Richard Harrison, aka "The Old Man" on History Channel's "Pawn Stars", has died at age 77 after battling Parkinson's. He was a loveable curmudgeon whom hubby and I enjoyed as fans of his show. May he rest in peace.

From everything I have ever heard, he was an awful man.

I read an article that praised him up and down for giving us the Jackson talent...then a couple of paragraphs later it talks about an interview where MJ said he was so afraid of Joe that there were times it would make him feel like throwing up. I think Joe screwed up those kids and the ones that made it big did it despite him not because of him.

Yeah. I say good riddance to Joe. If there's something after this, I'm guessing he will NOT be resting in peace. He's got a lot to account for.

Science Fiction author Harlan Ellison died yesterday at the age of 84. This depresses me so much. I really loved his short stories.

So sorry to hear of Tab Hunter's passing. I didn't know anything about his life, and the article that Eastcoastmom posted is very thorough and very telling. RIP Mr. Hunter. I hope you had a good life.

Did Nancy Jr fall out with her brother? It seems odd she tweeted.. My sister and I thank you all for your very thoughtful messages of condolence. Our mother was a fighter until the end when her brave, loving heart gave out. She is survived by her sister, her daughters, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She made a difference. No mention of her brother..

Very sad. She did seem to have many troubles in her life. On the show (Ladies of London) she was very moody and seemed depressed a lot of the time. It seems that she is one more example of how, having all the money, pedigree, glamour, beauty, and money in the world doesn't necessarily make for a happy life or a happy person. I hope you can RIP Ms. Neilson.

It's especially sad that he was the victim of a violent crime--stabbed to death by someone who was stealing the mirrors off of his car. (For any who saw this while it didn't make sense, my apologies. I edited it to fix it from my phone, but my phone was being weird, and the edit apparently didn't take. )

The article says his death is being treated as a murder. Yet another reminder of the violent world that we live in.

Sad to realize that Charlotte Rae outlives two of the three kids from Diff'rent Strokes. She was definitely one of those actresses that I think many of us wanted to believe was the same person in life that she was as Mrs Garrett.
