I have the lower tier subscription, $5.99 per month I believe, so will get short commercials for the TV shows. I do like that in the upper right hand corner they put in a timer for how long the ads will last, usually 1:30 minutes.
The movies will run ad free which is nice.
Watching Only Murders in the Building.
Amy Schummer is playing herself ... staying in Sting's penthouse suite while he is on tour.
Shirley McLaine is playing season 2 victim's mother.
Tina Fey is playing a rival podcaster.
Some of the movie selections are good.
Watched The Princess last night. Very good a twist on the kidnapped princess and a little bit of martial arts thrown in.
FX streams its cable content here as well so if you want to see The Old Man you can see it here also.

A little bit of Martial Arts thrown in...try A LOT of Martial Arts thrown in. That's why I had a hard time watching it. Yes, it was great that the Princess being forced into an unwanted marriage is fighting her way out of it; but, come on, female centric much? Even her father, the King, looks like a wimp and her barbarian not-bethrothed is psychotic. I watched to the end - yet again - another happy Princess ending with all her cohorts and wedding attendees happy. However they didn't show the peasants...were they happy, too?

I don't know how you all feel about murder mystery types of shows, but I have been watching a show called Murdoch Murder Mysteries. It is a Canadian production set it Toronto before in the late 1890's & they have now progressed into the early 1900's. It has been running for 15 seasons & Hulu has the 1st 13 seasons available. I really am enjoying it. I am almost finished with the 13 seasons & looking forward to them making the next 2 seasons available. .

Well it was better Princess story than your average Disney film. I did like they didn't go too overboard with the martial arts (we will have to disagree on this point) as I have seen some films where it was ridiculous. I did like that the writers and producers didn't throw "woke" culture and casting choices in the viewers faces, explaining that the king welcomed all cultures and folks into the kingdom. I do believe historically in many trading cities you see a large variety of folks, religions, and cultures similar to the Kingdom of Sicily before fanatic Christian monks introduced a reign of hatred/intolerance of things not "Christian". I appreciated that the writers tried to weave in all the strong princess, what do I do in a kidnapped situation, vs making it "woke", vs having a satisfactory storyline. Did they succeed in all parts? No, but it was a fun Saturday night movie.

If you haven’t seen Under The Banner Of Heaven you should give it a shot. Andrew Garfield stars as a Mormon detective investigating murder and Mormon fundamentalists. It is 7 episodes and we’ll worth the watch.

Episode 4 of Only Murders In The Building Wow. The elevator scene was mind blowing on several levels.

I laughed so hard watching that scene I cried. Their movements combined with Tina Fey's facial expressions were hysterical.

One new show I can't give up - I love it so much. It is out of FX and titled: Welcome to Wrexham. (Wed on FX...Thurs on Hulu) It plays on Disney Plus in Wales.
I won't describe it except to say it is an ongoing (weekly episodes) documentary from the combined talents of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny.
P.S. On 9/8 they were on a promotional tour on Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

The Patient - Steve Carell is a therapist and without giving too much away one of his patients is nuts and takes the idea of at-home therapy to another level. Chaos ensues. I'm four episodes in, and they are only around 20 min long. Very interesting and creepy.

"The Bear" and "Abbott Elementary." I feel like I've met all of these characters before in real life, lol. I have a lot of acquaintances teaching at public schools doing a lot with very little, and being from Chicago I know people (and that restaurant) like "The Bear." Also, I love "What We Do In The Shadows" with the BB Colin Robinson and Guillermo, lol.

Someone on the set must have been a therapist/social worker because I don't think that I have seen such a true and well done therapist role. It's fun to play along (I would reflect here, and universalize here...etc.) and I feel like it speaks to me about the high stakes we have as social workers when we work with clients. My only complaint is that they are short and drop weekly!

Has anyone else watched/watching The Handmaid's Tale? I am on season 3...oh my god! Great acting...and very entertaining! It has made me cry, get angry, sad and yell at the TV, lol! I hear season 6 will be the final season...

I'm watching it! But in bits and pieces since it strikes such a cord right now. Elizabeth Moss is insanely talented; what she does with her subtle expressions is insane. Also, one of the young actresses in Young Sheldon is on it...damn, she is so good! It's a hard watch.

I hear season 6 will be the final season... Love Handmaid's Tale! I'm all caught up right now on all the seasons, & actually did a re-watch (which I almost never do with anything) because I got my husband hooked on it while he's recovering from surgery. I haven't heard anything on what is projected to be the final season, but I feel like they are at a point where if they go beyond 1 more season I think it will get tiresome.

Did anyone watch Secrets & Sisterhood: The Sozahdahs? A family of 10 sisters and a single immigrant mother from Pakistan. They fight hard and they love hard.
Think The Kardashians without all the fame...

Finally watched it last weekend. It was good. Didn't know Ryan Reynolds was such a good business man. Fascinating behind the scenes view of a sports team. Luv'ed the infographics especially when the did the one comparing Rob to Ryan's social media and TV money vs Movie money. Luv'ed what they did for the town. Luv'ed the stories of the local people. I live in the area where the Washington Football Team is the local NFL team to root for. The owner Daniel Snyder is a prime example of a man trying to relive his childhood through his live action football team and not letting the professionals do their jobs and creating a toxic work environment. Love that Rob and Ryan had a mission statement to help the town and the team and not screw Wrexam like previous owners had.

It was a bawdy, entertaining show, with some gorgeous scenery and costumes, great acting, and humor. I will miss this show! However, I was satisfied with the ending and glad it didn't end with a cliff hanger. But would I have loved more seasons? Absolutely! I finished The Bear and loved Richie's arch. It also gave me some insight into fine dining. My friend and I were at a restaurant and they do special these special surprises (I had mentioned we usually do beer and chicken wings and they gave us champagne and chicken wings). We were there last week and our captain told us that they review the reservations, and now I have a better idea as to what they do. Could have done without Carmy's romance. His gf was an unreal character; does this woman get mad? Nope. She's just loving and supportive and everyone loves her. Blah. Hopefully for season 3 they have less of the romance and more of the restaurant.
