That was not the only big Amazing Race news regarding the new season. For the first time in franchise history, the competition will actually begin outside of the United States, with Munich, Germany serving as the season 34 starting line. And in another franchise first that will surely be cheered by longtime fans, there will be zero non-elimination legs on the season.
Not only that, but there will be what CBS describes as a "game-changing element" that host Phil Keoghan will tease during the first leg, and the show will also visit "the ancient city of Petra, in Jordan, where teams will ride a train and experience a scene reminiscent of the 1963 Oscar-winning film Lawrence of Arabia, perform a Jordanian folk dance and learn the Arabic alphabet." Other locations on the itinerary include Austria, Italy, France, Spain, Iceland, while the race will conclude in Nashville.
This is a great article! Phil tells us something about each couple. I guess Derek and Claire went into the race a little over confident. "So there's definitely a lot of confidence. But I think they would be the first to admit that they were a little humbled by the race after getting into it and realizing, "Oh, okay, this is a little bit bigger and maybe harder than we thought."
See what Phil says about each team. I've already picked some favorites.
Did you get a chance to say goodbye to the other teams? Or was the extent of your exit what we got on the show?
Abby: So I think maybe the teams came back to the hotel or something after they heard the announcement. And I remember I was laying in bed, and I heard Luis and Derek yell, "We love you Abby and Will!" It could almost bring me to tears again. It was hard because we didn't get to say goodbye andit was just that moment with Phil of like, "This is it. Y'all tested positive." We don't even get it at the mat!
CBS will move The Amazing Race up an hour, from 10 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET/PT, to fill the hole created by the move of The Real Love Boat. Drama repeats will run in the last hour of primetime.
Thank the skies! There was no logical reason to move TAR to 10PM. They knew Love Boat was a loser so they should have put it on at 10PM from the start and just let it slowly die, instead of this car crash after 4 episodes.
Well, I understand why they did it, (to get some people to just sit through it) until the show they love, TAR would be on. But, like me, fans found other things to do, and just returned for TAR. This is wonderful news to hear today! Thanks so much!
