Texas Trailblaze-hers - For the Quickfire, the chefs must create salty-sweet deserts that will inspire a new flavor of Talenti gelato. In the Elimination CHallenge, the chefs must draw inspiration from the lives of some of Texas' most influential women.
Enjoy the show!

The lack of replies shows low viewership or interest in this season? I was unimpressed with these contestants this season - some of whom could not make a biscuit. I mean come on.

I'm watching! I really liked the last challenges, especially the salty/sweet challenge. I can't wait for the pork rinds and ginger snap ice cream!
I don't think the chefs really did justice to Ann Richards. To me, she was bold, strong, and fiery. A slice of salmon and cute potatoes is nowhere near that. Also, how small was that portion that was in the bottom? Luke?
They had to give it to Evelyn. Imagine after all of that talk about ground-breaking women, they gave it to Jackson? Lol. And, he must have gotten his taste back, right? He is always in the top.

Lots of people watch the show later on demand or streaming. Only a precious few shows like Survivor, Big Brother and Bachelor still get a lot of live traffic.

I attended a SXSW in Austin during her tenure as Governor of Texas and was lucky enough to meet her at a event she did during the festival. I was SO in awe of her and just blown over by her boldness, sassiness, and genuine kindness and compassion. She was, to put it lightly, one hell of a woman! She has to be, by far, one of my fave Democrats to ever hold an office, and that is saying a lot as someone who tends to lean more right than left. She was truly an amazing woman. I was even giddy to see her daughter there at the meal/judging. She looks soooo much like her mom. It was a disappointing show for her in the meals presented. Her daughter was far too kind in her comments, but I would have expected nothing less of her.. she is a class act like her mom. On the other hand, I LOVED Evelyn's Como la Flor inspired dish. She was one person there that truly had a real beat on what this challenge needed. It wasn't just about the food it was about the way these women inspired SO many, and not just in Texas! I was more than happy with her winning. Ashleigh and Jae were disappointing as well, they totally missed the connection with their inspiring woman, good food or not.. it was not well planned out. I felt bad for Monique, she has been struggling a bit thus far but at least she had a great connection for Barbara Jordan, but dropped the ball on her excitation when she cut the fried oysters. Safe to say that Ashleigh was lucky she did so well inthe quickfire, I think she would have been the one to go home if she was not safe.

OMG! Thank you for sharing your story about Ann Richards. And your description nailed it. One hell of a woman!
I met her at a DNC event where I worked at a summer when I was in college. I was a coat check girl and totally fangirled over Ann Richards being there and a staff member saw and was surprised that a young New Yorker would know who she was and took my hand and sliced through the crowd for me to meet Ann Richards. I will never forget!!! What strength and sense of humor and reliability. Inspiring.
I want to read her daughter's book, and I also agree that she was too kind. Potatoes as mushrooms? There was nothing 'cute' about Ann Richards!

LOL, happy to see I was not the only non-Texan Ann Richards fan Girl out there Shaking her hand was one of life's greatest moments for me, it was rockstar-esque. She has been an inspiration (with Sandra Day and my beloved RBG) for me in all I do to make the move to work in government and why I went back to school to get my PolySci degree. I have to say, if you know anything about the SXSW Music festival you have to understand how cool it was to see a true Lady like Ann open it up... she was so much the heart and soul of it all that day.

I don't want to hijack the thread but one of my favorite books is Lazy B: Growing up on a Cattle Ranch in the American Southwest by Sandra Day O'Connor.

Can I also say how freaking amazing Selena's sister Suzette looked too. I can only hope to age as well as some of the amazing women included in this episode, Suzette, Cecile, Sheryl Swoopes, and Lauren Anderson! I have to say, this really was one my most favorite episodes, Restaurant Wars all aside, maybe ever. And I am always happy to share my Ann Richards stories lol
