Dear HGTV, why isn't First Home Fix a part of your regular evening lineup? I'm glad I found it at an off-hour time by chance and now record it. I've seen 4 episodes. It's exactly the affordable home remodeling show I want to see more of. And, the couple are talented, enjoyable and really get to know their clients.
PS. What happened to Saving the Manor? You showed one episode and none since. I want more!

Good Bones - that had to be the skinniest little lot I've ever seen. I can't believe they squeezed a house in there! OF course the house had to be narrow, but they did really high ceilings which helped. A little heavy on the pink outside for me and I didn't like that scrap metal basket "art," but that's easily remedied. And I didn't love the powder room right next to the kitchen, but there was really nowhere else to put it!

Good Bones Season 7 Episode 13 - Little But Luxurious - November 22, 2022
The lot was about 20 ft wide by 100 ft long and houses on both sides. I was wondering how they were going to do the build but noticed in the later building scenes that the white house on the right if you face the new build was demolished.
For a new build I think sometimes Two Chicks goes a little overboard for a starter home but as they already had the stove and some vanities in stock already it was not that big a deal. One point, the standard wide of a stove is 30 inches and they put in a serious upgrade with that 36 inch stove.
The 10 foot ceilings were very nice, as were the faux beams, and extra long island. I just never see a place to put the TV in many of these living rooms.
I was wondering why Karen was installing a Vanderwolf Pine so close to the house when last week in her spin off special about landscaping she took out 3 huge trees because they were planted too close to the house and could possible damage the foundation.
Note: So Season 7 comes to a close with 14 episodes (yes my numbers are off), and with two specials; Good Bones: Risky Business (6 episodes) and Good Bones: Better Yard (1 episode). Two Chicks also got a new permanent office space, remodeled an NBA players home, and designed Mina's friends Wedding Shop.

I just watched the first episode about these two girls wanting to flip a MidCentury Mod condo in Salt Lake City but only had a 50k budget, and after a certain point Chip and Jo popped in out of nowhere to yell at them like "What are you doing, ya'll suck!" It was at this point I was like "Wait a Minute, newsboi would have mentioned if Chip and Jo was on the show" so I looked again and realized it was First Home Fix! I am a mess.
Anyway, unfortunately the show is not yet available to Discover+ subscribers.

I'm not sure if non-Discover+ HGTV viewers can watch this yet but Erin and Ben from Hometown have a Christmas special called "Hometown Christmas in Laurel." It's a cute show where Erin cooks family holiday recipes and then they go down memory lane with some of their projects.

If HGTV really wanted to throw us a Christmas present, I would have preferred some more Boise Boys or maybe Houses with History, something like that. This will probably be some gray/black/white modern beach house, from the ad I saw. Meh. Still, I'll watch.

I think HGTV quiet quit Outgrown because Luke and Clint are mentioning everything but HGTV on their Instagram and whenever anyone brings it up they say they haven't gotten any news on renewal yet. It's been over a year, so that's not a good sign. Boise Boys was good TV, Outgrown wasn't.

Hometown is coming back December 4th, and I'm glad! First episode will showcase them renovating the new country home they just bought. Even Nate and Jeremiah's show is slated to return spring of 2023. If Outgrown had been renewed it would have either premiered in December with Hometown, or in January. I think they're dead in the water now.

Flip or Flop - sooo that was mainly a clip show with a little new house flip on the side. Basically the usual stuff in the "beach" house, the kitchen was nice but I didn't like that odd patterned tile they used in the showers. Cute decks up top. House was way over budget and over schedule and hadn't sold at the end of the show, so who knows if they made the mega profit Tarek was crowing about. Speaking of, he needs to lay off the cheek fillers and Botox, he's looking waxy and weird. The new Christina in the County and Flipping El Moussas shows look about as appealing as a colonoscopy. Yes, I'll probably hate-watch those too.

Yes, I'll probably hate-watch those too. Both C and T looked happy and were pretty relaxed with each other. Doesn't Tarek look almost chubby in the cheeks in the earlier shows? OMG, Christina looks border line anorexic. Tarek's new wife is pregnant, GAG. Both T & C look so happy their new lives I want to throw a rock at them both. Poor Nashville Christina is on the loose. I didn't mind the tile so much as the white grout didn't not make for a good look, they should have used a grey grout to complement the tile color.

Hometown:
Ben and Erin have bought a huge rambling house outside of Laurel and want to renovate. From what I understood they will still keep the loft they use as an office and their Laurel house, they just wanted a country house where they could spend summers with their children. I could instantly understand the appeal of the house as it has a lot of nice old detailing in the woodwork and bannisters and a lot of odd alcoves where children can happily hide and play. I also noticed that all the rooms in this house were super big with the exception of the kitchen, lol. There were only 3 owners (including the Napiers) for this house since the 20s, and the previous owners left Ben original scraps of wood from the house that he used in some projects. The master bedroom was HUMONGOUS; I mean, I've lived in smaller studio apartments! and Erin decided to create a library and desk area to take up some of the space, and Ben created a cool end table out of some of the old wood that was left to him from the previous owner. The bath was also huge and they opted for some rearranging of elements for the reno, including a wooden floor that at first I was "???" about until I saw it in action.
The sweet spots were the kitchen and the upstairs wing for their daughters. The kitchen was painted in a nice cream color and had high cabinets, and everything looked like it "belonged" with the age/style of the house but a modern, updated look; I absolutely loved it. The upstairs was renovated into two big bedrooms for their daughters with a big room connecting them that was converted into a huge playroom. I'm not a fan of wallpaper but have to admit it looked charming in the children's room, and Erin even included a sleeping hutch and another twin bed in the eldest room so the children could have sleepovers with their cousins. Great house, great episode.

Home Town
This year (2022) was season 6 for Home Town. It looks as of the season was split in to two parts. Season 6 consists of 20 episodes. It gets confusing as the order of the episodes on the HGTV website are never in the same order as the episodes that are aired.
On March 27, 2022 season 6 started airing, 7 episodes were aired.
Sunday, November 27, 2022 the Christmas in Laurel aired which is part of the 20 episode season 6.
Sunday, December 4, 2022 The Country House aired which is technically episode 8 of season 6.
This Wednesday, December 7, 2022 there is a Christmas Movie on HGTV at 10pm with Erin and Ben called "Christmas Open House".
A season 7 with 20 episodes was ordered on November 3, 2022.

I watched "Christmas Open House" so none of you would have to and it was a whole mess, kinda a hybrid between a Hallmark romance, a reno show, with some Property Brother styled graphics when they show what they could do with the space thrown in? For some reason Erin and Ben are called "Sara and Bill" who are renovators that are good friends of the leading lady who she asks for help in renovating her mom's house that is for sale. And even though the story takes place in a small town outside of Atlanta somehow the lead lady and the real estate agent for her mom's house (who the lady had a crush on in High School and who you know she's going to end up with by the end of the movie) end up driving to Laurel, MI, where they meet at "Billy's" studio (aka Ben's real-life studio) to discuss what they want to do with the house? What was the point of giving them fake names when the Scotsman's studio is a landmark in Laurel now and known to be Ben's crafting space? They should have just had them appear as themselves! Also, Billy ends up conveniently making a fireplace mantle out of wood for the house.
Basically, it's the type of light and frothy holiday trash I like to watch. Apparently there's going to be a similar movie with Hilary Farr next week, and yes, I will be watching that trainwreck as well.

Christina on the Coast - oh yay, a new season. Interspersed with clips of hubby #3 rolling up in what I think was a '70 Chevelle, we see Christina transform someone's outdated house into a white and sand-colored wonderland, with just a touch of the green that the wife said she loved so much.
Eh. It was an improvement over the original, but I do wish there was more color. I'm glad they changed to the gray-green for that island over the minty color, but there just wasn't enough of it, IMO.

Hometown:
Season 7 Episode 2: The Family Tree
Cute episode about an young engineer who wanted to get his own little slice of Laurel. Ben and Erin showed him two cheap properties; Raggedy and Even Moar Raggedy (complete with a crow hanging about) around the 30k range. Personally, I would have went for Raggedy, but Even Moar Raggedy was close to his mom's house so that's the one he chose. He was also able to get the price down to 14k so that was sweet? With a 200k budget that's a lot of money left over for the reno!
This episode also shows that unfortunately you never know the extent of a home's damage until you actually start pulling apart walls, floors, etc because this house had a ton wrong with it. Extreme termite damage along the entire front of the house, severe foundation issues, it was really bad and to the point that they could only give the homeowner two options; either they pulled off and rebuild the entire front of the house as well as lift it to rebuild the foundation, or tear it down and build a new home for 10k more than the first option would cost, but would extend the building time by two months. He went for option #1 because he didn't want to wait two months, and Erin and Ben did a lovely job. There was some creative cash cutting going on (ie: using porcelain tiles that looked like brick instead of Chicago brick for the backsplash which would have been a lot more expensive), but it all worked out in the end. The homeowner's dad (who was a dandy old man who dressed up for the occasion) brought a piece of wood from his dad's farm and Ben made two swings out of it for the beautiful old tree in front of the property. Other highlights were the kitchen (which was a nice grayish green color with the "brick" backsplash), the living room in warm orange and caramel colors, the lamp made out of a saxophone that Erin commissioned from an artisan, and a huge black and white bathroom with tons of storage.
One of the nice things about Home Town and Laurel is that there's a variety of housing stock and people on the show going from young people wanting a starter home to families, to older people who are single/had children who flew the nest to keep it interesting.

Designing Christmas:
Honestly, don't bother with this one. Story was slightly confusing; leads were...unconvincing, and I'm being nice. I fell asleep halfway through it; I guess I'm not the demographic for these types of shows? Continued watching the next day just to see if Hilary Farr would finally show up and she does but they used her like she was seasoning and they were stingy; not worth watching just for her.

Christina on the Coast - why are the intro clips on this show so awkward and forced? Anyway, Christina revisits a home they've worked on before to do the bathrooms. They were small, but nothing she could really do about that. I laughed at her descriptions - black/white/wood accents was "European spa," and black/gray/wood accents was "Bali spa." Okay then. They did a little seating area in the backyard and put a huge pool in someone else's place, taking up the majority of the yard. They also wasted ten minutes showing her burning sage to clear out bad juju in the office. This show, I swear.

Christina on the Coast - I rather liked the dark (black? Navy blue?) cabinets she used in the kitchen this time, with a natural wood colored island. Bathrooms were cute. I thought the pool table looked goofy taking up all that space, but the husband was dead set on that thing not going anywhere. I'm glad they went with LVP instead of engineered wood, too. I wish I'd done the same in my living room. So Christina and #3 are going to move into a new "forever house." I felt bad for the kids, they didn't seem to be thrilled at moving yet again.

All her symptoms sound like breast implant illness, hopefully she'll feel better when she gets them out. Sometimes your body just doesn't accept foreign crap like implants and fillers.
I highly doubt she got heavy metal poisoning from flips, it's not like she's actually doing demo (or any work, honestly). As soon as things start getting messy she's out the door.
