I use to like Sandy. And I was willing to give her another shot if she was forgiving and humble at the reunion but she was pompous and rude. And ALL about Joao. I couldn't believe that she gave the two "awards" to Brooke and Kasey. Like really? You can't even give Adam most improved? *insert MAJOR eye roll here* Hats off to Hannah for actually being the humble one!  |

I think that Sandy has an over the top empathy for the underdog. It's a nice quality to have, but gets in the way of being an effective leader on a yacht. I will say Sandy was different this season than last season. She was allot more ROUGH. Dropping the f bombs on both the show AND at the reunion.  I liked the reunion but whyyyyyy spend so much time on Brook and Kasey and Jaoa???? blah. Colin and Adam and Jamie barely spoke. Looking forward to the NEW season with Capt Lee!!!!! OCTOBER 2nd!!! |

This looks like such a great season. I think after Sandy I’m developing a crush on Capt Lee. And Kate’s snark is as good as ever .. she’s one of the rare Bravo people who knows what audiences look for from her and she delivers without seeming like she’s fake about it. But the Ross and Chandler thing ... hilarious surprise!

Loved the first episode. I always forget just how witty Kate is. ‘Young and malnourished!’ LOL Which by the way, I’m digging the chef.
This charter guest is too much though. I vaguely remember him from last time.

This looks like such a great season. I think after Sandy I’m developing a crush on Capt Lee. And Kate’s snark is as good as ever .. she’s one of the rare Bravo people who knows what audiences look for from her and she delivers without seeming like she’s fake about it. But the Ross and Chandler thing ... hilarious surprise! I adore Captain Lee and Kate. They are professional ...but are still funny and are able to laugh at themselves. I enjoyed the first episode a lot. I love the new chef! He seems extremely talented and without drama...so far Btw everyone....I changed the name of the thread to just "Below Deck" (took off the Mediterranean) I THOUGHT when we moved to this new board that I made two threads for Below Deck...but apparently I did not. If you all think this is ok...great. If not...we can make a separate one.  Whatever works for you!  |

It looks like there's going to be a lot of drama coming up from the preview with some of the crew such as Rhylee and Caroline. Caroline's expressions remind me of a cartoon character. Ashton kinda reminds me of Brace from the show Gigolos.

YIKES, those PREVIEWS were scary.....someone gets hurt it (I think) esp after Capt Lee (while being interviewed) says " give me a minute" and then walks off. I wonder what happened??? Also appears like someone is getting fired. I love ADRIAN the ' teenage malnourished' chef !!! That guest was soooooo drunk and out of freaking control and HE is a good friend of Capt Lee's??? Ugh. Seemed like a complete MORON to me. That nonsense on the jet ski with no vest and YES, I do agree with Capt Lee, that was on the Crew. |

I think that the guest on the jet ski was a situation similar to Capt Sandy getting mad at Hannah for going out with the guests where it was assumption and miscommunication which falls on both sides. Capt Lee had said before he guests arrived there should not be any toys in the water if the guests were drinking heavily, and the crew did notify Capt Lee that he wanted a jet ski before he went out. Capt Lee's response showed his concern was hitting coral, not how much he drank or his overall safety. With the benefit of hindsight, the crew could have told Capt Lee there were concerns over his sobriety. With the benefit of hindsight, Capt Lee never bothered to ask about his sobriety nor to state he had to wear a life vest. I don't think Capt Lee can put it entirely on the crew since he was notified and didn't ask any questions. But I do think the crew holds some responsibility.

The yacht is beautiful...but I can't imagine working in that kitchen especially for the amount of food he has to put out. The cupboards over the working counter would drive me nuts. Adrian is so level headed and so far seems like the best chef we've seen. I like him a lot. Steve and the foam party in the hot tub He's a handful but at least he's happy about it And all those shirts Chandler is a jerk. And Ashton is an idiot.I didn't like that Chandler wants to punish his whole crew for one person wanting to stay later at a club? Just leave him there! I love Kate and Josiah together |

I could see some instances where it would make sense to punish the whole crew for one person, but this wasn't one of them. The rest of the crew kept trying to get Ashton to leave the club - they were trying to make it better. So a 6am call didn't teach them to do things different the next time ... it taught them that their boss would abuse power if he was in a bad mood.
Since I railed against it with Capt Sandy, I have to say I loved the way that Capt Lee respected the order of command by complimenting Kate on the outstanding work of the inside crew in the tip meeting. And speaking of the tip meeting, I was surprised that a guy as obsessed with image as the charter guest wasn't obsessed enough with that to leave a bigger tip!

So far I really like Ross, I liked how he was treating the female deck hand. Ashton is a ding dong. That is not how you lead.
Captain Lee is respectful to the members of the crew and doesn't play to the cameras like C. Sandy did. Plus, he wasn't sitting with his friends complaining about toast.

I forgot to add one other thing that Capt Lee does so much better than Sandy. When he had an issue with the way the deck crew handled the jet ski with the primary charter guest, he talked about it privately with Chandler. He didn't make a huge case out of it - just laid out his expectations. More importantly, he did it in a way that the rest of the crew didn't know about it unless Chandler chose to tell them. It wasn't about grandstanding - it was about doing a better job.

Exactly, he didn't yell and didn't give compliments to Ross to undermine Chandler.
I would work so hard if he were my boss just so that he would be proud of me. I'd be crushed if I disappointed him.

I'm really conflicted by Rhylee. I don't LIKE her but the way Chandler and the other deck hands treat her really make me want to scream. I am not ok with the way they talk down to her...at all. "I understand she's a strong minded woman and that's great but..." No But. That's great. Period.

I can see where you’re coming from. I didn’t like the way Chandler had the team meeting to pile on her, but given how unreceptive to criticism she is, he may not have thought he had a choice. I wish they’d all figure out that with someone like her they will not het the last word and that’s okay. Instead of saying “got it” she feels obliged to explain to you why she did something wrong. That’s not worth debating!

I wonder if Chandler thought hearing it from some of the guys she still respected would have gotten through to her. I normally hate it when men talk down to women, but she seems so exhausting already. I get that she's a boat captain back home, but a small fishing boat in Alaska is a WHOLE different ball game than a luxury yacht in Tahiti. She needs to put aside that past experience and really soak up what they're trying to teach her. I hate people like her-you're trying to teach them something new and they interrupt you every five seconds to ask unrelated questions, or add their opinion or something else. Give them the time to fully run through whatever they're trying to show you, then if you have questions you can ask. She says she learns quickly and has to be shown things only once, but I haven't seen her shut her mouth long enough to fully finish teaching her anything. I'd probably be like the guys too, brushing her off and doing things myself if I could never finish a sentence.
That being said, at least Ross and Ashton are trying to teach her. I think it's unacceptable for Chandler to give her the silent treatment. She's annoying of course, but you still have to deal with her for the time being. And don't punish everyone for one person's mistake.
I love these guests. They seem so chill and go with the flow, and are willing to try new things even if they are unsure. Plus they seem to understand that there are things like a storm that the crew has no control over. Can anyone remember if they were good tippers?

I love everything about how Capt Lee is handling things with the deck crew. I love that when he heard the initial complaint, he just listened - he didn't dismiss the complaint but he also didn't validate it until he had more information. I like that he then talked to his Bosun rather than gossiping with the whole crew. I like that he guided him, but didn't try to tell him exactly how to handle it until he was asked for advice. And I love that his focus is on fixing the problems instead of choosing good guys and bad guys.

Wouldn't it be crazy if something crazy happened and the chef was the one in the season trailer that Kate is speaking to through the door saying the person has 5 minutes to pack and leave? I do'nt think it will happen ... just saying it would be crazy
