I still like the budget part of this show. As much as I love the big budget shows and the ideas they can spark, sometimes people need a room makeover and don't have the money. So inspiring low budget ideas such as what slip covers can and can't do is nice. What irritates me most about the show is how often they keep making carpenters designers. Yes, the audience still loves to look at Carter and Ty. But they are not designers and never will be! When one of them has a room, I never think they bring ideas to the table that someone on a budget could use in their own home.

I'm the queen of doing things on a budget - I kind of pride myself on it. Unfortunately, there are too many projects on this show that LOOK like they're on a budget. You can make things that look expensive and not like the equivalent of a macaroni necklace made my a first grader.
I'm over Ty and his "designs." Uncovering the crappy plywood flooring and deciding that looked great was ridiculous. At least they could just go get something to cover it. Laminate or actual wood flooring would have looked great. I hope they didn't toss the brand new carpet Hildi tore out.. That sucked. If it's still there, they could probably have it reinstalled (it didn't look like they damaged it when they removed it).

I love cheap DIY projects too, but cheap doesn't have to mean tacky. Why couldn't they sand the plywood and apply some quick dry poly? It would have looked so much better. I've also seen people rip down sheets of plywood to mimic hardwood planks. Nail them down, stain and poly. Decent floors for cheap! Anything but raw plywood with glue splattered on it.

This is the perfect example of why Ty should not be used as a designer! A a carpenter, he more than most anyone else should have ideas of what could be done to make a simple floor look great. Instead, he came to the table with few ideas for the design, and took the easy way out. If the mission is to have Ty on every episode, they'd be better off making him the comic relief co-host with Paige instead of pretending he's a designer.

I actually liked Ty's Design but I agree he should have finished the floor. I wish people wouldn't come on the show though and say they want crazy stuff and get upset when they get it as the couple with in the Asian inspired room did. Hildi has been on like 90% of the episodes and so you have to know that you going to get crazy when you come on this show.

This week they are having a competition to be Frank's assistant. I don't think this episode was necessary. Are they trying to get a competition spin off? I hope TLC doesn't ruin this comeback with themes and moving too far beyond the original format.

I have turned it off already.
This show is going down hill fast for me. Wish there was something worth watching Saturday night....

I sat through the whole thing, half in disbelief at how "Amateur Hour" it was. NONE of those people made anything even remotely worthy of TS and that's saying a lot considering the ridiculous stuff they make on this show.
With some of the challenges, especially the "lamps," the comment were SO lipstick on a pig. They were ALL terrible. WHY would you use candy to assemble a lamp!? Start to finish, it was just embarrassing.
Why does Frank need an assistant? Is he having health issues?

That was the worst thing I've seen in a while.

Thank you all for suffering through it and voicing your opinions, I trust you all so when I returned from vacation today I deleted the episode from my dvr without even giving it a try!

Yeah, like at one point they were hot gluing cardboard together.
Welcome back home!

It was horrible. It didn't make any sense. Eliminated contestants kept returning for the next round, the competition activities weren't even good enough for a school art class, and the editing was horrible. I wish I could take that time back. Welcome back!

I only liked one of the creations. Jason made the wall paper sample (I guess) by painted seaweed. I thought that looked pretty cool. The lamps were awful as were the other building creations.

I liked both rooms, but I like rustic style. I don't know if I would want tree branches like the ones Carter used. I don't know if Carter's chaise lounge would be very comfortable. Frank's assistant was there. I don't know why the producers felt the need to add an assistant.

Loved Frank's room.
That assistant was super annoying telling us that he is from Miami every time he opened his mouth. I hope we don't have to suffer through another assistant again.

I never like Carters rooms. It was very bland to me . The shelves with that tree branch was bad including the stuff he put on it . I guess if you were on survivor you would like to sit on that chaise other than the ground but not to read a book. Guess it’s art in the room...lol
Frank’s room was nice. Better than what they had and nothing really needed changed.

I liked both rooms. Frank's a little better than Carter's. I did not like the plants by the bed in Carter's room but I loved the tree branch art.
I didn't mind Jason, I was rooting for him last week. I think the Miami thing was just nerves.

I liked both rooms but that chaise made out of logs would have to go. It must be miserably uncomfortable to lie on. The plants by the bed looked nice but it's impossible to keep them alive. Watering them would be tedious and they probably don't get enough light. I haven't watched many episodes of Trading Places but usually I absolutely hate both rooms. This time, with a few minor changes, they both would be usable for me.

Glad they brought it back. And really the show started off the housing craze you can say.
