Awesome! Way to go, Maryanne! I love that she was the most excited when they first hit the beach and she took it all!

I wish they had gotten more to eat than just rice.
I want to see more Jonathan.
Jonathan did lose the game with his disinterest in what others had to say. He was showing that he did not value them.

I was happy Maryanne won! I loved their faces when Maryanne pulled out her hidden idol that none of them knew about. I liked how the jury was pretty respectful to all three.
Interesting that they liked all the new stuff being thrown at them. I can see having some new helps keep the game interesting but there were just too many the past two seasons.

I'm happy for her as well. I was expecting her to play her idol for Lindsay as she mentioned in an ITM interview, but it worked better for her without Lindsay going to three.
This was a good and interesting season!

I thought it was a great season overall. There weren't any contestants that I really disliked. I loved final tribal where the jury asked hard questions but there wasn't any animosity. I love that Maryann won, she seemed to enjoy every bit of it. Her pointing out that she was the 40th winner showed how much of a fan she is. I had to stop and think about it for a minute, too. lol
Overall, I think it was the best final three out of the top 4. I did not want to see Jonathan win just because of how condescending he could be to the women when they had a different idea. Hopefully he watched the show back and realized that wasn't the way to be. I did like him otherwise.

I really enjoyed this season. Maryanne is such a likeable person...but one of the most ANNOYING ever on Survivor. I'm happy for her, but hope they don't bring her back. I can't imagine how many times I yelled at the TV this season "SHUT UP MARYANNE!".
When the episode started, I thought that either Mike or Maryanne would win. Mike also seemed like a good guy, but I never warmed up to him too much.
I feel like we'll definitely see Jonathan and Lindsay again. I think they'll both watch this season and correct a few of their mistakes.

I cannot describe how happy I am for Maryanne winning! She gave one of the best final tribal council performances in the history of this show. At the beginning of the season I don't think anyone expected that she would be the winner. She had a great underdog story and timed her game perfectly at the right time. I am really going to miss this season this was a great cast, I enjoyed it way more than season 41 like its not even close for me.

I kept expecting him to stop the pageant catfish and fess up to being a producer, not only on the local TV station, but previously on Entertainment Tonight (the hosts mentioned him at the end of their show prior to Survivor Finale).

Finally finished the last episode. And I have to say I loved the season and the ending did not disappoint.
I am so happy Jonathon did not make it to the final 3. I don't think I could stand to listen to him talk anymore. ITA with the pp who mentioned the whole Mr. Jeff. Maybe its regional . . .but I kept thinking ...what are you - a 3rd grader?
As an early MaryAnn fan I am thrilled not only she won but she really earned that win. Pulling out that idol at jury to show she *was* playing was brilliant and someone . . . probably Omar. . . said with that move she really snatched the win. Sometimes being a better player (Omar) gets you out too early and its better to just finish really, really strong!
I did think she might win it all if she could make final tribal because she is really eloquent as previously mentioned. She has already proved she can speak clearly and well when she has a point to make (probably because she practices non-stop. lol!) She also did a really amazing job of being quiet when its not her turn and not getting defensive at any point. She stuck to what she wanted to say and nailed it!
I'd loved to see Omar and Lyndsey come back. I wouldn't say I didn't love every member of the cast but overall they ALL were very good at managing being emotional and its a game. At some point (was is last season or earlier?) I was only watching Survivor because I have seen all seasons and didn't want to ruin my streak, but after this season I feel like a big fan again! Just lay off the gazillion advantages please!

Saying "Ms. Barbara" or "Mr. Ken" to an elder is just meant to be respectful.

Since I work with Children, I only hear children do this, and it feels so off to me to hear a grown adult do it to another grown adult. Admittedly I live in the North and admittedly if I liked Jonathon a lot more I might have found it endearing instead. lol!

I could not watch the Survivor finale Wednesday night so 3 days later I am doing so.
Why did it take me so long? I just had a bad taste in my mouth and did not want to see either Mike or Jonathan in the final tribal.
So it after last week's tribal and Mike has promised both MaryAnne and Lindsey he will protect them with his idol. Wow, you can only promise so many people the same thing, if they find out it will bite you in the hind quarters.
I too find Jonathan's demeanor and attitude toward women annoying. Can you say control freak and ass. Will not be surprised if he has a history or will have a history of mental abuse to his future partners.
A puzzle. I laugh out loud that Lindsey finishes first, but than am sadden as she is so bad at finding idols and advantages. But the best moment is how Mike asks everyone to help and both Romeo and MaryAnne sandbag helping and even after 40 minutes both Jonathan and Mike still cannot figure out the word scramble.
At the immunity challenge I thought Lindsey had it. I really thought it was hers to lose. I must admit Jonathan was amazing how he blasted through all the stations but then he met his kryptonite. A puzzle. He just stopped and watched Mike and Lindsey. He didn't even try.
I was sad to see Lindsey leave. I did wonder that she threw Omar under the bus several times during tribal council, everyone on the jury must know she and Omar were each other's number ones.
I was surprised that Mike gave MaryAnne his idol. Jonathan that was a big clue that Mike is not protecting you or wants you in the final tribal.
Interesting to note that both Romeo and MaryAnne were strategic in their voting and not emotional, otherwise it would have been Jonathan.
What no talk after tribal? Just right to the last immunity challenge.
Mike out during the warmup. That was priceless.
MaryAnne next, I was hoping she would do better.
Both Jonathan and Romeo neck and neck at three balls and I started hoping just maybe Romeo will win. Stranger things have happened. Thank you Survivor Gods Romeo wins the Immunity Necklace and a place in the final three. No one saw that coming.
I do think Romeo better make sure Jonathan and MaryAnne are sitting next to him at the final.
Taking a break.

I'm back.
Mike is a snake. He is so manipulative with Romeo and Jonathan regarding who to send to make fire. Glad to see Jonathan sees through him.
I did think that Jonathan would have been the weaker player and the better player to sit next to Romeo. Talk about a total contrast physically, and strategically. One playing from the top and the other from the bottom. Very equal in one sense.
Final tribal.
I was very surprised how respectful all the jury were.
I very much liked the individual confessionals from each individual jury member and them expressing what they wanted to hear from each of the final three players.
I very much liked that the jury members came across as to how they want to see each remaining player owning how they played the game, be it as a physical beast, be it as a cockroach. Luv'ed that. Luv'ed that the jury was looking for each player to own how they played.
Interesting format that each aspect of the game would be examined; the social, the physical, the strategy, and that each jury member would be able to ask questions in each area. I really didn't think there would be time for that and the reunion.
Very smart questions. Some very good answers.
Luv'ed that the jury went after Mike for his honesty and integrity strategy and how they felt he was being dishonest in how he played. He a very cagey player and even at the very end figured out that the jury wanted to hear him own it and he made a comment that maybe how he played wasn't what he thought it was.
At times MaryAnne talks so fast I get lost. She had some great answers especially her strategy of how she could get to the final three by voting out Omar. That was a very good answer.
I think it will be a very close vote.

OK.
MaryAnne won 7 to 1.
Mike got 1 vote.
Romeo got no votes.
Happy with the winner.
Happy that Romeo went out on a positive note.
Glad to see so many hands raised when Jeff asked if they were leaning to vote for Mike but they changed their minds.
Canadians get to keep the entire prize?

FYI Mike's Exit interview. ew.com/tv/survivor-42-mike-turner-finale-interview/I luv how Mike acknowledges that Jonathan would not have gotten the girls votes, not that they were right about him (being a misogynist) but that they didn't like him. Mike didn't get it why the girls didn't like Jonathan and neither did Jonathan and lots of fans who call Lindsey bitter and a liar. This happens all the time. I had a co-worker who pulled the same misogynistic crap and when I said something about it I got the "well, that is your perception" comment from the other male co-workers as if because it is my perception it is not valid. Men do that all the time to women and that is exactly what Jonathan did dismissing them and their ideas, but if that same idea came from themselves or another man than it was OK/valid.

Woo hoo! Maryanne! Mike and Romeo, totally self-destructed during their interviews. When Maryanne pulled out her idol? Epic. Self destructing is not how I would describe it. This has been one of the best final tribal councils I have seen in that the jury had a great format of three areas to focus on and the ability to ask multiple questions. I like that Omar was the initial spokesperson and clearly stated what the jury was looking for. Lets face it Romeo really did have an uphill battle to win this season and he even conceded that winning Survivor had not been his objective that getting as far as he could was. Didn't that effectively eliminate him as a potential winner? Mike, Mike, Mike ... looked like he was the favorite to win. Mike not acknowledging his method of game play is what self destructed his game. The strategy of playing with honesty and integrity is such an old school way of playing. It was very evident during the season if he perceived you lied to him, you were then dead to him and he could lie to your face and blindside you with impunity. Mike was clueless about a lot of what was happening in the game. He survived it but I think that was more luck then skill. It seemed as if Mike was trying to control what everyone is doing and if they didn't do what he wanted or what he said then they betrayed Mike and had to be eliminated. That is not strategic playing that is emotionally reactive playing and while many viewers seem to be of the opinion that is calculated gameplay it is not. In one sense I wish Jonathan would have been at the final tribal because his grilling by the jury would have been fun especially when asked why he treated the women so badly. I do think many men have an unconscious bias toward women and to me Mike and Jonathan both did it regarding discussing strategy and not listening to their female partners and dismissing their ideas. MaryAnne did very well articulating what she had done in the game and that gave her the win.

So happy Maryanne woon, and how she won too, just absolutely nailing those jury questions. Her still being able to find a use for her idol in the end was a joy to watch.
I am surprised by Mike being the favorite to win before Maryanne aced the jury questions, since I never saw him as a particularly good player. Not only was he an entitled hypocrite, he always seemed to be out of the loop, it was always either Hai or Omar leading him on.

I am surprised by Mike being the favorite to win before Maryanne aced the jury questions, since I never saw him as a particularly good player. Not only was he an entitled hypocrite, he always seemed to be out of the loop, it was always either Hai or Omar leading him on.I know. Both Mike and Jonathan were playing an old school strategy of Survivor. Even with all the jury questions and time spent at Ponderosa Jonathan was loyal to Mike and was the only jury vote for him. The game at 26 days is very quick and fluid and I think very hard to play as a hardball player from the beginning, you will either burn out or be voted out. Rocksroy was also another old school player who believed in the work hard around the camp strategy that does not work. No one will save you because you work hard around the camp. Mike reminds me of the way Boston Rob would play, as a total control freak and if anyone did anything without him he would vote them off. But at least Boston Rob did that as a deliberate strategy and owned it. I will say in the past I have gotten upset at some winners as I totally didn't get why they won. But I have come to realize as a viewer I don't see everything the players see. I don't experience everything the players experience. There is a reason why votes go a certain way. I do think the jury has evolved and most jury members are not bitter they have been voted off and vote in a winner based on revenge. I just wish that how the jury figured out who to vote for was better shown, what their reasons were. There are a lot of fans who are upset MaryAnne won. The fans were upset Erica won last season. The fans are upset the format has changed. Sometimes the fans are as stupid as dirt. I appreciate that the producers of Survivor found away around COVID restrictions and were able to film two seasons back to back and give us much needed entertainment. Survivor producers did state they changed the format of the game because of COVID and that many of the changes would not be permanent. Many people can't seem to use Google or other search engines to find articles that explain all of that. What I finally get is that the jury based on their experience in the game votes for the best player, unfortunately the edit does not always favor the best player. I really appreciate that two quiet personalities were able to use their brains and survive and win in the end. I have never liked the flashy physical players like Ozzy. So many players come into the game expecting to physically dominant the game and win all immunity challenges. I don't know if it is the American Sports Culture which is so ingrained in our society that the best physical specimen wins and fans for some reason translate that into the physical player of course is great socially and mentally as well. Survivor has adapted over the years and by the time individual immunity occurs the challenges change to puzzles, balance, and endurance, which are great equalizers between the genders and the younger and older players and physicality. Fans cite that Jonathan is this great physical beast, is a challenge beast. Jonathan only won two individual immunity challenges. There are 54 players who have won 3 or more individual immunity challenges. Jonathan is not even on the list. Any way back to your statement rembrant. I do think Mike was good socially as far as being open to all players and getting along with them. I too think he was a total hypocrite. It was very obvious that others were playing Mike and Jonathan. Both just couldn't get it through their egos that other players, the physically weaker, the socially weaker, could and would strategize without Mike or Jonathan around. It was never betraying Mike it was them playing the game for themselves not for Mike. That was Mike's weakness not realizing that other people have brains and can use them without his permission, he would get angry if he saw that or someone told him that and then that person was dead to him and a candidate to be voted out because they betrayed him. Mike never got the hypocrisy of his own actions where he would give someone a handshake and promise not to vote them out and yet they were gone the very next tribal council. That is also why Mike lost the jury vote at the finale tribal council he just could not see past his strategy of honesty and integrity. Mike really didn't see that he was being a hypocrite and lying to people.

Sia gave Drea $100,000, which made me wonder if she gave out money for last season? I know Rick Devens commented on Drea's announcement post that it was life changing money for him, and Ricard reposted so I wondered if it was him. I looked on his page, but saw nothing about Sia giving him money. Someone stated she does it for "almost all" of the seasons of Survivor lately.
