, after her visa in the States ran out? No use getting mad about it after the marriage.

I really love Josh and I love him with Liza, BUT I also think she was right to break things off. He REALLY wants to be a father and she's made it pretty clear she's done having kids. I don't think she could live with knowing that she'd prevented him from having kids. Even if he loves her and wants to be with her, IMO, he'd eventually regret staying with her and missing out on being a father.
OTOH, I'm not sure Liza belongs with Charles either. I REALLY didn't like how quickly he was ready to fire her.
If you could combine Josh and Charles, it would make the perfect man: Charles' age and experience (ie. he has children) and Josh's, well, everything else.
I'm a Jennifer Westfeldt fan - I knew who she was before I knew who (her now ex bf) Jon Hamm was. I LOVED Kissing Jessica Stein (which she wrote and starred in), but yeah, her mouth is distracting. It used to not be as noticeable, but then she started getting fillers and it became more prominent. Ladies! Quit letting doctors inject things into your face! It does not make you look younger!

This was an episode I didn't see coming. And I totally agree with your comments, Critical. I'm sooooo happy to see Josh back, and single again. And I'm soooo happy Charles admitted that he was (past tense) in love with Liza --- and that he told his ex-wife he was not in love with her. But, you're right, Critical. Charles was too quick to totally dismiss all of his feelings for Liza. Not only was he ready to fire her on the spot, but you could see the disgust written all over his face. And for me, the worst thing was that Charles seemed to be more disgusted about the fact that Liza was old, and that she had a grown daughter, than the fact that Liza was pretending to be in her 20s. And, wow, look at the difference in Jessica Westfeldt's face before and after plastic surgery, fillers, and the passage of time! She was really lovely! There are more 'before' and 'after' pics in the article: celebritysurgerynews.com/jennifer-westfeldt-plastic-surgery/

The ink on his annulment isn't even dry yet, and Josh is sleeping with multiple women while complaining about being unlucky in love. Hmmm...maybe calm down and get to know them first?
I've never liked Charles wife; she strikes me as being very impulsive and flighty, which isn't a good combination. Sorry, but when you decide to abandon your husband and kids to find yourself for years don't expect them to be waiting for you to come home. Bringing up all the things that you felt were wrong with your marriage seemed kinda petty but I think Charles needed to hear it. Charles, on the other hand is still very angry with Liza but won't let her quit. I think there's some hope there.
I like Kelsey and Zane's dynamic so I'm not sure about this new author they're taking on. There's the whole "don't crap where you eat" dynamic with both men, plus Kelsey has a bad habit for falling for creeps. I think she needs to be by herself for awhile.

I hope he comes around too, although I am enjoying Salty Charles. When he suggested Liza bring some Tupperware on her date? Fun to see Sutton Foster acting once again with her ex-hubby Christian Borle, BTW (he guested on the Netflix Gilmore Girls too). That's one amicable divorce, which seems strange to me, in light of the rumors about him cheating with Laura Bell Bundy. I guess Sutton is more evolved than I would be in that situation! SO happy to see Maggie. I love her and I love her friendship with Josh because they let it exist separately from Liza.

Question for those of you who have been watching this show ... it came highly recommended to me by a few friends recently, so over the weekend I watched the first four episodes. I didn't hate it, but also didn't find myself wondering where this had been all my life and how five seasons snuck by without me knowing how great it is. For those who are hooked - do you think the early episodes are representative of the show? Or is it one of those (like Parks and Rec) that took some time to hit it's stride, and I should stay with it because it's about to get great.
