Another example of how you don't have to win the show to have a career in food......I saw Benjamina on THE KITCHEN. She apparently is well regarded as a cake baker in the UK, has a new cook book out on cake baking and made a blood orange upside down cake with the hosts. She is attractive and very articulate and talked about a business she and her twin sister have in London.

Checked in the usual places for this year's holiday shows and no luck. Looks like I'll have to wait until next year. I loved Benjamina on the show. She was so sweet, and I loved her brother/sister dynamic with Selasi. She also was on last year's holiday special and did very well.

I just read in the Daily Mail that NADIYA HUSSAIN was one of those on the New Year's Honor Role as a Member of the Royal Victorian Order along with Sir Elton John and Olivia Newton John.
I'm pretty sure this is the Nadiya from GBBO.

It is Nadiya from Bake-off. She was made the first level (MBE) of the Order of the British Empire.

I would love Richard Ayoade as a host. I know! He and Noel have natural chemistry and work extremely well together; I loved them on that travel show and The Big Fat Quiz.

We have our new co-host: I'm happy -- I mostly know him from Doctor Who but he's been in a hundred things in the UK. It may feel a little strange not to have a woman co-host at first, but I don't think the feeling will last long if he and Noel have good chemistry.

I like Matt Lucas. He has a positive energy. I think he’ll do well.

I don't recognize the name but probably know him by sight. They probably tested him with Noel so I'm not worried.

I looked him up on IMDB. He played Thenardier in the 25th Anniversary Concert version of Les Miserables. He seems like a good fit.

Watching Mary Berry's show Britain Best Home Cook on Hulu.
Finished season 1 and starting season 2.
I am in my cooking zen zone watching this show.

I found this last night on youtube. GBBS has 2 different 4 part specials with Paul & Mary. One is called Great British Comic Relief while the other is Great British Sports Relief. It was nice seeing Mary & Paul together.

^ Yes these are with celebrity contestants and are for charity. The past few years they have been done in collaboration with Stand Up to Cancer; before they were done with Comic Relief or Sport Relief, as you’ve noted. They’re actually airing a season of Great British Stand Up to Cancer Bake Off right now in the UK. Mostly British personalities, but they have had some Americans over the years like Jon Lithgow and Teri Hatcher. Richard Dreyfuss was in last week’s show.

Nadiya, my favorite Baking Show winner, has her own show on Netflix, starting April 29th!

Lol, at that twitter description. Netflix makes it sound like she has been languishing without opportunities until they came along. Like she hasn’t been on numerous shows in the UK, including this very show which originally aired in the UK.
But, yes, Nadiya is the best.

Looks like the only way we are going to get new shows (reality or otherwise) is if the cast and crew quarantine. What a world.

I'm thinking late October-December, going right into the Holiday Specials.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this show before, sorry I just don't want to read through 15+ pages of posts, but there is a show on youtube called Paul Hollywood City Bakes. He goes to various international cities to search what baked items they are famous for.
It was filmed a few years ago but I never knew. I found it on the Tonic channel on youtube. If it has already been discussed previously...sorry. I am really enjoying a different side of him.

According to several UK media sources (most of them too snarky and tabloid to quote directly): - They reportedly started filming the new season this week. A representative for Love Productions said, 'We are working hard to deliver Bake Off to the audience this year, the priority is the safety of everyone involved in the production of the series.'
- Like last year, they are casting fewer older contestants, but for a different reason this time (they are more susceptible to illnesses).
- There were reports that Prue may or may not be back, because at her age (80) and high-risk status, the show's insurers were refusing to cover her.
- Because of UK social distancing rules, the bakers will have to isolate together for the entire time of filming; normally, they only filmed on weekends and went home for the week in between.
- Both cast and crew were required to quarantine for a period of 14 days prior to filming and show bosses have said that filming will be stopped immediately should anyone fall ill during production.
- An obvious casualty of the pandemic is the Hollywood Handshake; no reports yet on a possible replacement gesture.
No word on when the new season will premiere, but it's looking like fall.

Fewer older contestants AND no Prue? I might have to take a pass this year; I did NOT really enjoy last years Bakeoff and the lack of diversity in demographics is a huge reason why.
