As an avid House Hunters junkie I have a few pet peeves: 1. What is the big deal about double sinks in the bathroom? Nobody has to brush their teeth side by side. If I hear that not having double sinks is a dealbreaker again, I will scream. 2. Those looking for a vintage house but then complain about lack of 'open concept' (another pet peeve) or lack of closet space! Old house were not built like that and if thats what you want you don't want vintage. 3. People who tour a newly remodeled house and still want to rip out the kitchen because its not their taste! Such a waste. Just walk away and find a fixer or a kitchen you do like. The term 'total gut job' ARGHHHHHH 4. And the 'ugly Americans' on HHI that complain about room size and other such horrors when looking for a home overseas. Maybe you should stay stateside. I am sure there are more but thats it for now. Still love the show but not always the buyers. Agree with your whole post. The buyers drive me nuts. They have a set budget but want a house that would cost more than they can afford.

It's true. It seems like the buyers/renters almost always have champagne taste on a beer budget. And of course they blame the real estate broker for the problem, not themselves.

Flip or Flop VegasThere were two episodes of Flip or Flop Vegas tonight and I think Aubrey's decorating style is rubbing off on me as I liked both flips. They did a house in a golf course community and it was a black and white farmhouse theme and I admit it looked good. I also liked the downtown artist condo they did. That condo was very small and if it was mine I would not use a dining table in it but the finishes was good and I would keep the barn doors to the bedroom open just to show off that mural. Over all a good finish to the season. Good Bones, Hidden Potential, Boise Boys, and House Hunters Renovation will keep me busy and far, far, away from Tarek and Squeaky Voice. I have to agree - I liked both of the Vegas houses, probably because she kept to a black/white/wood theme and stayed away from stupid hot pink, purple, excessive mirror tile, etc. The farmhouse sorta reminded me of Joanna's style from Fixer Upper a bit. Very nice. And the condo was adorable, neutral with bright pops of color in the staging. The mural was pretty cool. And yes, that dining table was in the way and unnecessary. I'll watch the return of Tarek and Christina next week, even though I don't care for him. I hope it's not all drama and stupidity, I want to see houses redone and not arguing between exes. Now to catch up on Good Bones and Boise Boys...

Boise Boys: I really liked the fact that they picked the farmhouse this time around, since they have already worked on a MCM home. Clint having his son help with the demo on the house was nice, and Luke with his girls at the macrame workshop was adorable. I'm glad they went with a steel roof and new wooden columns on the outside because it really made the outside of the house look 20x better. My favorite spot was the useless space that they converted into a reading nook; it looked so cosy and a great place to relax! Loved the macrame on the walls and the general southwestern vibe they used in staging the house. I was glad that their friend bought it, and they even let it go for 10k cheaper so she could have it.
Next week is the season finale. I miss them already.

Brother vs Brother: It surprised me that they are in the SF area at all, considering the price of real estate out there and how quickly it moves. It didn't surprise me that they had to purchase their houses unseen, but poor Jonathan got the booby prize house. Drew has really grown as a designer; even though aesthetics-wise my style is closer to what Jonathan created Drew's home was so warm and welcoming and beautifully done it didn't surprise me that his living room won. It also didn't surprise me that left to their own devices, they make things far superior than the blandness that Property Brothers has become over the last few seasons. I'm looking forward to what they do next week.

Drew had the better room this week but Johnathan is usually more my style I din't know the area at all but both houses need some real work, they are both a hot mess. I too am looking forward to the renovations and what comes next.

I'm sad to think that next week is the last week for Boise Boys this season. I'm sad too. Luke said on their instagram that whether or not they get renewed depends on viewership. They shot the pilot last fall and got 1.5 million viewers, so HGTV decided to take a chance and gave them a six episode season to test the waters. I hope enough people watched. All I know is I'm going to be pretty pissed if they don't get a renewal when that horrid Restored by the Fords did.

Hidden PotentialThe steel beams at first surprised me when they went up because it did not look good and it is very hard to bring the industrial loft look into a suburban home, but Jasmine did it. Liked the staircase and how opening it up makes a huge difference in the interior of the home. The outside at first I was not sure really needed updating but I can see the difference now. The walkway and the new door were definitely an improvement. The huge sliding door in the living room is a highlight but those folding doors are expensive in the $20,000 range. Just watched tonight!!! I loved everything esp the front yard/door .... the red door really popped!!! I thought the stairs were awesome as well!!! Only thing I did not like AT ALL was the SWING!!! Nope .... ugh. Jasmine Roth and her SIL Heather are very popular in Southern California!!!

Good Bones - Barn Guest House
Wow, Karen built this fabulous garage and guest house at the back end of her property. She did lose a bit of her garden though. Get to meet her oldest son, wife and kids, and meet Roger, Karen's husband.
Luv that Karen got to reuse some of her Karen's Corner finds. It is amazing all the local artisans Karen and Mina know and to see how they repurpose barn wood, etc ...
I like how Karen was thinking of her husband and what he likes to do and his friends when she designed the garage as well as what she likes to do. The guest house was cute and it was nice to have a loft space that the kids will use when they get older but for now that would be a bit dangerous for them. It would make a fabulous rental property also.

Hidden Potential - corner lot
I liked the hidden lounge but I might have insisted they open that area up or use it as an office.
Liked the kitchen, I am always iffy about the open shelf concept, depends on your lifestyle I guess.
Flag pole, I would rather not spend the money on one.
Hated the paint treatment on the garage door, on tv it looked cheap.
While I liked the new house color I was not impressed with the pea gravel seating area .... does not look that inviting to me just a low maintenance lawn area. It needed a deck with a pergola IMHO.

Loved Karen's new guest house on Good Bones - but wow, there's a lot going on in that yard! It looked very Karen, though. I really liked that piano key clock she made, and the old metal grates used for the railings. And I'd kill to have a garage that nice, mine is a disaster area right now. I caught Hidden Potential for the first time, but I wasn't really feeling what she did with that house. The garage door looked like crap, and the seating area in front looked messy. Was there no back yard to hang out in? The exterior colors were nice, anyway.

Loved the guest house on Good Bones. Nice to meet Karen's older son, his wife, and 2 grandkids. I tuned in late so I missed seeing her husband. I love all her salvaged finds and I agree that the piano key clock was a great statement piece; she is so creative. I really loved the entire project but yikes $180,000 was quite a chunk of change, especially considering the land was free. Do you really think she needs the money to use it as a rental property? Too close for comfort, imo.

I loved the Barn style guest house/garage, but I wouldn't much like to have to climb a ladder to get to the loft.
Thanks for the heads up on Brother vs Brother being back on! And in my hometown! Can't wait to watch it OnDemand!

I liked Jonathon's design the best tonight on Brother vs Brother. Drew's wasn't cohesive to me.
Boise Boys was different since they had to tear down the house and build a new one. I am not much for modern design but they did a great job on this one. Was glad Luke bought it. Clint and Luke are polar opposites but yet make it work.

As an avid House Hunters junkie I have a few pet peeves: 1. What is the big deal about double sinks in the bathroom? Nobody has to brush their teeth side by side. HH is my favorite HGTV show. In fact, other than HHI, I've stopped watching the others for the most part. Yes, the double sinks obsession gets to me, too, as does the complaining about things that are easily changeable such as paint colors and light fixtures, and the frequent dilemma of each half of the couple wanting a totally different style of home ... lucky, lucky realtor! I also get miffed when people have a budget of $1.5 million for a home (and still are unhappy over minor details). I'm definitely jealous and don't even want to watch those episodes because I'll never be in that position.

I read a few years ago that some of the houses the person/couple is shown aren't even for sale ... they just fit the description of what the people are looking for. Also read that sometimes the "buyers" have already decided on a house before they're shown the other choices. Sounds pretty phony, but still I enjoy seeing the houses and what people want and don't want, as well as how much house you can get for the money in different areas.

From what I recall reading, the "buyers" almost always have decided on a house and likely even already have it under contract. The other houses are just for show and drama. The whole thing is pretty fake, but I agree that it's fun seeing the houses.

Brother vs Brother: Kitchen and dining room was the order of the day. Jonathan definitely got the booby prize house as he had issues with the foundation as well as the sewer line, and repairing those things put him well over budget. In contrast, it was smooth sailing for Drew; even the electric panel issue was resolved without him paying extra money. In keeping with his eco-friendly theme, Jonathan decided to have bamboo and black cabinets in his kitchen, and a display wall of bark for his bar/dining room. At first I was skeptical of how this would look, but in the end it was wonderful. The cabinets were a matte black which looked really rich with the bamboo backsplash, and the bark wall really added texture. He was also very careful with his staging. Drew went with a more traditional kitchen with the addition of a homework station, but I have to admit that his design this week wasn't that cohesive.
The Fords (oh no) were the judges this week, and they correctly guessed who did what kitchen. The winner was Jonathan, who got a trip to the Lucasfilm Museum. Poor Drew got to scrub the Yoda fountain with a toothbrush. Bedrooms are next week!

Boise Boys: They definitely saved the best for last!
They had to choose between an old farmhouse that was inland, and another house that was by the river and 10 minutes from downtown. Both homes were on a decent amount of land. The farmhouse had weirdly laid out bathrooms and 2 bedrooms that were in the basement-accessible by a trap door. The river house was a Good Bones style nasty house full of garbage that was roughly 1700 feet and had 3 bedrooms. They decide to join in on the auction of the river house and win...only to find out that the entire foundation of the house is no good, and they have to tear the whole thing down.
Luke and Clint decide to build a 3000 square foot modern home on the lot that was 2 floors and very beautiful. Luke found these huge wooden lights at a thrift store that were originally in a cathedral, and he decided to paint the outside black and keep the inside the natural wood. They looked very beautiful in the 2 story foyer. They also added a concrete floating staircase to the second floor, and a fireplace big enough for a small child to stand in. I wasn't a fan of the neon sign in the bedroom, but it looked nice, and there was a lot of natural light everywhere. When they start to show the house Luke starts to cry, then confesses to Clint that he has fallen in love with the house and wants it for himself. Turns out that Luke, his wife, and their 6 kids have been living in a 1400sq foot house all this time. Yikes!
After Clint talks with his wife, they decide to let poor Luke have the house at cost. One scene that was really cute had Clint talking about making the staircase accessible for one of Luke's children-then the camera pans over to his son halfway up the stairs using his upper body and belly. They are such nice people, I'm glad Luke got the house. This is an episode not to miss.

That was a beautiful home. How wonderful that Luke and his wife got to buy it.
That was super generous of Clint to let them have it at cost. I forget how much profit they were looking to make, but that was at least a $50,000 gift. Maybe more. Weren't they looking to sell it for almost a million dollars, and Luke got it for $750. Clint must really love Luke and his family.

Boise Boys - I'm not big on modern design either, but wow, that was nicely done. That is how you do black showers and kitchens without making it look like a cave. I loved the cedar backsplash, the huge fireplace (I wonder why the city said no to a masonry fireplace?), and that garage door with the little windows all on one side - I want that on my house. I can't imagine all those people in a 1400 sq. ft. house, at least now Luke and family have room to breathe! HGTV better renew this show, it's too good not to. Flip or Flop - the return of Tarek and Christina. I see he's still a douche. The house turned out nicely, I really liked the slanted tile thing Christina came up with on the fireplace. I would have preferred the porch posts and railings to be natural wood, but maybe that farmhouse look doesn't go over so well in Cali? Either way, they made a nice profit. I hope they tone down the personal drama in the future, I don't want to see all that. And seriously, the pet store rats were obviously placed there. Stop that.

I think Clint has the biggest heart in the world. The first thing I thought when the house went to Luke's family was how was the boy in the wheelchair going to get up to the bedrooms? Clint to the rescue. Ahhh. The kids are homeschooled so now there is more room for that as well.
