I thought they were respectful in the way they complained. They voiced their concerns - and they are there not just to execute but also to represent their neighbors - but they also followed with Hildi ultimately. Lets face it - Hildi is on the show because she goes artistic to encourage creative thinking rather than to leave behind a great room. She's memorable ... but not always because homeowners love what she does.
I don't like that this season they seem to have a theme each week for the designers to follow. Last week was divas, this week was the state fair. I don't like that both rooms have to be tied together like that.

While I can appreciate Hildi encouraging creative thinking......the outcome is a literal joke for the homeowners. My heart was breaking for the friend working on the room, knowing this was a major miss. I've had it with Hildi's absurd ideas for design; I wonder what type of work she does for her paying customers. I won't watch the episodes with her "work" after this one.

I'm glad everyone liked their rooms. I liked Ty's framed lead art.

I did not like all the wood in the motorcycle room. But she loved it and that’s what matters!

I didn’t like all that raw wood in the room either. The motorcycle drawings were cool though. The blue made the room dark.
In Tye’s Room my eye kept going to the bare spot in the corner where the were standing. It was missing a few strips. Where were these people going to put their clothes since they took all the dressers out .
While you were out that followed...the one wife said it was a room for her husband , he didn’t have a desk than he got the smallest desk ever. The bedroom was nice though. The other guy lost his desk too . I thought that room looked smaller when it was done.

It's one thing to not stain or paint wood, but to not seal it? I thought the composite wood on the walls of that attic room looked horrible. Like a dorm room.
I liked Ty's room, but I would have a) painted or at least sealed that bed and, if I'd painted it (probably white), b) I would have made the head and maybe the foot board solid. The pattern was nice, but far too busy against the wall. Yeah, and where are they supposed to put their clothes? Didn't like those crate nightstands either. More dorm room chic.
All that said, both rooms were LOADS better than anything Hildi does.

A couple returns 18 years later and works with the same crew of Doug, Hildi, and Ty. I thought Hildi's room came together nicely. I liked it and I think a nap on the hanging bed would be nice. Doug's room wasn't horrible. I liked the colors, even though there was a lot of them. When I saw that Hildi and Doug were back, I almost changed the channel. I was pleasantly surprised. I guess I was expecting the absolute worst.

I didn't like Hildi's pictures all over the walls. There were too many of them; couldn't she have done a few and made them bigger? It looked way too busy for me, but other wise the room was fine. Not as weird as we all know she can do! I agree, the hanging bed probably would sway nicely for a nap!

I liked both rooms. I liked that the starting point for each was basically nothing and both found ways on a low budget to make them look done. The wainscoating in the basement made a big difference, and I loved the platters on the wall. I agree the purple would get old after a while. But l liked it

As a (former) photographer and as someone who has lots of photographer, both talented amateur and professional, friends I can say with certainty, photographers do not decorate with other photographers work. They just don't. Occasionally, they might hang a work done by a very famous photographer or work done by a close friend or relative, But a whole room hung with the work of someone else? It would never happen! I think the effect of the room was fine but I doubt very much that the homeowner liked all those photos.

I didn't like either room. Neither of them looked like a "warm inviting family room". Doug's lavender overdose looked like a Batman villain's lair, and Hildi's looked like a teenager cut out a bunch of National Geographic pics and plastered them on the walls. I'm getting real tired of Doug and Hildi in general -- they deliberately try to make goofball rooms because the show thinks that's what viewers want. For me the joke has grown stale.

I was actually surprised at the out comes. I didn’t mind Doug’s purple basement ,it was an improvement from what they had. Sometimes they make it worse.
Hildi could have used less pictures , I thought it closed in the room. Loved that hanging bed, love me a swing...lol

Agreed about putting SO MANY photographs taken by someone else in a photographer's house. Even if that wasn't an issue, the execution was terrible. Hildi kept trying to say that the bubbles had gone away, but you could still see them, not to mention corners already pulling up. I can see painting the walls maybe a rusty brown or even a lighter color and then hanging the homeowner's photography in identical frames (imagine that - frames!) around the room.
As for the basement, I would have immediately painted over those purple walls and torn down that disco curtain. I like purple, but not as a paint color. At least the paint color would be easier to rectify than the wallpaper pictures in the other house.

I really liked doing the teacher lounges. It was a fun variation on the formula. I loved the school touches that Vern did pulling in the school mascot and the pencils for the vases and tables. However, as tuned in to function as Vern normally is, I was surprised he went with glass top tables. With so many people using those tables each day those will become a mess!

I liked this episode. Both lounges looked great. I really liked the benches along the wall and I liked that students got to help.

Loved Vern’s room. I think the glass tables made it more open. Liked he did the benches too to have more people in there. He kept all the microwaves too even though that on on the to shelf looked a bit hazardous. I noticed Carter went from three on the counter to only one.
I agree with the one lady who said no one wants to sit in a bean bag chair...lol and they were so small , maybe they would use them as balls. Had a couch but the coffee table was so low and unusable to me to. I think he had less tables in there too.
Vern for the win...lol

I mostly liked both rooms this week, except....did I miss or did we not see the part where the carpenter put plywood across the banquette seating before putting the cushions down? When they brought one in at one point to see how it would look, it just got set down on top of mostly open space with a few crosspieces extending out from the wall to the front edge of the seat (and they all plopped down on it).

I really liked both rooms and both couples. Hildi's tissue paper technique to making texture on the walls really worked well. Both rooms were relaxing and comfortable.

I can't believe I liked Doug's room better than Laurie's room. I didn't like the original or reboot colors Laurie used. At least Doug's room wasn't so bland. Maybe if Laurie had painted the door another color, I would have liked it more. I still wouldn't like either room in my home, but I do like the safari concept.

Laurie's room was boring but I hated Doug's room. After years of watching other shows where professionals spend tons of money making rooms look incredible, going back to this retro idea of making artsy/craftsy rooms with a small budget isn't as charming for me anymore, lol. I wouldn't want to live in a room that looks like a home craft project.

I didn't know this show still came on. About the only time I hear about it is a lady at work remembers some old episode where they glued feathers all over the walls and she still has some choice things to say about that however many years later.

I think a safari idea could be good without walls like that. I don't like the show themes. It was fine without themes for each episode before.

Besides the zebra walls, I also hated the fabric tacked to the ceiling and the drapery hanging over the open doorway. That's what kids do in their college dorms.

I liked Laurie’s room. It didn’t really suggest any new ideas but it was very much her style and I liked it. I also liked that she carried over concepts from the original room rather than actual ideas from that room. Doug’s on the other hand I didn’t like. The original was much better than the redo.
I’m torn on the themes each week. On the one hand I liked the days when they just came up with ideas without the manipulation. But on the flip side I think the challenge of so many higher budget design shows now does create a problem. By having themes they cover up somewhat for how much cheaper things look when done on such a limited budget.

Sabrina's mother is so funny. I loved Sabrina's room. I loved the wall color. I would keep that room as is. I'm glad Sabrina's mom liked Ty's room. I'm glad she can removed the Cuba parts she didn't want. Those paper airplanes would come off the wall ASAP, if that were my room. I think I would also take down the wallpaper behind the bed. I'm not a wallpaper fan anyway.

The title of this episode was "To the Extreme." Hildi and Ty both delivered on that. I was surprised that couples would volunteer about going on TS, ask for an extreme room, and then worry about Hildi being the designer. I would have expected her. I didn't like either room. I'm tired of the themes.

I caught the last few minutes of this week's show. Saw the crooked/warped wood slats in Hildi's room and the raw plywood floor with glue squiggles still on it in Ty's room, rolled my eyes and changed the channel.
I used to enjoy this show back in the day, but it just hasn't aged well.

Yeah those slates and dark walls made the room really small looking. The room was in need of a make over just not that one.
Is this the first time they let the teams know who was at there house? When they were line dancing.
Straw and a bar in the bedroom....just no. The jean quilt was nice but just wrecked it with the animals. I didn’t find that funny at all. Those guitars are going to fall on there heads too...lol

I used to enjoy this show back in the day, but it just hasn't aged well.Seriously! It's especially obvious when it's followed up by Nate and Jeremiah, who do beautiful designs and spend MONEY. A few weeks ago, N&J bought wall sconces that cost around $1500! Makes the TS $2K look like a pittance....and the difference shows.
I no longer feel ANY sympathy for homeowners who complain about their rooms or fuss because they got Hildi after saying that's the only designer they didn't want in their house. Do they not think that, as soon as they say that, the producers aren't immediately calling Hildi?
In this episode, they asked for "extreme" and got it. If they wanted more control over the type of extreme, they should have hired a decorator or done it themselves.

It is a waste of time to sign up for Trading Spaces and want control and no homework. They should know the show.
