Super smart of that one guy on the red tribe to suggest using the hole on the end of the bamboo. That made it so easy.

But not one person on that tribe knows how to build a shelter. Or anything.

There's a couple all girl alliances already...hopefully they last. Nobody is getting on my nerves yet, so that's good.

I'm actually glad the old guy has immunity for two times, because that's always an easy target for the younger majority, and considering how things went at the challenge. I felt bad for him, with Sami (I think?) constantly blaming him when the ball dropped. There are lots of good stories with the cast this season, and I have to say I just LOVE a two hour episode!!!! (But, I will NOT love an Amazing Race one hour episode, so I better just shut up now.)

Why would Gabler say he'd use his shot in the dark?? He's got an idol!! I thought that was pretty dumb. Janine couldn't get under the log, so it's not his fault that they lost. And, surprise surprise, the girls looking to turn on each other already!

Rainbow Brite is voted out - so much for the girl's alliance.
Did he not use his idol??

Rainbow Brite is voted out - so much for the girl's alliance. Did he not use his idol?? I don't think he did! Guess that Shot in the Dark ploy worked.... Too bad the teacher went home. Of course it's someone not "strong," also not "normal" looking, and incidentally not white.

I love Survivor, some of the backstories are so interesting. We chose Owen but Morriah was voted out. There are some good players( well they sound good) this season. I couldn't make out who was who when they were covered in mud.. Yay! Survivor is back.

Rainbow Brite is voted out - so much for the girl's alliance. Did he not use his idol?? Hahaha! I kept saying she was wearing a clown outfit & then when she got voted out I said to my TV “bye-bye Rainbow Brite!” I Just couldn’t take her seriously with that whole head to toe rainbow thing going on. The little kids she teaches may like it, but as a grown-ass adult, I just couldn’t & can’t.

Guys! I'm actually watching this season. I gave up years ago but after doing the bios, I was like...well, maybe I should watch now It was fun! I enjoyed the first episode. Jeff really looks like he enjoys himself They absolutely should have faked Gabler out and voted him out. But between Morriah and Owen...they made the right choice. That team is going to need the muscle. First stand out to me was Sami. We shall see

That was a well-done episode; usually, I get a little impatient with the backstories and find them forced and pity-porn. But I was moved! Some great backstories here, and I felt that they were organic.

I was very impressed with the guy who had the idea of putting the flint in the end of the bamboo, the guy who had a strategy for digging and found the supplies in half an hour, and the guy who solved the “move two bones” puzzle. Classic fun immunity challenge to start the season off! So glad Survivor is back on!

Of course this cast has seen the prior two seasons, so makes sense that they would expect it.

Ok, can someone explain "shot in the dark" to me. I haven't watched Survivor in years and I thought he was just using that as a saying. Thanks!

Ok, can someone explain "shot in the dark" to me. I haven't watched Survivor in years and I thought he was just using that as a saying. Thanks! Every player in the game was given one “shot in the dark die” which provided a one in six chance of a last minute immunity at tribal council, with the odds increasing each time someone else played it. The trick was that in order to play the die you'd have to give up your vote at that tribal council.

Great first episode. Lots of players I am rooting for already.
I like when there are lots of choices so that is fun!
Jeff was so into it - I LOVED IT!
Sami seems like he is going to be a loose cannon later with his anger at Gabler and Gabler being all dude, Im not! I like both Morriah and Owen so bummed they were the choice. Not a fan of anyone who claims you can make people do things (the clinical psychologist). Unless you actually manage to pull it off. We shall see but I highly doubt it. So those are my 2 early potential dislikes. Havent officially moved them into that column but suspicious of me liking them long term. the list of who I am early rooting for is much longer so I am happy about that!
I like how Rainbow Brite is so sweet and positive (regardless of her fashion choices). She quickly and successful did the balance beam, I call weak sauce that she is less strong than the other 2 woman. I think it was a mistake for the woman as the one woman stated to have her go but I like Owen equally so 6 of 1 or half a dozen of the other on who went home.
Already can't wait for next week!

First time ever I used the streaming service to watch the episode the following day. I was very worried about commercial breaks. There were none. Also worried about the commercial breaks being abrupt and you would know they are missing. Not a problem the transitions seemed seamless. Enjoyed that I could stop watching and pick it up later no problem.
Streaming issue what causes it? Does the streaming ever have a bit of a hiccup and the sound and the mouth movements are not in snyc? It can be annoying so I started not looking at the players faces when they talked.
Morriah Young, OMG is she a MaryAnn clone? The bright bubbly personality. Have the season 43 contestants seen seasons 41 and 42? To know to vote her out immediately else she will win?
Uh, I was surprised that the tribe thought Morriah was weaker than Jeanine Zheng as Jeanine is the smallest girl. What do they see that we don't?
Overall enjoyed the first episode.
Mike Gabler the man's strategy is out there. In life, in Survivor, in The Challenge, NEVER, EVER, volunteer to go into elimination or give up your immunity idol. So glad Elisabeth "Elie" Scott was able to convince him not to throw himself in. However, Gabler sure as heck gave up his conviction to be eligible to be voted out very quickly. Mmmmmm....

This statement from Sami really put me off. Dude lots of people have furbabies and you just said something incredibly insensitive regarding how you treat them in death. Pet People will not be happy with you. I was really enjoying the episode and that comment really jarred me. Some may think me overly sensitive but it is like joking about how the body of a family member is treated and not in a good way.

This is one challenge where you have to communicate with your partner. The team with the straight shot figured it out and did you notice how they stood one right behind each other and where able to do the "one shot", there is no blaming one person over this.

Reminds me of Shan the pastor who claimed she could make her flock do anything she wants. Oh, BTW she no longer is the paster of that flock she has a website on youtube now. Guess she couldn't control her flock that much.

People that forget how they get along as they are so wanting to win the title and $1M of Sole Survivor. As you have to get along with even the most difficult people.
Sad about hearing Shan the pastor. Really you need to realize you are a Godly role model and not just talking it but walking it.
