Wow. I'm shocked. I am actually taking a suicide class this semester. But I do know that you have to take any and all ideations seriously. That is horrible.

There must be a fashionable party in the afterlife because Andre Leon Talley died yesterday. I'm really glad he was able to have his book and documentary finished so people can learn about his legacy. He worked for Karl and Anna during an amazing creative time in NYC to now, and he was like a walking encyclopedia when it came to fashion. I wonder if Anna Wintour will make a statement, if any?

Wow. I'm shocked. I am actually taking a suicide class this semester. But I do know that you have to take any and all ideations seriously. That is horrible. It is so devastating for anyone that has a loved one commit suicide. My husband had a very good (work) friend commit suicide just last week. He has known JEFF for quite awhile as my husband has been doing Rail for 45 years. (Brett works for the Federal Gov/Transportation). He is shocked. Brett has not seen him in person for awhile as the Federal Gov has curtailed travel meetings due to Covid. Brett used to travel 3 weeks out of 4. But they all ZOOM. He is devastated. Brett cannot figure this out. They all (10) of them were Zooming just last week. Talk, chat, joke, laugh BUT get the work done. And now he is gone. It made all the news. I'm so sorry for your loss Kar. It is a shock and I feel for his family. The population most at risk for death by suicide is white, middle-aged men.
Kao, when I heard the news of Leon Talley I thought of you because I remember you telling us that you had read and enjoyed his book.

Every single fashion outlet has done a tribute to Andre right now, while there's nothing but crickets from Vogue. I don't know what Anna is playing at but it is not a good look AT ALL because people are beginning to comment about it.
momrek06, I'm very sorry for your loss. Suicide is a very hard thing to deal with.

She lives in so much agony. Since childhood. Sinéad O'Connor has been hospitalized following the disappearance and death by suicide of her teenage son last week. The singer, 55, said she was going to the hospital Thursday after posting a lengthy message on Twitter earlier that day saying she had "decided to follow [her] son." In a Thursday morning tweet, the "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer wrote, "There is no point living without him," referring to her son, Shane O'CIn a follow-up tweet she shared late Thursday, Sinéad apologized, writing, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. I am with cops now on way to hospital." She continued, "I'm sorry I upset everyone. I am lost without my kid and I hate myself. Hospital will help a while. But I'm going to find Shane. This is just a delay." "Everything I touch, I ruin. I only stayed for him. And now he's gone. I've destroyed my family. My kids don't want to know me." Sinéad's hospitalization comes after years of mental health struggles. Recounting her traumatic childhood, she told PEOPLE in May 2021 that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, complex post-traumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder. In 2015, she underwent a radical hysterectomy to treat endometriosis, and was "triggered" following the surgery, she said. She later spent time in psychiatric facilities following the procedure. After the procedure, O'Connor would sometimes post alarming cries for help on social media ("I have taken an overdose," she announced on Facebook in 2015). "I was mental," she admitted, referring to her struggles with mental illness. "But I don't regret those 'embarrassing' videos. I'm quite proud, in a weird way, that I was that open ... The nature of a singer is to be emotionally honest. I've always been pretty open. And I have no regrets." people.com/music/sinead-oconnor-hospitalized-after-teenage-sons-death-by-suicide/Attachments:

Vogue (and Anna) finally posted something! She said she wanted "to find the right words" and apparently she's extremely upset over Andre. Okay, I can buy this since they were extremely close at one point and it was obviously a shock to her. I'm glad they made their peace with each other before he died or it would have been worse. Page Six did a very nice writeup about this and Andre in general: pagesix.com/2022/01/19/andre-leon-talley-and-anna-wintour-made-up-before-his-death/We can also unfortunately count him as yet another person Covid has stolen from us.

Also sheds a little more light as to why they spoke out and asked people to stop speculating. As painful as it is to lose a loved one to suicide, it's got to be so much harder to go through it with the kind of speculation that was floating around.

I'm getting my Masters in Social Work. I graduate in May! What I read in the textbook about suicide and media is that there are certain parameters to follow as not to glorify death by suicide since there has been evidence that after a public person's death others follow. That may be behind the reason why people writing about Daughtry's daughter omitted how she died. (Anther phrase they are advised to avoid is saying 'a successful suicide attempt' which I found interesting).

I hope this multi-talented man receives the same coverage as Bob Saget. Anderson won three Emmys. For his animated show 'Louis' and an Emmy for his role as Christine Baskets in 'Baskets.' He was nominated in that role three times. Besides standup he hosted Family Feud in the late 90s through 2001. To me Louis Anderson was not a cookie cutter on screen parent in a poorly written sitcom. He was the complicated Christine Baskets. You wanted to hug her, you wanted to shake her, you wanted to do both at the same time. She always meant well, even when selfish. You wanted to defend her from the local bully Moms in Bakersfield, California. Your heart soared when Christine found her true love in the most unexpected of places. Anderson died at a hospital in Las Vegas of complications from cancer, said Glenn Schwartz, his longtime publicist. Anderson had a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Schwartz said in a previous Tuesday statement.
The St. Paul, Minnesota native won a 2016 Emmy for best supporting actor for his unlikely role in the comedy "Baskets" as Christine Baskets, mom to twin sons played by Zach Galifianakis. Anderson received three consecutive Emmy nods for his performance.
Anderson's comedic debut started on "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson where the comedian did his first TV standup routine in 1984.
He's been a familiar face elsewhere on TV, including as host of a revival of the game show "Family Feud" from 1999 to 2002, and on comedy specials and made frequent late-night talk show appearances.
In his role on "Baskets" Anderson told USA TODAY in 2017 he'd been "training to play" the gender-switching role after incorporating the memory of his mother, Ora Zella Anderson, into his standup acts.
"My goal is that when you watch me, you might say, ‘That’s Louie Anderson,’ but within a few minutes I completely disappear and Christine completely emerges,” he said of his award-winning role.
Actor and comedian Pauly Shore tweeted about Anderson's declining health Thursday on Twitter after visiting him in the hospital.
"I say this with a heavy heart just left the hospital in Las Vegas where Louie Anderson his sisters and close friend were kind enough to let me say my goodbyes," he wrote.
Anderson voiced an animated version of himself as a kid in "Life with Louie." He created the cartoon series, which first aired in prime time in late 1994 before moving to Saturday morning for its 1995-98 run. Anderson won two Daytime Emmy Awards for the role.
The comedian made many series cameos throughout his career including "Scrubs" and "Touched by an Angel," and he appeared on the big screen in 1988's "Coming to America" and in last year's sequel to the Eddie Murphy comedy.

When my friends and I would go out on Saturday nights (late 80's) we would listen to Bat Out of Hell on the way (we went to another state to the bars). We didn't dance much but always requested Paradise...... I had an entire dance/acting routine to it that I would do out on the dance floor. Damn, it was fun. Even now I'll hear "stop right there!" and remember. And if I am at home or alone, I do the parts of the routine.

RIP Mr. Poitier. A first, a door opener. And a real gentleman. When I was in Catholic school, we sang "Amen". My favorite song! Wish I could find this movie to buy, but unsuccessful.
