Oh my! That was fast. Rip, John. Sent from my SAMSUNG-S7 using Tapatalk My dad just passed from the same kind of tumor. He was only a couple of years younger than him but only lived less than 4 months after diagnosis. They just caught it too late. We tried surgery but it had spread. He was not able to withstand chemo and radiation. When I heard John McCain had passed 2 weeks to the day my dad did, I just cried. I can't even imagine knowing you aren't going to live...... Hugs to you.

It seems just like yesterday when you first mentioned this libgirl2 so I can only imagine how quickly it all went for you.
Your attitude about how you just got to the point where all you wanted was to see your dad in comfort and at peace tells me that you loved your father a great deal.
Take Care, BB/Cuddles

Evidently that was done at the request of Queen Elizabeth herself. From one Queen to another.

Vanessa Marquez Dead - Former 'ER' Actress Shot & Killed By Police at 49Very, very sad. In addition to the strange and tragic circumstances of Vanessa's death, there's a very disturbing allegation at the very end of the article about her, saying that she was blacklisted from ER by co-star George Clooney - that last October, she made the allegation she was blacklisted from ER by George Clooney after complaining of racial discrimination and sexual harassment. The article says: "According to the report, officers were called to her home to check on her welfare. When they arrived, she was suffering from seizures and appeared unable to take care of herself. Officers called both paramedics and a mental health clinician, and continued to talk with her. After about 90 minutes, she armed herself with a BB gun and pointed it at the officers, causing them to open fire." www.justjared.com/2018/08/31/vanessa-marquez-dead-former-er-actress-shot-killed-by-police-at-49/

She went to TPTB on E.R. to tell them about Weinstein. Instead, she was fired from her job. Clooney was friendly with Weinstein. I believe there is far more human wreckage out there than we know of right now. Until 1997, she was a working actress doing fine in small parts. So, what happened during her E.R. period of employment? Something went terribly wrong; was her physical, emotional and mental decline tied to Weinstein? Exacerbated by being punished for talking about it? Plenty of victims who speak out become 'the problem':the perpetrator protected.

I find it odd that the police spent 90 minutes with her. She was having a seizure and was disoriented. Why not let the paramedics in. There is no mention of a threat until 90 minutes in; they shoot her-after she points a gun at them. Or what appears to be a gun. The whole thing sounds chaotic.

In an article I read somewhere, they said that they had a social service worker there. It sounds like she was just not in a state to be able to communicate effectively and was frightened and disoriented. It must be terribly difficult to try to help someone who is in that condition. I don't blame the police for being frightened by the gun (even if it did turn out to be a BB gun), but I don't see why they couldn't shoot to disarm or distract without killing her. There just has to be something in between that they could have done, no?

There was a blurb on the local news where the police department asked that we not jump to conclusions, but wait until the full story is revealed.

More than proper both in Arizona, Washington and at his burial at the Naval Academy. Because the burial was private, the news cameras weren't there, but on the outside perimeter in a perfect spot to show the flyover with the missing man taking off to the heavens.
I've seen that before at the National Cemetery in Riverside, CA when my father was lowered into the ground. It wasn't for him, but an Admiral buried the same day. I think he would have gotten a kick out of it though because he wanted to be a naval aviator, but was rejected because of his eyes. Instead, he sailed the China Seas in the thick of it.
Anyway, seeing that, I teared up as I did during the Lying in State ceremonies and the eulogies.
You can find all the eulogies on You Tube under the search for John McCain Funeral.

RIP
It was kind of odd to see racist Farrakhan in the front row of Aretha's funeral. At least they didn't have him speak there.

There just has to be something in between that they could have done, no? It is nearly impossible to aim for and hit a limb. Arms and legs are more likely to be in motion, and are smaller than the torso. Police are trained that if the decision is made to shoot at a suspect, they are to aim for the largest part of the body mass. They are not only protecting themselves, but also anyone else in the vicinity. An injured person with a gun is just as dangerous - if not more so - than an uninjured person. The reason she was shot is that she was brandishing a gun. It is sad, yes . . . but she left the police no other options than to protect themselves and the public. (Hope I didn't mess up the quote box(es). They don't work quite the same on the new board.)

There just has to be something in between that they could have done, no? That is the heart of this. I think it's good to question things. It's how the system gets better. You pinpointed a problem that has impacted for the worse the lives of two groups of people: Those who have some form of mental illness and those who have physical disabilities. They are more likely to be shot by police than any other group. These shootings are almost always avoidable but happen due to lack of training . The majority of police officers in this country are not adequately trained on how to successfully interact with either group. There are some amazing police officers trying to change this, but hardly enough to impact us nationwide. Police officers are trained to shoot to kill during academy training . it is drummed into their heads daily that hesitation to shoot lethally means they will be murdered. So, they are given contradictory information; evaluate the situation before using force-but, you must use deadly force as every situation is a fatal encounter waiting to happen. Here is an article about the use of deadly force that is even handed. It's written by retired police officer Seth Stroughten. He is now a scholar who focuses on policing techniques. www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2014/12/police-gun-shooting-training-ferguson/383681The original point being people chose to punish Vanessa for coming forward. Or, they claimed , as they often do, that she was 'crazy.' What fdoes that do to a womans soul? To her self-worth? To have her terrible experience invalidated? She was victimized over and over. If this world was just, Vanessa s life would not have ended this way. That's the ache I have in my heart for her and so many others.

Yes, Charlie Brent and Cecily. 63 way too young. I know he had drug issues when he was growing up (his father partied with him) so maybe he sustained heart damage. I never thought his father was "cute" but I thought he was.

I never thought his father was "cute" but I thought he was. I really remember Charlie and Hayley more. I never liked Cecily, so I blocked her out! I thought his father was quite handsome and dashing in his younger days. Christopher was definitely better looking older man than his father. I didn't realize how much work he'd done in the addiction community. More of that Kennedy ethic of service to others.

I'm soooo sad, I loved Burt Reynolds. He was an absolutely gorgeous guy with a sense of humor and a giggle that cracked me up --- he was cocky and self-deprecating at the same time -- a kind of rare quality, and I thought he was really special. He wasn't everybody's cup of tea perhaps, but he was definitely mine. And he'll be greatly missed. RIP Burt. PS If anyone is interested in seeing Burt Reynolds at his best, (as he was, on the 'Tonight Show' with Johnny Carson) the 'Antenna TV' channel runs the old 'Tonight Show' episodes twice every night, and coincidentally, Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise are scheduled to be the guests on the show THIS WEEKEND, on late SUNDAY night. If you haven't ever seen the 3 of them together, Johnny, Burt and Dom were HILARIOUS together, and gave us some of the biggest laughs ever. I'll sure be watching!!!
