He made a connection with Faith and Theresa. I'm impressed so far

I'm pretty sure Patti told him that her son Matt was the bachelor. She's not getting much air time, though. I wonder why?

Matt's mom didn't make it past the first rose ceremony?
Well then. These are pretty active dates coming up...

Oh, I feel bad for all the ladies. Poor Gerry looks more upset than they are.
Well, I though that was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode and it just flew by.
Can't wait for the rest of the season!!

The tears were so sweet! He and some of the ladies teared up at the end! Aww.
I loved the Aunt Chippy parts!

I do wonder how many people in this age range would be willing to relocate and move their whole lives for someone. Presumably, at least some of these women have family, including grandchildren, near where they live, not to mention a friendship group and activities. Even if Gerry finds someone he wants to be with, I wonder if it will end up working out because of the logistics. That's assuming the woman he chooses doesn't live in the same city he does, of course.

Gerry looks really good for 72. I'm guessing he dyes his hair. Aw, how sad about his wife of 43 years. He might dye his hair, but I’m his age, and while there’s plenty of gray mixed in, my hair is still mostly dark brown. It’s unusual at this age, but it happens.

I hear ya MissGriss because I am in the same boat. I'm in my 60s with very, very little gray. Just a bit at the sideburn areas. Over the years I have dyed my hair from time to time, just to shake things up. My husband IS Gerry's age and is totally gray. His entire family grays very, very young.

I have a dear friend who's in her mid-80s and she still has quite a bit of dark brown mixed in with the white. Never dyed her hair once. Some people are just lucky.
It's clear the majority of these ladies are very active and fit and definitely don't look their age! Some of those entrances were a bit cringe-y, but I'm going to blame the producers for that. I will say that some of these ladies would benefit from a support garment. I'm all for loving your body, but a little lift is always helpful.
I really only saw a few who looked like they'd had surgical intervention or injectibles. Maybe more of them have had work done, but it's good work. They don't look like they're trying to look 30. I will say that I think Susan's teeth probably glow in the dark
I seriously love how all the woman are so sweet and complimentary of each other.
IMO, they should make Matt's mom Patty the first Golden Bachelorette. She's hot!

It's really strange to see who grays when and how. My sister, who is three years older than I am, has had white hair for years, and my sister who is five years younger is well on her way to totally white. My youngest brother will probably go white, too, but maybe not as soon. My mom, who died at almost 80 never went totally gray. Bringing things back around to the actual show LOL, I can't watch till tomorrow, but I'm really looking forward to it based on what's been said. should be fun to see people my age acting like living, breathing, sexual beings on TV.

I'm having streaks of grey put in to match my roots, the rest is still blonde. I can go much longer between visits to my hairdresser

You know what I really enjoyed about this show? Watching people have whole conversations without using the word "like" in every sentence. It was delightful.

I have never watched any of these shows but I watched last night. I really enjoyed it. Like many here, I teared up when he was talking about his wife. I liked many of the women, but there were a couple I did not like at all.
I'm in for the long haul. I really liked Gerry.

I loved it! I like that it was only an hour as well, just move along, no need to dwell on crazies like in the regular seasons. I'm liking Faith, not too sure about Teresa.

I got sidetracked when they said he got married in 1972 and was married for 43 years when his wife died. That would mean she died in 2015, but they're saying she died in 2017. Not that I think there's anything sinister going on, but it doesn't add up and I wonder why. I'm sure he knows when he got married and for how long and what year she died.
Anyway, I enjoyed the show and appreciated how kind and sensitive he is to the women.

Just finished watching, and I sure enjoyed it. Still teary from that dedication to the friend Roberta at the end. It’s sad that she didn’t make it, but as a major Bachelor fan, I’m sure she would have loved having a season dedicated to her.

I wish Aunt Chippy could stay as a housemother. She's a hoot; but I am surprised they didn't show her sneaking out for a smoke. Anyway, she was out side the upper age limit, but she sure is fun.

I completely forgot that the Golden Bachelor began last week and watched it this morning. It's old-school formatted episodes, and I appreciated that. Although we didn't see much of the first night, there were no real surprises of those not receiving a rose. I'm sad to learn the episode was dedicated to Ellen's best friend, Roberta, who passed away from cancer.
It's a little different, a little shower, and although I no longer watch all seasons, I'm happy to watch this one.

So far I'm enjoying this show.
