Game of Chicken - One castaway is the last standing in the fight for immunity, earning themselves a spot in the final eight.
Enjoy the show!

I'm kind of over Romeo. Rocksroy, too, with his big mouth. He just doesn't know how to talk to people...he talks AT them.

I'm kind of over Romeo. Rocksroy, too, with his big mouth. He just doesn't know how to talk to people...he talks AT them. I was concerned from last week's preview that there would be an all boys alliance but watching Rocksroy in action was a thing of beauty, he totally destroyed the ABA. It's so funny that both Rocksroy and Mike totally assume all the boys would agree to an ABA and I was at first surprised and then pleased that both Omar and Hai totally shot down the concept. Both Omar and Hai put their fingers on the problem; if Mike, Rocksroy, and at times Jonathan say it it must be so. Blind masculinity at its best. These guys are so used to assuming as males they know all and are always right that they simply can't conceive that they are wrong. Like Hai said, Rosksroy does not talk to you he talks at you.

Now Jonathan is all cocky after winning immunity, not listening to Lindsey at all.

Bye bye Rocksroy.
Please please please, blindside Jonathan, I'm so over him...
EDIT: Oh crap, Jonathan's safe.

Well that last tribal took a turn.
Tori is finally voted out, after using her shot in the dark that didn't save her.

I believe each and every one of them was annoyed with the way Rocksroy treaded them .
But ok, now it is a mighty problem, that he got voted out by 2 asian guys and 1 white guy ( or is the guy with the glasses hispanic ? )

That episode seemed FAST. I'm happy with the way it turned out, but we sure got a better glimpse of a few people's true colors. Maryanne and Drea played their idols, shared their emotions about the people of color being voted off all in a row and how they couldn't play a part in that. Omar having a lot more power than anyone really realizes! I liked Hai's comment about not going to be a part of Rocksroy's misogyny!

I was thrilled Rocksroy was voted off and couldn't wait for Drea to be gone. That would have been perfect.
Then they had to go there, play the race card with Drea going on and on and on about how black people are always voted off first in Survivor.
Does Drea have ROCKS in her head?
Nine people have been voted out the seven that are non jury members were three white people (Jackson, Zack, Marya), two Asian people (Jenny, Swati), two more white people (Daniel, Lydia).
Only after seven non-black people were voted out was a black people (Chanelle number 8) voted out and that person made it to the jury. Of the remaining 10 people that started this episode you have 3 white, 3 black, 3 Hispanic, 1 Asian. This is a very diverse cast with technically the white folks being the minority.
I hate it when they make it about a social issue which really is not the case if you look at the voting record.
Two good things came out of the last tribal. Drea and Maryanne lost/gave up their Immunity Idols and Jonathan can't take any credit for orchestrating a big move.

I already posted about it but 7 people who were voted off (or had to leave) and not on the jury were not black. Of the remaining 11 people only 3 were white, in all probability someone of color was going to be voted off. Chanelle, Drea, and Maryanne are all dangerous because they are smart players, and all have multiple immunities and advantages between them. Chanelle, Drea, and Maryanne all have targets on their backs. Rocksroy was just annoying as heck. All good reasons to be voted off. Now you have Maryanne an Drea that are vulnerable. It would be stupid at this point not to go after Drea, or Mike, or Jonathan next episode. I am not rooting for any of these people.

Bossy pants gets voted off. Idols get flushed. The truth is Drea was correctly perceiving that she was going to be the next blindside. Drea and MaryAnne would vote for anyone who is not their self.
I hated watching Jonathan do that to himself. You future players need to practice respectful consideration.
It was smart to get Tori out. She is a good player. She would win immunity and have them constantly scrambling. At least some others have a better chance at winning immunity now.
The guy with the glasses is connecting with and working everyone...best game so far.

I may be the minority here but I loved that episode and a lot of this cast still.
Hai and Omar continue to impress and was already rooting for them so nothing changed there. I do like how they pivoted and made a better move for them both. So glad not a lame all boys alliance. Not a fan of any "all" alliance. Out of that 5 Rocksroy would be my choice to get out so yay for me!
I like Drea and Maryann and thought they did a really good job at tribal. Maybe looking back they will see *that* vote - had nothing to do with race and Rocksroy really is just the annoying misogynist who need to go for everyone's game that isn't Rocksroy and Jonathon - BUT it was a shock to see not Romeo and they were very clear about their baggage and their feelings and I really thought MaryAnn spoke beautifully.
I thought Jonathon looked like a butt both at camp bossing the girls around and even more so at tribal getting defensive and calling Drea aggressive . . .and while I wasn't as big of a fan of him as some people were, I still liked him middling amount, but he is officially off my to root for list. That said, I already mentioned my dislike of Tori so happy to see her go as well! Her rolling of her eyes is an annoying to me and I am happy to no longer have to her do that anymore. Plus I already like Lyndsey so happy she got to stay.
Oh and while I am sorry it come about by pain, I did feel there were too many idols and advantages around so not sad we got a few of those out.
Can't wait for next week, loving this season.

I'm not going to pretend I can understand how Drea or Maryann felt when they saw that Rocksroy had been voted out because I can't, so I'm willing to believe that they were seeing a larger social issue being involved beyond game play. However, we also have the advantage of being aware of conversations they were not aware of, so I wonder how they'll feel when they're able to watch the entire episode and/or find out before then that Rocksroy was willing to be part of an all guys alliance that would inevitably have meant, had the alliance held, that he would have been willing to vote both of them out before any of the guys. If they had known that, would they have been as upset that he was on the jury or more upset with him that he was willing to vote them out? Or would they maybe have been okay with his doing that because they felt he was doing what he had to do to survive longer in the game as a Black player? I'm not trying to be controversial here. I'm just wondering what would happen if they were asked these questions later. Or considered them later on their own if they find out from someone else what Rocksroy's alliance plan had been, had it worked. Also, I don't think I saw the vote when Chanelle was voted out. Is Maryann aware that Drea voted for Chanelle?
It's also quite possible that Rocksroy wouldn't have been voted out if the arbitrary breakdown of the teams had been different. But given those with whom he ended up, I can see why they might have found him a physical threat and wanted him out of the game.. If Jonathan hadn't had that immunity necklace, I wouldn't have been surprised if there had been a move to get him out on the other team either. For that matter, I think Drea might have still had a target on her back if the teams had been different because she has a lot of advantages, and those without any would want to flush them. BTW, I agree with those who think there are just too many advantages of too many different kinds at play this season, including the shot in the dark and the game reset. It makes it too difficult for players to strategize since pure dumb luck, like the shot in the dark, can change everything.

I'm in the middle of watching it now.
What I don't get about Maryann is that she says Jonathan talked to her like a little girl. Well, gee whiz! That's basically her schtick! She promotes herself as the tiniest, awkward, naive, intimidatable, hiding-behind-a-plant-at-a-pre-teen-community-center-dance filly who just doesn't get it on the same level as her pre-teen peers! It's her THING! I wonder how she maneuvers in her day to day?

Can't wait for next week, loving this season. Thank you for the perfect description of Rocksroy. Jonathan is very conscious of being the big physical guy but I do think he is a bit of a bully. Was Drea aggressive? Yes she does come across forceful at times. Jonathan does not like drama and many men do not like females to get loud because that means they are emotional and full of drama but is it his job to control that person. When Jonathan tells Drea she is aggressive all he does is make her angry. She is allowed to be angry let her feel it Jonathan does not need to get involved in her emotion. That being said I do think that both Drea and Maryanne fed into the stereotype of angry black females. I also think Maryanne milked it because she said in an earlier confessional since everyone knows her as an emotional player she uses emotion to her advantage. So glad they got rid of the idols.

It makes it too difficult for players to strategize since pure dumb luck, like the shot in the dark, can change everything. Even with all the advantages in the game, this group of players is playing such an old school version of lets get numbers and get rid of all the bottom feeders type of game. In one sense all the advantages prevent the players from doing all these creative blindsides of the several seasons before season 41 and 42. It's like having an advantage has dumbed down the game play that has been so good lately.

I didn't particularly like this episode. Doesn't Dre have more than one idol, or advantage. If Dre was upset at being called aggressive, why was she lying in Jonathan arms at TC. I think she's emotionally drained, and hungry. Tori took going well, I just wish Romeo had gone. In his TH he said he'd like to kick them in the face, I can't imagine if Jonathan had said that.

I agree, Drea (while not my fave player by a long shot) is drained and I felt for her last night on many levels. When she saw the jury it was not simply about the fact that there were 2 people who looked like her sitting there, it was not about who put them there, and it was not about the colour of the skin of the people who went out before them to her. It was the fact that she, as a Black woman, was not going to be party to putting another Black player in that position. Whereas I do agree in a game like this it should not have to come down to race, at times it can and does (not in this case as both players up for a vote were there for valid gameplay reasons), but it should ALWAYS be about game play and doing what is best to advance you in the game. Sadly, it is not that easy for some players to see so I can absolutely respect her position and feelings in this case. I can also see where she was torn, and I think that this added to her emotional exhaustion by the end of TC, that she was a Black woman in the position she was in with the vote, and wanting to do what was best for her game... it was a hard place for her to be in. She is right in that people of color have been voted out early in contests like this, and back then there was FAR LESS diversity in the casting and maybe that made it less noticable to anyone who wasn't looking at their TVs and seeing the one or two someones who looked like them being cast away, it would hold a much larger impact for them in that respect. In the end I support, understand, and fully respect her choice to go with her heart, but have to say it may not have been the best game play... but the two are different. Tori did go out with grace, more so than I thought she would lol.. but still class exit overall. As much as I want Romeo to go at this point, I wanted Rocksroy gone more. Ever since the naggy wife comment he was No. 1 on my list for being a big piece of No. 2. I hope his wife quits her job to stay home with the kids and makes him go work so she can say what a nag he is.
