I'm just waiting for The Gong Show to return. And I feel like such an idiot for not knowing that Mike Myers was the host last season!

The new season of Match Game (with Alec Baldwin and 6 other celebs) starts Thursday eve, June 21st! I love this show. It is absolutely hilarious, and one of the most enjoyable hours of tv fun!!! In 8th grade English class, we had to write a skit. The group I was in did a skit based on Match Game. I recall two of the guys who were in my group, one of them is now a popular radio host in our area. I always loved the program and I had so much fun with our skit. Fond memories.

Is anyone watching Love Connection hosted by Andy Cohen (on Fox)??? I am LOVING this show. I'm smiling from the time it starts until they're running the closing credits!!! And Andy Cohen is the perfect host for this show, and he can be hilarious!!! Like last week's show, (Season 2 Episode 2 Kirstie & Joe) Andy had me laughing sooooo much --- unbelievable.

Another hilarious episode of Love Connection this week ("Armond & Grace"). Boy, Andy has a natural way of interacting with the contestants that is very reminiscent of Steve Harvey. They both just become 'one of the family' and say the things that everybody is thinking, but won't say, themselves. Every week I'm smiling (or laughing ) (or groaning ) for an hour straight! This show and the new "Match Game" (with Alec Baldwin + tipsy guest celebrities ) just cheer me right up ---- just when I need it most!!!

I liked the original Love Connection better, but I watched the updated version also.
What are people's thoughts on how in season one the daters had the option that if the audience picked someone different than who they had chose, they could still get the $10,000 if they went on a date with that person? I had heard that some of the viewers thought it was kind of shady, so the show got rid of it for season 2.
I'd also like it if they had more older daters on the show, instead of most being from the same age bracket.

My 2nd favorite is Love Connection (on Fox) hosted by Andy Cohen. Both shows are HILARIOUS and so much fun!

I wasn't sure if almost primetime is ok here, but I hope 7:30 is close enough. There's a new Jeopardy player who is breaking the bank. He has already beat the one day winnings total by over $30,000. He's a mathematician and a professional sports gambler in Las Vegas, so he's obviously not adverse to making big wagers. He's pretty darn smart too. www.wired.com/story/jeopardy-record-james-holzhauer-strategy/

I don't usually watch Jeopardy but I have been following this guy. Just amazing. Alan is making a point of warning that day's new players what they're up against, LOL.
7-8 pm is primetime for me because I go to bed at 9 pm.

WOW. This James guy is totally crushing everyone he plays against...and he just set a record with tonight's win. Amazing. The other two never had a chance.

Jeopardy
James Holzhauer got 40 out of 40 questions right Wed, plus the bonus question. He already holds the top four highest daily wins and is second only to Ken Jennings in regular season winnings at record breaking speed. Wow!

It has to be a distraction to make daily double wagers based on significant dates or decide what message he will write on the final jeopardy question. Obviously not too distracting.
He is winning so much more on average on a daily basis than the show has seen before, I wonder how long the operating budget can carry him. The main record left to break is Jennings' 74 wins. Holzhauer x 75 is a BIG number!
Alex isn't mincing words about the chance each evening's new contestants have against him. Last night he pondered what it must feel like to go up against a buzzsaw.

So, in just 14 games (2 1/2 days of taping), and James H has over $1,000,000 in winnings on Jeopardy. He also holds the top 5 spots on daily winnings. He just tops himself now. All I can is say, WOW!

James is back tonight!
Has anyone tried the online Jeopardy! test? The first step in applying to be on? No real tests at the moment but there is a practice test. I only scored 10 out of 30. I thought I was much better than that in my livingroom! LOL

I took the online practice test a couple of months ago when they were letting people apply and test. The trouble was that I was usually working while taking it, and I couldn't finish the test without being interrupted so I never got to apply. I probably got about 18-19 right on the practice test. Having to type under pressure makes it even harder

Jeopardy James!
Only $138,118 to beat Ken Jenning's regular game winnings of $2,520,700, in half the time.
When does Alec run out of things to ask James about himself? They deferred that discussion last evening, LOL.
His strategy is very clear. I'm surprised so few players are pursuing it, as the only way to beat him (grab the Daily Doubles and gamble it all).
I never watched Ken. James is so casual. "You know what to do, Alec."

I never watched Ken. James is so casual. "You know what to do, Alec." I watched the Saturday rerun show last weekend, which goes back to episodes before James started his run. Watching it made me realize that his style has made a lot of the other contestants change from the "normal" way of playing the game. I was bored watching an old show by how infrequently people made a bet a true daily double. It made me realize that James really has forced others to change how they play. They may not be as obvious in it as he is, but I think there are more people tempted to making a full bet for a daily double. It works to his advantage, because he gets the answer right a lot more frequently than others- so he's not just adding up the money he's got, but they keep falling into the hole more often. The other thing that I think James does incredibly well is to not buzz in if he's not confident he knows the answer. He loses VERY little money on wrong answers. Some of that is because he knows a lot, but a huge part is that he's smart enough to know what he does not know. But I do think that he's forcing other players to take risks they would not take against a different competitor.

I agree there appears to be more risk-taking, and the other contestants are less likely to make good on them, but I think unless they go for broke he can't be stopped.

I felt sorry for the guy on Wed game who held his buzzer high and clicked it like there was no tomorrow. I have seen others do that and, really, it doesn't help all that much. Plus holding it up in line of sight is a distraction for the audience...not good.
