Giuseppe and Jurgen have been absolute marvels since the beginning of the season. Let's face it everyone, including the other bakers thought one of the two would win, but all it takes is one bad bake and you are out. After the technical it was pretty obvious that it was neck and neck. At the end of the showstopper it looked as if either Giuseppe or Jurgen would go. At this point I was hoping the judges would simply say all four are going to the final.
Jurgen was so classy through out the season and you could tell he was sad that he had to leave.

I really enjoyed watching Jurgen this season and was sad that he didn't move on to the finals. Both he and Guiseppe have been steady throughout the competition and are so modest about their talent. At this point in the show, it doesn't seem right that one bad bake will get you out, especially with three Star Bakers earned! I do like the other three bakers so am looking forward to the finals but will be missing Jurgen!

There's some speculation being made over at Reddit that Channel 4 is not going to let anyone 50+ win on this show because of their demographics, and Jurgen's exit is making the mutters get louder. It will be quite interesting to see who wins next week, especially if it's close.

I think that reddit speculation is kind of silly. The show is by far Channel 4's most watched show in the UK, it's not even close. I don't think a global megahit needs to worry about demographics. There were mutterings 2 seasons ago when the cast was much younger than usual, so there will be muttering no matter what they do.

I thought they were closer in age. The entire premise of the show is that age does not matter in baking.

I continue to be impressed by the closeness of this particular group; the group hug that the final 3 gave each other after the third task spoke volumes. Congratulations to the person that won, and apparently afterwards Lizzie and the other young lady went on a long road trip visiting all the bakemates and had a huge reunion at the end of their journey. I remember someone once saying that GBBO = making life-long friends and I believe it with this group.

Freya is the other young lady. I liked their post-show bit this year. All the reunions were cute.

Wow, the pressure of the final must be enormous as every season it seems the finalists make mistakes that are glaring.
All three are champions and I really would not have minded any of them being the Champion. After the cakestand was awarded you could really see what it meant for the winner. There were tears in my eyes for this.

I was nervous through the whole final. I’m so happy for Giuseppe. ❤️He was really emotional.

I'm happy for Guiseppe, but Crystelle would have won if she hadn't put so much oil in her Focaccia

I'm happy for Guiseppe, but Crystelle would have won if she hadn't put so much oil in her Focaccia When I saw it floating in the oil, I knew it was not going to turn out good. I believe she would have won if not for that as her showstopper was stunning. Chiggs had a good shot but, having some time left to stand back and relax, he didn't do much with his Chesire cat.

I got emotional when Guiseppe won as his reaction was so sweet. I'm a fan of all top 4 especially after seeing the last two episodes. Chiggs has more to learn as does Crystelle, but they both are so skilled and creative and gracious!

I’ve watched several times from mid-show stopper prep now that I know who won. I bet the other two wish they had kissed the lucky spatula. 🤣

Dang I love this show so much! I was gutted when Jurgen was eliminated, but the other three bakers were all so good that week.
I loved Crystelle’s reaction to Guiseppe being announced the winner! She screamed and jumped up and down for joy! It was really sweet and wonderful.

I was weeping for joy at the finals and Crystelle's emotional reaction at Guiseppe's win was a part of that. It's so nice to see such positivity in this world that seems to be full of sore losers.

I also love how this show announces a winner and then spends a few more minutes celebrating the winner, getting comments from the other contestants and judges, and showing the “road trip” clips. Feels so much more satisfying than most US reality shows that announce a winner and immediately end.

I also rewatched the videos from home earlier in the episode with the little background stories and pictures of them when they were kids. That added a lot.

The holiday episodes of GBBS will be available on Netflix this Friday, Dec. 3rd.
The Christmas episode features past contestants Jamie Finn, Rosie Brandreth-Poynter, Ruby Bhogal and James Hillery. The New Year's episode features 2 past winners, Nancy Birtwhistle and Rahul Mandal, plus Helena Garcia (the Halloween lady) and baby-faced Henry Bird.
Of course, if you have access to the British version of the show, you saw these episodes a year ago, as the US Netflix holiday shows are mysteriously a year behind the UK.

I loved the Christmas episode. Everyone did well, including that boybander looking guy (who really redeemed himself).
Some seasons on GBBO are classics you watch over and over again, and I think this is one of them. I love the closeness of this group and the genuine love and affection they have for each other.

Does anyone know who the contestants will be on this year's Christmas special w/Channel 4? I think: "The cast of Channel 4’s award-winning hit show It’s A Sin will be reuniting this Christmas for a seasonal special of The Great British Bake Off. Swapping the Pink Palace for an equally iconic erection, Olly Alexander; Lydia West; Nathaniel Curtis; and Shaun Dooley will enter the Bake Off tent to try their hand at some festive themed bakes."

The Netflix GBBO Holiday shows are a year behind what they show on Channel 4 so you won't be able to see the new New Year's show with Kim-Joy and Hermoine until next year. There should be 2 episodes on Netflix now; the Holiday show with Ruby and Rosie and the New Year show with Rahul and Helena (the Witchy-poo Lady) that aired last year on Channel 4.

Okay this might be interesting, or we might be heading into shark-jumping territory... Cakes On Stage: ‘Bake Off: The Musical’ Prepares For Theatrical DebutBy Caroline Frost July 17, 2022 5:15am The creators of TV global hit The Great British Bake Off will be hoping their magic touch transfers to a live audience when ‘Bake Off: The Musical’ makes its theatrical debut next week in Cheltenham, south-west England. The all-friendly but intensely competitive baking competition has been one of the great success stories of British TV in the last decade. Since making its debut on BBC Two in 2010, it has been sold around around the world, spawning versions in 35 countries and multiple spin-offs. Its creators Love Productions sold the show to Channel 4 in 2016, pocketing £25million and bringing the broadcaster a huge audience. Now Love have recruited writers Jake Brunger and Pippa Cleary to bring the show to life on stage – the pair previously worked on the West End version of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 ¾. Audiences will recognise familiar elements from the show. The distinctive TV theme music features occasionally in the score, and the set includes the distinctive pastel benches from inside the show’s famous tent. Characters will include familiar tropes too: from the technical wizardry of one contestant to a young baker determined to defy tradition. Director Rachel Kavanaugh told The Times that several of the stories have been inspired by real-life tales of contestants finding confidence through their baking. She said: “People sometimes bake for profound reasons, and sometimes practical reasons. One character in the show bakes because she’s got 17 grandchildren, and others bake for reasons more to do with loss or something missing in their lives. Baking is also a generous thing to do, and you’re doing it for other people. We explore how you make relationships through baking.”
