It seems to have gone without notice, but Clint Walker died last week at the age of 90. Cheyenne Bodie rides off into the sunset one last time.

How sad, she had nobody to turn to.

Very sad. Neither wealth or fame matter when one is battling personal demons, I suppose.

I am so so so sad about KATE. This is just so heartbreaking. She was a FASHION ICON. She has a lovely family. Did you all know her BIL is the comedian/actor David Spade. Both my DIL's are ADDICTED to everything and anything Kate Spade. I am shocked and sad. Suicide. Rest In Peace Kate Spade.

So sad and awful. Obviously, no one is safe from inner demons, but I was especially surprised given how fun and happy her designs are. I have so many of her things, because they do make me so happy; now they make me sad

Prior to seeing her death notice, I did not know what Kate looked like. She was a very youthful 55 year old and leaves behind a daughter who is only 13. Prayers for her family and may she rest in peace.

I was wearing her gold sequined shoes on Sunday. I'm so shocked. You think people 'have it all' and then you realize everyone struggles. That poor housekeeper though....

You just never know what people are dealing with . . . on the inside. And 'having it all' doesn't shield you from that.

RIP, Kate Spade. I lost my sister to suicide many years ago. You realize, over time, that people who commit suicide can no longer cope with things and see it as their only way out. What many think is a selfish act is really the person's only recourse because of the pain they are in.
My heart goes out to Kate's family and especially her young daughter. My sister left 3 behind all those years ago, and, yes, she loved them very much. But, the pain she felt was too much to bear.

I'm so sorry Noreality. This must bring so many feelings for you.
I hope all families of people who commit suicide don't blame themselves, mental illness usually doesn't have outward appearances.

I'm very sorry you went through that pain, but I'm grateful you said this the way you did. While I have not lost anyone as close as you to suicide, I have two dear friends who did - one a brother and the other a father. I've listened to them talk about how some of the well meaning things that people say about suicide can be so hurtful to the survivors simply because they don't realize all that is involved. One of them once said to me "We have to come to terms with knowing that depression can be a fatal disease". That did so much to put it in perspective for me. While it is horrible that we go through this with so many people, including celebrities like Kate Spade or Robin Williams, it seems like each time we do there is a little more discussion about the complexity of mental illness, and those discussions bring about compassion and understanding. So as horrible as it is, if we can keep on talking about those realities, we can make something good come from a tragedy.

I have a close GF that lost her only son to suicide. Her son, Jason had just become a new dad as well. Depression is so painful. My GF and her Hubby still struggle with the loss of their Jason every.single.day. That was 9 years ago and their grandson, Mark, is a clone of Jason. At least they have that part of their Jason with them in their grandson, Mark. Mark does brighten their lives daily. Is their even a cure for depression? My GF and her Hubby are very very involved in Suicide Prevention. They do all the "overnight walks" and attend all the conferences and symposiums on suicide. It helps them with their grief. REST IN PEACE KATE.

My girlfriend lost her father to suicide, when she was 7 months pregnant. Hearing Kate Spade didnt want to take medication, saddens me. I'll always be on it, and I hate it, but it's better than the alternative..

I read that she was afraid of seeking help because it might hurt her brand. I believe we have all had/have a loved one, a friend or even ourselves that have suffered through or going through a mental illness. And there is no shame in any of it. I wish she had known how many of us would have supported her brand because she sought help. Because we can identify.
Just a good reminder for me to keep reaching out to people and be honest with my own issues.
Hugs to you all!!

Yes, that it would take away the look of her brand( the happy outlook)..but it wouldn't, she wouldn't have to lie and fake it, which is a terrible thing to try and do when you are depressed, it would have actually made her life, the one she was aiming for. I wish I could have spoken to her, but that's just wishful thinking. I worked on our crisis line, and it's very hard to just listen, and take in what people have to say about depression..and what they will, and won't do. I hope her soul is at peace now..

I was thinking the same. This death just rocked me. I mean, she didn't mean a lot to me (although I had just bought gold sequined shoes of her's) but just about mental health and everything that people have said above.

Jerry Maren died today. He was 98, the last remaining Munchkin and evidently the final person with a speaking part from The Wizard Of Oz. RIP Mr. lollipop guild guy.

RIP Jerry Maren, and all of the other Munchkins and characters of The Wizard of Oz. That movie was really magical, for its time. I'm glad kids still get to see it when it's replayed, cause the visuals are so cool. I read (and LOVED) all of the "Oz" books when I was a kid. I think there's 14 of them that were written by L. Frank Baum, and various others, as well. We all could use a little bit of Oz these days. . .

TCM is running The Wizard Of Oz tonight. It is still magical today, not just for its time.

Going back to Kate Spade for a moment, her husband issued a statement correcting some of the incorrect information that was being passed around about her - Kate was the most beautiful woman in the world. She was the kindest person I’ve ever known and my best friend for 35 years. My daughter and I are devastated by her loss, and can’t even begin to fathom life without her. We are deeply heartbroken and miss her already.
Kate suffered from depression and anxiety for many years. She was actively seeking help and working closely with her doctors to treat her disease, one that takes far too many lives. We were in touch with her the night before and she sounded happy. There was no indication and no warning that she would do this. It was a complete shock. And it clearly wasn’t her. There were personal demons she was battling.
For the past 10 months we had been living separately, but within a few blocks of each other. Bea was living with both of us and we saw each other or spoke every day. We ate many meals together as a family and continued to vacation together as a family. Our daughter was our priority. We were not legally separated, and never even discussed divorce. We were best friends trying to work through our problems in the best way we knew how. We were together for 35 years. We loved each other very much and simply needed a break.
This is the truth. Anything else that is out there right now is false. She was actively seeking help for depression and anxiety over the last 5 years, seeing a doctor on a regular basis and taking medication for both depression and anxiety. There was no substance or alcohol abuse. There were no business problems. We loved creating our businesses together. We were co-parenting our beautiful daughter. I have yet to see any note left behind and am appalled that a private message to my daughter has been so heartlessly shared with the media.
My main concern is Bea and protecting her privacy as she deals with the unimaginable grief of losing her mother. Kate loved Bea so very much. Sadly, the first place I saw the statement was Page Six ... which also has countless entries that repeat some of the information that Andy clearly states is not true. pagesix.com/2018/06/06/kate-spades-husband-she-was-battling-personal-demons/

Despite all his grief ... I applaud Kate's husband for coming out this quickly and posting that message.
I read this yesterday (Wed) and Kate passed on Tuesday.
The media can be quick to spin. Hopefully, everyone will respect the family now during their time of pain and grief.
