Just finished watching this weird flipping show with a husband and wife where the wife was serving up entirely too much drama, lol. At one point, they started arguing like the camera wasn't there. They rehabbed this sweet older home, but the husband looked scared to tell his wife they went 20k over on the rehab. She was like, let's sell at 15k over what we originally thought! It sold, and they made 85k off the deal so I fail to see what all the drama was about. Kao, the show is called " Music City Fix" hosted by Dave and Kortney Wilson. I knew I recognized them from a previous HGTV show which was titled "Masters of Flip."

Yes! That was it! They are a mess. I guess HGTV wanted to try them in something different?

I really liked Masters of Flip why did they change their 1 hour format to half an hour and change the name of the show?
Maybe they were to high end in comparison to the Flip or Flop shows?

I liked Masters of Flip, too, Bearcata. Perhaps they changed the name of the show as a homage to their musical roots? I found out they both are musicians, and both are from Canada. They both arrived separately to Nashville to pursue musical careers. Kortney came straight from Canada but Dave had lived and worked as a musician in London prior. They met in Nashville. They have 3 kids, and the youngest is adopted. Lots of interesting info about them in this article:

Flip or Flop. Always with the fake drama, and there's almost never a "flop." I did think the house looked really nice, I don't know that I've ever seen them do a little Craftsman style like that. The sage green/gray color was pretty, as were the textured subway tiles...and I'm glad they left that orange tree in the back alone, I was yelling at the TV for them not to cut it down. I agree with you about the house. It turned out great. I loved it. Very charming.
I think Christina (and Tarek, to a degree) have excellent taste in color choices and color combinations especially with tiles, flooring, backsplash materials etc. She did an excellent job this time around. (Tarek allowed her to go more high end than usual and that could be the reason why. You generally get what you pay for.)
Glad they didn't argue. They do work well together as flippers. I hope the show continues.

I missed the first Flip or Flop with Tarek and squeaky voice and the rats but the second one was very drama free even by the standards of show before the divorce.
BTW I have no sympathy for this couple and HATE how HGTV is using their divorce fame as the intro to the show ... it is so lame.

That would be fun to see their pilot. Let us know if you manage to find it. I think it was filmed under a different working title that may have been mentioned in one of the articles up thread. If you can find it, you might try searching on that. EDITED TO ADD: I searched on Timber and Love (which is their company) and pilot and found this web page. It seems to indicate that the pilot was a mid-century modern house--the one that they had to wrap in a big bubble in order to paint it. The name of the show "An Odd Couple of Homes" is the name of the first episode of Season 1, so it sounds like the pilot is actually the first show of this season, and there isn't another pilot out there. You're welcome. I wish what I found had been another episode, though. I'm in withdrawal, too.

BOISE BOYS | S01 PILOT | MID-CENTURY MODERNThis aired last summer. Did it air again as the first episode of the full season? In Amazon, it shows up as S1 Episode 1. It's the house that has the forest green chevron pattern in the guest bathroom and the wall of the master, and I'm pretty sure I remember people talking about that when it aired. Here's a picture of the wall of the master bedroom. Kao if that doesn't look familiar, you can find the episode for sale on Amazon video. If I recall, it costs $2.99 HD and $1.99 SD. I've found the SD version to be adequate, but I don't have a huge screen. Or if you have the season on demand, it's just free.

YES, Bearcata, we did decide to watch the second epi and they did rein it in BIG TIME. That first epi was ridiculous. But this one was about getting the flip done and sold.

Is that the episode where it's snowing and they have to cover the entire house to paint it? Because I went to my usual tv episode viewing site to watch, and they have the first episode as the MCM house with the clinker brick outside that they removed a portion of and installed cedar paneling.

Yes. It's the mid-century modern home that they had to cover with plastic and use heaters to warm things up in order to paint it. It's the one where the woman who used to live there came by and then came back with her brother for the tour.

Good Bones: This was a little house that truly lives up to the show's name. Beautiful high ceilings, lovely carved bannister, and the moulding around those huge windows! It was worth the 120,000 price tag. I wonder why they didn't restore the bannister? It was lovely, and what they replaced it with was blah.
I'm wondering where all the snakes came from, especially since one doesn't normally think of Indiana in regards to them, and they found two! I really liked the fact that they repurposed parts of the old flooring for countertops, and the old piano into a bar. Loved the woodwork in the wineroom. The kitchen looked wonderful as well, with colored uppers and lower cabinets again. (happy sigh) While all the bedrooms were big, that master was huge, and the en suite was great. Even though they didn't sell the house by airtime they've had a lot of interest in it, and I'm sure it will sell.

Someone must have been breeding those snakes and they got out? Not something I'd want to keep coming across when tearing stuff apart. I didn't think I'd like the white/black trim outside, but it was beautiful. That piano was trying to kill someone! It was a neat addition to the house as a little bar. Who was the guy they partnered with, a contractor? And yes, that kitchen was lovely!

Yeah. They said on the show that they thought the previous owners' snakes had babies and they just took the grown ones and left the babies.
I think the guy they partnered with had been the main builder on some of their other shows, but I'm not positive of that.

Luke Caldwell from Boise Boys posted a picture of he and his wife in NYC today. They are celebrating their 18th wedding anniversary--and she's pregnant! So this will be their 7th child. That's a lot of kids, but I'm happy for them.

I hope her pregnancy goes smoothly. How wonderful that they are in that nice big home! P.S. This is my 100th post, so I get to be a Full Member now. I'm so excited!

Wow, seven kids. At least they've got that nice new house to spread out in! Stupid Tarek on Flip or Flop...I just don't like him any more. Griping at her because she was leaving town on a planned trip but he insisted she drop everything to look at a house? Pff. (Assuming this wasn't all scripted, too ) I was glad to see Izzy back, I wish they'd give HIM his own show.

I missed that part as I started watching a couple of minutes after the show started but as a divorced couple who are still in business together which means they have to be looking at houses together and making decisions together as it directly impacts the business and their income and their employees I get one being miffed at the other as they did not communicate their schedules. That was the entire point of the miff. It seemed both were in agreement about coordinating their schedules by the end of the episode.

I really liked Masters of Flip why did they change their 1 hour format to half an hour and change the name of the show? Maybe they were to high end in comparison to the Flip or Flop shows? Watched the second of the Music City Fix episodes. It is a shame this show is 30 minutes. The houses they normally flip are huge, this was 4900+ sq ft and had been split into 3 rental units so they had a lot of work to do and gave themselves 95 days. Courtney comes across a bit abrasive in these short episodes. I miss Masters of Flip as they took time into going over the details of the kitchens and baths and the styling of the house for sale. This was a huge kitchen and we barely saw it. Get baths did we see any? A thirty minute format is fine for a 900 sq ft to 1500 sq ft home that the Flip and Floppers do but with so much construction to do this show is doing a disservice to the couple and the house.

Good Bones: New flip in a new neighborhood. It was scary how they had to put in temporary supports in the basement to keep the first floor from caving in. Loved the penny tile in the kitchen. The dots on the staircase were an interesting idea, but it didn't look right and I was glad they painted over them. While I liked the living room and kitchen, I wasn't a fan of the staging upstairs; too frilly. Even though they didn't make a lot of money, I was glad they were able to sell the house. I think they do it more for the thrill of making something torn up look beautiful again than the money anyway.

Brother vs Brother: The theme was guest rooms and other areas, and while Drew's rooms were nice, I especially loved Jonathan's. I really liked the green, teardrop tiles in Drew's en suite, and the bedroom was good for all ages. However, the three slanting windows in Johnathan's bedroom was a showstopper, and I really liked his office. Mina and Karen were the judges this time, and while they really liked Jonathan's rooms they picked Drew's. The prize was to name a baby kangaroo at the zoo. I was glad that Drew went with a Aboriginal name that meant desert, from their first BvB show in Las Vegas. Jonathan had to clean up all the giraffe poop and pee from the enclosure.
Next week they finish the exteriors, and the houses go on the market.

I'm beginning to notice that most of their designs/homes look very much alike, when completed. I understand that a designer's personal taste does come into play, probably without even being aware, but not only are the finishes alike but the layouts are too. Am I crazy?
