I just got home and started watching and OMG! I think Everything Everywhere All at Once might be sweeping the show! Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis both won in the supporting categories and I'm a soggy mess, crying over both of them. Amazing.
Cara Delevigne looks incredible in that red dress. Just stunning gown.

Both of them crying at receiving the awards really got to me! They were so excited and touched by the honor. It made me tear up!

I think Salma Hayek is going to be like Sophia Loren - sexy into her eighties and beyond. What a bombshell in that red dress! Every time I hear Antonio Banderas speak, I think of that Nasonex commercial and how my little cat was obsessed with it. She LOVED his voice and would come running whenever it came on. I feel like that's some sort of endorsement

I am thrilled that Ruth Carter got her second Oscar for the costume design for Wakanda Forever; the funeral scene alone was worth her win, and the costumes in the rest of the movie were beautiful. I'm also here for "All Quiet On The Western Front" winning Best Foreign Film and a few other categories.
I want "Everything Everywhere All at Once" to win everything, lol.

I was wondering why Travolta was getting so emotional introducing the In Memoriam segment....and then he said "hopelessly devoted" and I remembered Olivia

The Daniels won! OMG, two more big awards that EEAAO is nominated for. I can't believe I'm getting nervous! I really hope Brendan Frazer can pull out a win. I'm just not an Elvis OR Austin Butler fan AND I love a comeback story! Plus, I think BF is one of the nicest guys in Hollywood.

I am thrilled to bits for all of the winners tonight, including Best Song for "RRR" (if you haven't seen it you must, it's trippy as hell).
And none for that Andrea person, bye!

And none for that Andrea person, bye! That whole situation with Andrea Riseborough was such a bummer. She's SO talented and it sucks that what a lot of people now know her for is the voting nonsense. I haven't seen To Leslie, but by all accounts, she's excellent in it.

Are people happier for ANY winner more than they are for Ke Huy Quan!? I've been watching the backstage press interviews with winners and his is so charming. Everyone loves him. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzQbOEjmAxc

I haven't seen To Leslie, but by all accounts, she's excellent in it. It's a great role. Had she and...some of the people who were pushing her nom not did what they did it would have been solid. Telling people that Danielle and Viola were deadlocked in and "it wouldn't hurt" to vote for her to get that nom was against the rules and not the business. I think she should have taken Michelle Williams or Ana's slot, tbh.
I also think she took votes away from Cate because some people thought this poor lil lamb was being prosecuted and voted for her out of spite, while the folks upset about Viola/Danielle rallied around Michelle. Those Anon Oscar Voter interviews were...pretty telling.

I thought it was a really good show last night, one of my favorite Oscars. While I was not a big fan of EEAAO, I was very happy for the whole cast and crew. I did think the acting was excellent in that movie, especially Ke.
I cheered when they announce Brendan Fraser for best actor. I have always liked him and he seems just a real sweet person. This couldn't have happened to a nicer person.
Best song was a blast! So nice to have something fun and not just another boring power ballad, usually written by Diane Warren (who was nominated). Sorry, I have never been a fan as all her songs sound alike to me.
I also wondered why Travolta was getting choked up and then it hit me.

He'd also lost Kirstie; it was a tough year for John.
A lot of talk about who was left out of/missed in the Oscar 2023 In Memoriam. This happens too often.

Every year people are left out. I was wondering where was Topol but perhaps they rehearsed this and only could include so many people. That doesn't explain Leslie Jordan, Paul Sorvino and several others.

Yeah, Leslie Jordan and Paul Sorvino were the two big omissions for me, but also Anne Heche, Tom Sizemore, Melinda Dillon, Fred Ward, and Charlbi Dean who starred in Triangle of Sadness, which was one of the Best Picture nominees. Why on earth would they not include her, considering she was in one of the nominated films this year? Giving viewers a QR code to scan to see a complete list was not enough. How much time did they waste with that commercial for The Little Mermaid in the middle of the ceremony? They could have added so many people to the In Memoriam without that nonsense.
ETA: I forgot about Cindy Williams. She's mostly known for her TV work, but she also had quite a few movies on her resume, including American Graffiti, a classic.

I understand that they can't put everyone in but like you said, drop that Little Mermaid commercial and expand the segment.
