This is a fun show obviously shot during the pandemic that makes for good filler. Alan Gonzales is an excellent host and I hope he has a chance to host more Project Runway things. The contestants update us on what's going on with their lives since PR (some good, some sad) and the challenge tends to be a variant of what they went home for. I'm going to space out my recaps so a lot more people can see it unspoiled. Episode One: Delvin vs. AfaAfa had another kid (6 months old now) and his business is doing well enough that he's doing fashion shows. Unfortunately, Delvin had to shut down his storefront and get rid of his staff because of the pandemic but has since bounced back by doing capsule collections. The challenge was to create a modern evening wear look using only cotton. Afa made a pantsuit with a tulip shape peplum on top referencing his culture. Delvin went out of the box and decided to use denim as his cotton material and created this beautifully fitted evening dress in a dark wash that managed to be quite sophisticated in spite of being denim. Afa also had a fashion show to do halfway though their allotted 2 days of work time, so he was really dividing his time and perhaps did not give his outfit the amount of care he normally would. After the two day challenge everyone Zoomed with Nina for the mini fashion show in their respective studios (they also had to use their own model as well). Winner: {Sssh...} Delvin (honestly, it was really good).

I just finished watching all five shows and came to comment on the ultimate winner, but I'm happy to wait till the recaps are done, because I know I didn't want to be spoiled. Maybe I'll just make my comments but use spoiler tags so that I can get it off my chest. {My thoughts on the $25,000 prize winner}I really liked what Bishme did, and I'm not mad that he won at all, but I didn't like that Nina dismissed Kovid's design as not being as true to the assignment as the others. I thought it was beautiful creation based on his childhood photo and was current.
It just wasn't everyday wear, but I don't think that was part of the instructions, and it wasn't his fault that his picture had him in something much more formal than the others.
I realize that he could have done something more casual and still been inspired by the look in his photo, but I don't think he should have been expected to.
I thought his look was exquisite.
