Season 38 Episode 18 - "The Hours" - February 8, 202
Seriously what is the point of all these checkpoints over 100 hours when there are no points earned, the winners for the day only getting a 5 minute head start. Are they trying to break the participants?
Well they are certainly making all the participants earn any prize money they will get if they don't quit or are medically disqualified.
Aneesa continues to irritate Jordan with her lack of effort. However the neverending legs do give evidence that everyone might as well walk as the only reward to coming first is a 5 minutes headstart for the next day.
I did note that during Aneesa and Jordan's argument after Aneesa's ankle was wrapped by the medic that her hands and fingers did not have any bandages on them. Aneesa clearly stated on last week's MTV podcast that she had also injured her finger on the bolos just like Olivia did.
While this slog of a final is becoming much more of an endurance race as is watching this season. The only highlight to this episode is that a lot was packed into one hour of viewing. Why can't they just do 1 hour episodes with all of this content, they can do it. Or if you have to have 90 minute episodes then pack in two episodes worth of material, please just shorten the seasons.

Yeah it really seems like the teams should get more than a few minute head start when they come in first by a good amount of time. They might as well all take their time and save their energy. This final does feel like it’s dragging on. I wish it would have all been in one or two episodes. I was impressed by Tori figuring out the pattern across the entire puzzle, but then the other two teams figured it out too so…. Nany eating the bread and massive pile of pasta at breakneck speed was something else! OMG I haven’t seen her do that before. Wow!

Season 38 Episode 19 - "The End of the Ride" - February 15, 2023 (This episode feels as if it is the end of the show)
The Final - Don't forget there are two more episodes left for the reunion - will this show never end?
Also The Challenge Australia dropped on Paramount+ this week, it is 10 episodes long and it is wonderful.
This last episode was so boring and unnecessary. The season actually started with some fun and excitement but hit a huge 6 week dead spot when split into teams. I truly wish they would switch from a 3 team mentally to a 4 to 5 team lineup for the final, it's more fun with more personalities.
Does anyone else thing the 3 day final was a total mess. The teams had to endure 3 days of torture just to finish in a cornfield and do an elimination challenge between two teams just to do do a copy of another elimination challenge. Season 38 is up there with most underwhelming final ever.
This final was an epic fail, DO BETTER MTV.

Agreed. This was drawn out, and I couldn't keep track of if it were the last challenge or not, probably because I lost interest. It would help if there were more teams. I even accidentally skipped the previous episode, and it didn't make a difference in the storyline.

Agreed the final was an epic fail. Really boring. They saved the most boring part of the final for the end. I don’t get that at all.
Congrats to the winners. I think their steady, calm approach to working together and to each part of the final served them well.

If anyone is interested and has Paramount+, The Challenge Australia season 1 10 episodes has dropped. I highly recommend watching this show it is easy to watch in 2 or 3 days. It is fun, big personalities; it is what the flagship show should be but has lost.

I even accidentally skipped the previous episode, and it didn't make a difference in the storyline. I lost track of things a bit when they were doing the ball in the bucket challenge. I thought all three teams were going to participate in this. I didn’t realize that it was just the two teams, and the loser would then be eliminated, until that challenge was almost over. I guess I wasn’t paying attention when TJ explained the rules, etc for that one. It makes sense to me now that they’d eliminate another team because Horacio and Olivia could have still be there at that point. I listened to Devin & Tori being interviewed on the Challenge podcast. Strangely enough they said that the very last challenge (getting out of the rooms) took 5 1/2 hours! Editing smooshed it down to what….maybe 10 minutes on the final episode? That just proves to me the last challenge (especially) was incredibly boring to watch so they left most of it on the cutting room floor.

Over 5 hours? I don't know why they thought repeated challenges would make good tv. The forks through sheetrock was good once, but I don't have to see it again. Or a puzzle made of cinderblocks.

It is fun, big personalities; it is what the flagship show should be but has lost. I started watching the Australia version a couple days ago, and have watched eight episodes so far. I’m enjoying it. Definitely some big personalities on this version…and more lying and scheming, so more drama! It’s refreshing to see new faces. It is a bit different without TJ as host. The host here is fine and seems like fun, but I miss TJ just a bit.

Yes definitely more fun and entertaining than the Ride or Dies season that just finished. That was a snoozefest in comparison.
Australia version - OMG the elimination challenge between Konrad and Troy! That was intense!!

Part 1 of the reunion show was fairly entertaining. Definitely no love lost between many of the participants...Nurys & Ravyn, Laurel & Michelle, Jay & Jakk, to name a few. They didn't get to Fessy & Moriah yet - that was part of the "cliff hanger" at the end of Part 1 apparently to get us to tune in for Part 2 Regarding the hate between Laurel & Michelle, to her credit Michelle did eventually own up to some of her stuff, which many of the cast applauded and seemed to appreciate. I can really do without ever seeing Fessy on my screen again, but it sounds like Moriah might call him out a bit. She did say that he's only her friend when it's convenient for him, or something like that. More to come on their partnership next episode, I think. Many tears shed all around when discussing Nany's moms passing. It hit the host (Maria M) hard, as she lost her mom around the same time as Nany. Maria got quite choked up at the beginning of her chat with Nany, and I think that set off tears throughout the group.

From cast members Instagram accounts it looks as if they were filming before Christmas 2022.
Reunions would be interesting if the people there would not interrupt the person asked the question and then start talking over each other and shouting and the question is never answered. Yes, I am talking to you Nurys and Nelson for talking over Ravyn.
The reunions are so non informative I am so glad that now we have podcasts were the individual player or team is interviewed and they can speak their piece.
Wish they would use Devyn Simone and Davonne to interview these fools as they ask the hard questions and they get answers.

The Challenge UK has dropped on Paramount Plus. It is only 5 episodes and follows a similar format to The Challenge UK. Again wonderful big personalities, absolutely brutal physical performances on the first daily challenges, the eliminations can also be brutal. The Pato Brawl, was just WOW. Whomever MTV got to direct these Challenges, film them, and edit them, is absolutely brilliant; you can feel the effort, the challengers are making especially in the physical one on one challenges and eliminations. Makes you wonder what the heck happened on the flagship show.

Season 38 Episode 21 otherwise known as Part 2 of the Reunion Special.
Why did they have to drag this out for two weeks I do not know. It did take two days to film, the arguments between Ravyn and Nurys, and Michele and Laurel last week lasted for a long time per Aneesa on the MTV podcast.
Turbo had a video clip which I did not see.
Lots and lots of questions to Fessy about his partnership with Moriah. I just wish Fessy would admit he is a jerk. It works for Bananas. Don't pretend you are a nice guy, you are not. I think people would be more excepting of him if he just accepted he is an ass, and he screwed over Moriah.
Moriah called out Aneesa for being a mean girl.
Chauncey called out the mean girls saying crap behind Amber's back and that included Aneesa.
Aneesa got all offended and said she was nice. I know that is the narrative the cast goes with that Aneesa is the Elimination Queen and Mother figure of the group but I call BS on both.
Amber announced that she has autism. She said she has always has anxiety in social situations and has certain type of behaviors that are spot on symptoms of autism. I do think that is what a lot of the girls picked up on but no one recognized it as autism and instead called Amber "fake" and therefore all the Amber hate.
Thank Goodness the World Championship start next week and is only 10 or 12 episodes long.

The two parts of the reunion show easily could have been combined into one. It did not need to be dragged out over two weeks. The Turbo video clip was pretty crazy. He insulted quite a few of the contestants. A couple of memorable parts were when he said Nany was cheap, and said that Fessy wasn’t important enough to comment on. Everyone there looked annoyed by the clip and many were rolling their eyes. He flipped everyone off at the end and said he’ll be getting his revenge. Good grief. The Nelson - Olivia “relationship” was discussed. Things were tense between them. Nelson was like a hurt puppy, while Olivia seemed pretty cold about the entire subject, saying that she had to “find herself” and figure out what was best for her. At some point she decided that he wasn’t what she needed in her life. I’m not sure I heard Kayce or her brother utter a word the entire part 2 episode. Fessy looked bored even during the Moriah discussion. I lol as he later explained something about girls being attracted to him because he takes things so slowly, and really listens to them and spends time getting to know him….and that he doesn’t move too fast with girls like other guys. Whatever Messy Fessy

Whatever Messy Fessy I liked the part Moriah called out Aneesa for being mean and Aneesa replied that since she was so much younger that they had nothing in common so there was nothing to talk about. Aneesa is 41, Tori (Aneesa's best friend) is 29, Horacio is 26, Moriah is 26. Aneesa has no problem talking to Tori, Cory (30), and Horacio. In fact Aneesa had many long conversations with Horacio as she speaks Spanish. Aneesa is lying.

And she is NOT the Elimination Queen. Her record ain't all that. IMO, the REAL Elimination Queen is Cara Maria, regardless of how anyone feels about her. Aneesa needs to just hang it up, seriously. I'm so sick of her wasting a spot every season. MTV needs to stop casting her. She's only there for the paycheck, not because she gives a crap about winning. Because if she really cared about winning, she would be trying to get into shape during the off season. And I'm also so OVER her being proclaimed a "puzzle queen". Girl, I can do puzzles too. From my couch or at a table. I do not think I can be on the Challenge & go far based on this! Duh. She's ridiculous.

From my couch or at a table. I do not think I can be on the Challenge & go far based on this! Duh. She's ridiculous. Absolutely, 1000% agree about Cara Maria. Regardless of her personal issues and horrid taste in men, Cara Maria changed her body and worked on her memorization skills, both helped her win Challenges. It irks me to no end that Aneesa is called The Elimination Queen. Just because Aneesa had been in 22+ eliminations she has won half and lost half and I believe that means a .5 win ratio. Not that great. There are many other female Challengers that have way better win/loss ratio then Aneesa. The reason she is thrown into elimination before a final is because NO ONE wants to run a final with her. What is really funny about Aneesa being in the final. I truly thought she would overpower Nany and win the elimination for her team. Jordan and Aneesa vs Tori and Devin would have been close as The Jordanimal would never have given up if they messed up the puzzle. The final actually lasted 5.5 hours. Aneesa legitimately had a chance to win this final. I didn't really watch the last episode of the final until last night. I wanted to clear my DVR queue and watched the entire 3 episode run. Calling that final a 100 hour final is a joke. The teams got to go home to base camp each night. They had food, water, fire, and a bed. After Aneesa and Jordan were eliminated T&D and N&B sat around camp for 10 hours. How is that even considered part of a 100 hour final. The teams were not timed in each of the legs. So there was no point doing them fast if a team had already completed the leg. That is why I enjoyed the Aussie and UK finals so much, they were timed and the fastest combined time won the final. It's obvious now that their would have been two eliminations before the last leg of the final. If Olivia had not been injured I do believe they would have gone against T&D and that would have been an epic battle. I listened to The Official MTV Podcast winners interview with Tori & Devin and they both say some very insightful things about the game. Devin said that players have strengths and weaknesses and that most players depend only on their strengths to win the Challenge. Most players do nothing to improve their weaknesses, like learn to swim or practice puzzles. Devin said he felt so bad about not winning season 37 because he could not get his ass up a mountain and he never wanted to feel that way again that he deliberately trained doing a lot of running and he hates running. Devin made comments that you have to have enough self awareness to recognize your weakness and to do something to improve on them. All I could think of was Aneesa, Aneesa, Aneesa. All she had to do is work on the cardio, trivia, and puzzles and she would have been in a lot more finals. Also as Bananas said it none of the guys who made the final were the huge muscle bound guys. They were all the leaner ones, and guess who won, the flabby, non-athletic one.

Finished listening to all of the Official MTV podcasts for the season. Devyn Simone hosted and was brilliant with the questions and getting the quests to answer them.
Finished listening to the rest of the Death, Taxes, and Bananas podcast on The Ringer on Spotify. The last episode was with Bill Simmons who helped get Bananas to start the podcast and covered the final. I luv'ed it when Bill Simmons said that Fessy will never win a final and neither would Cory or Nelson. Nelson won't win a final because he makes too many stupid moves. Thank you Bill Simmons. Cory is in a similar situation were he has the muscles but not the brains.
Bill though Devin would never win because of his lack of endurance. But Devin did actually work on his endurance after missing out winning season 37. He still smokes but he upped his cardio.

Luv Bill Simmons analysis of Fessy:
Fessy will never win a Challenge. There is always an excuse. It is always someone else's fault. It was the wrong challenge. Cannot acknowledge when someone else does well, he will discount the ability, task or event. To win a Challenge you need to be well rounded, good at everything, and have endurance. Fessy is not good at everything and does not have the endurance. He is not a good partner.
He is like a NBA player who always gets traded. He is too arrogant and it is too much fun to root against him.
