Good Bones Season 7 Episode 2 - "Near Eastside Americana Cottage" - July 19, 2022 I watch this show because I enjoy Karen and Mina, I don't watch it to see a toilet full of poop dominate the entire demo portion to the point it seems to dominate the episode. I watch these shows to see the reveal of the entire home not just some rooms. I hope the rest of the season does not go this way. I couldn't agree more. Way too much horseplay this episode with the toilet and throwing tools at the side of the house, etc. I want to see renovations and design ideas, not guys doing stupid stuff. The house turned out beautifully, I love that style of home with the big wraparound porch. Looking forward to the spinoff series...

The house turned out beautifully, I love that style of home with the big wraparound porch. Looking forward to the spinoff series... They are really losing much of the design portion of the show as well as the reveal portion, and adding more story telling. I like the early season where the viewers were shown the entire house and the backyard. Several years ago they quit showing the backyards. I miss that. I don't mind the horse play between the cast as it introduced us to to all the players, I just don't want this show to devolve to poopy toilets and camera shots loving filming the product. Yes, the houses are trashed but really that was too much. I did like the shot of Mina defending herself and then later Karen so proud that she had such a fearless and feisty daughter. The spin off does look to be good I just hope it is better than that boring mess they did on Fixer to Fabulous where that couple wanted to create a Bed and Breakfast and had done none of the business research of how to run a B and B before purchasing the property. At least Mina is more profit minded. Two Chicks and a Hammer already had a small house on AirBnB, has rental properties, and have created a commercial space in District Co, and sells merch online. Two Chicks and a Hammer is big enough and with Karen retired hired a new Chief of Staff who we met in this episode.

Bargain Block - the "Moroccan" house was okay, I hated the peach and gold in the living room though. Same with the pink cabinets and stripes on the wall in the "Circus" house - nope. I don't remember which house they painted all dark gray on the exterior, but it was too dark. A different trim color would have been nice... And why don't they use a sprayer for the cabinets, I know they have one. Using cheapo brushes leaves marks. Again, there was sloppy work - paint on floors, missing caulk, missing switch covers. I guess I didn't love this week's episode.

And why don't they use a sprayer for the cabinets, I know they have one. Using cheapo brushes leaves marks. Again, there was sloppy work - paint on floors, missing caulk, missing switch covers. I guess I didn't love this week's episode. This week's episodes were the Moroccan House and the French Circus one. The Moroccan House was the all brick two story bungalow with the colonial façade over the front door. It did have a detached brick two car garage. This house had such a formal tradition outside and I hated the unpainted rustic shutters they put on. Totally did not fit the look and feel of the home. I know filming schedules can be very tight and it looks as if they haven't really finished the home yet staged it and filmed it. There was so much wrong. The look of the kitchen was all over the place. There was NO VENT HOOD over the oven. In the bathroom, while the tile looked nice as did the vanity, there was no caulk between the bathtub and the floor. Where the vanity mirror was hung on the wall it was obvious where the old light fixture and mirror had hung as you could see the impression of the light's base on the wall, what looked like screws or nails, and other building material. It's as if half the walls in the house were not cleaned, caulked, sanded, or painted. There was a missing stair rail, as the brackets were on the wall and messily painted around and over. It is like they emptied all the trash out of the house but didn't bother dusting anything, or cleaning the walls or anything just slapped some paint up. There were a lot of sloppy painting to the original house and all they did was paint over it. Half of the furnishings looked unclean as if Keith had just plucked them from the trash and just hung them up in the next house with out shaking them, vacuuming them, or running a steamer over it. The bed sheets looked wrinkled. It felt yucky. HATED the peach and gold walls. Keith has some really weird colors palettes. I totally enjoyed this show last year but half the homes are cringeworthy this season. The circus house that they painted black looked as if it needed another coat of paint on the outside. The roof looks reddish and it does not contrast or complement the black house color well. Whoever are the show runners they are killing this series. The house looked way better, cleaner, neater, more finished. It was in better condition to begin with. There were half finished projects here also, like missing electrical plates. The pink kitchen cabinets. I simply do not believe all the boys did was paint the cabinets without removing doors. Everything I have read is step one. Clean the cabinets with a degreaser to get all the kitchen cooking grease off the cabinets, sand the cabinets, prime the cabinets, paint the cabinets preferably without the cabinet doors on. When my siblings house was prepped for sale that is exactly what they did, they used a sprayer and it took several days to finish, because you needed the drying time between coats. You can't get that beautiful smooth finish with a paint brush. Overall that kitchen did look nice with the pale pink cabinets and the grey tile backsplash.

Good Bones - I really hate that they lost money on that house, it was beautiful. The market's been so crazy, I figured they'd do well even with the budget overages. Loved the big custom island and those dark marble picket-style tiles for the backsplash, very striking. The teardrop fireplace was a nice addition too, even though Mina fought it.

Good Bones Season 7 Episode 3 - "Budget-Busting Basic Bombshell” - July 27, 2022
I enjoyed this episode so much better than last weeks and all of the crew shenanigans during demo.
They showed much more of the issues with the house. Everyone was working together and you see Mina the business woman. Still don't get how they can get by with so little profit on these homes. Having money from appearing on Good Bones must be the only way they can survive.
Glad to see that their store District Co has customers.
Luv'ed what they did with the home although they initially said the house was 3700 square feet but at the reveal it was just over 2300 sq ft. so what happened?
That was a really nice kitchen and I like the custom island Iron Timbers made for the house.
So glad that MJ was able to find a fireplace to fit the home.
I was surprised that Mina was not able to sell the house for a profit in this crazy real estate market.
One of the reasons I really liked this episode was that they showed the outside and backyard areas of the home. We have not seen a deck shot since season 2 or 3.
Still did not see all the bedrooms or bathrooms.

Bargain Block - when he brought up doing a "goth" house I almost changed the channel, picturing a gloomy, all black mess. I still didn't love the dark green on the exterior, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I know they were trying to cover up a bunch of patchwork stuff. Kitchen was still a bit dark for me, and the red/black bordello staging wasn't my thing, but it wasn't hideous. I'd love to see how the Federal house turns out since they're staying with a traditional look...

Bargain Block Season 2 Episode 8 - Goth and Federal - July 27, 2022
Goth House So, so, so glad someone talked Keith out of doing an all black house. Instead it was all white walls and all black furniture with touches of red and gold.
Someone really needs to learn how to hang curtains on this show they always look awful. Open them up full and equally on both sides.
Curtain trick if you have a small window, extend the curtain rod a foot or so past the window and have the curtains hang there, it creates an illusion that the window is larger.
Hated that instead of using a single picture window for the front of the house they installed two smaller windows. I noticed they did the same on the side of the house with two smaller windows.
Liked the dark green they painted the body of the house. The yellow door was a nice touch.
Less sloppy work noticed. One electric light plate not caulked. Some extra holes in the wall from hanging the curtain rod in the wrong place.
Federal House Wow, nice big home. Glad to hear the boys are not planning to go crazy with the design.
I was under the impression that you needed profession cleaners to cleanup after a fire as the smoke smell and get into the drywall and you also will need a special kind of primer to get rid of the smell.
The Federal home is a "to be continued" in the next episode.
Their Own Home Dining Room Refresh Liked the dining room refresh from that dark moody green to the brighter beigey peach tone and using wood moldings to create panels on the walls. They also swapped out the chairs and some accessories. Looked way better and adult. At times I can tell adulting is hard for Keith.

Good Bones - I can't say I loved the red and black exterior (nor the creepy bridge across the street with all the graffiti), but I'm really glad they made a profit. The buyer seemed extremely happy to have gotten a house he liked, too.
I would have preferred a few upper cabinets in the kitchen over all shelves, but it wasn't terrible. Did they even show a bathroom?

Good Bones Season 7 Episode 4 - Big Red Urban Barn - August 2, 2022 I liked the red barn color of the home. While I did like this episode and it was nice to hear about the changes in the law to help development in the urban area, they still don't show all the house, I want to see the bathrooms and other bedrooms. I did like that they added a gravel driveway at the back of the lot where you could potentially park at least 3 cars. The old zoning laws stated that a house could only cover 40% of a lot and 60% had to be green space and that the setbacks were 5 feet. The new regulations to help with urban density now state that a house can be up to 80% of a lot, and the setbacks are now 3 feet, which means you are closer to your neighbors. The new regulations also mean that builders can put on additions especially on smaller houses that are on smaller lots. Not a fan of all the open shelving as I wouldn't like to dust all the shelves, glasses and dishes. Then there is the potential grease from all the cooking. Not a fan of a wood backsplash in a kitchen. It will end up swelling and warp. The following article has more pictures. I like the one sink and don't remember seeing it on the episode. www.indianapolismonthly.com/lifestyle/home/good-bones-recap-season-7-episode-4

Good Bones - Season 7 Episode 5 - From Burned Out to Boho Nordic - August 9, 2022
This house is right next door to the one Cory bought last year.
Can you have an inflatable hot tub?
This home was only 800 square feet, 2 bedrooms and one bath and is transformed into a 3 bedroom 3 full bathroom 1200 square foot home. The lot size is incredibly small, there is no basement just a crawlspace. From the overhead drone shots it looks as if one lot was subdivided and two homes built. No driveway. Cory doesn't have a driveway so I guess it is on the street parking.
Most of the home was shown, it is small. No peeks into the downstairs bedroom and bathroom and we do see both upstairs bedrooms but only the one bathroom.
The outside does have a privacy fence, concrete stairs on both sides and a small concrete pad on one side. I notice that they used the smaller AC units that require no duct work but have a wall mounted unit inside the one upstairs bedroom and I thought I saw a wall unit in the downstairs.
Karen planted a locust tree in the back yard claiming it was self cleaning. I had a honey locust in my backyard. Never had a problem with the leaves but it was messy tree regarding the branch growth. Very shrublike. INHO not the best choice for such a small yard in an urban setting.
They did a beautiful job putting dormers on both sides of the second floor. The team always does an excellent job with the siding and creating interesting pattern on the side of the home. The siding looked a creamy soft white with sharp white accent boards and black windows.
They had buyers and sold the home for $240,000 for a profit of $20,000. They bought it for $7000, renovation budget was originally $150,000 but with foundation and framing issues was $213,000 for a total of $220,000.
The looking for a new HQ was addressed with a scene of Mina showing off the commercial lot she bought down the street from the District Co building.
Shout out to Mina's workout routine, the woman has some great arms.

Bearcata they do make inflatable hot tubs! I was looking at a two-person tub to put on my back patio... Good Bones - loved this one when they were done. Light, airy and cozy looking, and the exterior was beautiful. It barely had any yard and no parking, but that's city living, I guess. A shame they didn't make more profit on it.

Bargain Block - the Federal house turned out nicely, except...that kitchen. It was so bland and boring! Those big tiles they used for the backsplash added nothing. They could have found something neutral AND pretty.
The garden house was cute also, but again, I hated the tile in the kitchen. Reddish tumbled marble? Bleah. The 90's called and wants its backsplash back.
I don't think they said if the houses sold...?

The 90's called and wants its backsplash back. I don't think they said if the houses sold...? Bargain Block Season 2 Episode 9 - Federal and Summer Garden - August 10, 2022 Summer Garden All Brick 1700 sq ft 4 Bedrooms 2 bath $89,000 Horrible stench coming from frig. No electricity, the food rotted and no one cleaned it up. Shea gets the house for $69,000. Liked the white walls and black trim and doors. My main issue with Keith is his color choices and staging and awful curtains. This time the walls were white, the trim black and the curtains were mostly simply sheers. It works. Keith tends to put too much furniture in the house. It is packed with everything, with multiple wood tones, furniture styles, tables, and sofas. STOP. Less is More. Also way too many patterns and no cohesive color palette. I don't like his carpet choices and they don't look like they have been cleaned just picked up off the curb on trash day. I feel the same about much of his furniture. It feels dirty and dusty and moldy. Take two thirds of the stuff out of the rooms would be a MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT in the staging. Did not like the pink square tiles used in the kitchen backsplash. Hated the feature wall in the den, made of wood slats. Much of the wood looked cheap and not smooth. The sizes of the slats was all over the place and it looked a mess. The boys can do much better, I have seen them do better. The bathroom they showed looked nice but the brushed nickel faucet, bright gold mirror, and black metal lighting and shower curtain were so not the right mix of metals. It just looked as if they used what they had left over from their warehouse. List: $175,000 Purchase price: $69,000 Reno budget: $70,000 Profit: $36,000 The house sold at full asking. Federal House Purchase: $225,000 Reno: $100,000 List: $400,000 Potential Profit: $75,000 Not known if sold by end of the episode. Outside, painted the door and trim and windows black. On the windows it looks very sloppy and poorly done. Inside they kept it simple white walls, black trim, with a grayscale landscape wallpaper mural on one wall of the dining room. The fireplace mantel was scraped clean of many layers of paint. It still looks like it needs some work. Kitchen was enlarged. The layout is awful, it looks awful, it looks terrible and what is that wooden thing in the middle, an island. Overall the kitchen is just sad. The new upstairs master bathroom was very nice. Classic white walls, wood floor, freestanding tub, double vanity, and huge walk-in shower. Did seem that there were too many doors and a lot of open space, maybe too much open space, maybe poor space planning? Does make you wonder why the kitchen looked so bad. Again my main issue is the color palette. What is with all the clay and brown tones. There is too much furniture and it all looks shabby and needs a good cleaning, and the awful dirty rugs. They manage to make the house look dingy.

Enjoying Renovation Island - the best part of the show is that Sarah's voice is not shrill at all. Shows the stress she was under doing the Bahama Island renovation.
I wonder if they are going to move the business to Florida from Canada?

Good Bones Season 7 Episode 6 - Major Mansion Makeover - August 16, 2022 The gang renovates a 9000 sq ft mansion for a basketball player. The budget is $300,000 Scope: Renovate the outside of the home, renovate the first floor, and the basement. I liked that the clients were knowledgable about the renovation process and what they wanted and the fact that in the husbands professional they don't stay in anyone city for long. This would be their first home, the others had been rentals. With the renovation they could see a $300,000 profit. Cory found dead mice. A lot of dead mice. And dead baby mice. They called an exterminator and had to find where they were coming into the house. I liked that the wife didn't like the fireplaces and wanted them gone, or at least the ones they the house had. Liked the overall refresh of the home. www.indianapolismonthly.com/lifestyle/home/good-bones-recap-s7e6Review of the show in the local indie newspaper. At the bottom of the article there are photos of the home, you can click on them to enlarge the photos and then click on the arrows to see them all.

Good Bones Season 7 Episode 7 - An Itty Bitty Beach Bungalow - August 23, 2022
I like how the team was able to enclose part of the porch add footage to the home and change the layout.
Cute starter home.
Liked that 2 Chicks Team didn't go the cheap materials and no design look that many flippers do.
Luv the Shaker siding.
Luv the countertops and continuous backsplash.
Always good tile choices.
For such a small house instead of keeping the old cracked sidewalks and walkways luv that the 2 Chicks Team put in a new concrete walkway, I think sidewalk, patio, backyard walkway, a concrete parking pad, and fenced off the backyard. Amazing.
Top it off with a bit of very simple yet effective landscaping.
Mina is really developing into an effective communicator. Bobcat also communicated very well this episode. You can really see the team effort with this group.

I'm wondering if HGTV didn't renew "Outgrown" because there hasn't been any news of one and the show has been over for a while. Also, while they used to post about HGTV a lot it seems like the guys are posting about their personal business endeavors and nothing about the show or the network on their socials.

Also, while they used to post about HGTV a lot it seems like the guys are posting about their personal business endeavors and nothing about the show or the network on their socials. Any new season we see was filmed at least 6 to 12 months ago. I picked up that on Home Town announcements and such and you can tell from when Erin got pregnant and had her babies. While I really like the Boise Boys and would like to see more of them, their show has been changed over twice now, does that indicate a problem?

I don't know. Last year when they were shooting Outgrown they talked about it on their socials and posted sneak preview pics, etc. They've been radio silent on the HGTV front for a long time now, which is extremely odd.
