The Kids Are Alright - The Top 14 contestants are split into two teams to compete in a fine dining challenge and are to cook 39 dishes for a group of very discerning judges who have big expectations. Contestants are surprised when diners are revealed and forced to scramble and alter their dishes to accommodate the guests. Ultimately the winning team's recipe will be printed in Family Circle Magazine. The losing team will compete in a cupcake pressure test with special guest and pastry chef Christina Tosi.
Enjoy the show!

As soon as I saw Mark's clip at the beginning of the show, I knew he was toast. He'd turned into an arrogant little turd anyway - bowing up at experienced chefs who were trying to tell him he was doing the sauce wrong? Okay. And do we really need to keep panning up to see what stupid expression Shanika has on every ten seconds? Stop it.

I also knew Mark was a goner after his clip at the beginning of the show. I'm also not convinced his cupcakes were the worst. Christina made quite an effort to tell them that she doesn't know any of them, so her decision would be based only on their cupcakes. However the judges took the time to dress down Mark right in front of her before she made her decision, which I'm sure helped sway her. Even though Mark acted like an arrogant jerk, the challenge was the best cupcake and Gerron's didn't even rise and were dense and unappetizing. She even said she didn't enjoy it. Mark's were baked correctly, unfortunately he didn't have the full dozen and the strawberries may have made the cupcake a little wet inside. I think it was a hard call, but someone decided it was Mark's time to go, so he went.
The kid's challenge was ridiculous. Who decided this was a good idea? Julia's team should've at least sliced their filet so it would be easier for the kids to eat. Most 6 years olds aren't adept with a steak knife- nevermind using it to cut into a 2 inch thick filet. I also thought it was a little too perfect that the one kid said the puree was too sweet after they decided to sweeten it so the kids would be more inclined to eat it. Once it was announced who the 'special guests' were, I expected one team to get out the food processor and grind those steaks up and make hamburgers! I suspect that team would have won easily! Kid's taste buds aren't developed enough at 6 to discern what is good or bad- they mostly go by what it looks like. If they decide it looks good enough to try, they will then decide if they like it based on texture and taste. I know from which I speak, I work in an elementary school kitchen, feeding 3rd-5th grade- trust me...they are picky! And the younger ones (3rd and below) are even more picky than the 4th and 5th graders and don't like trying new things at all!

Add me to the list of those knowing Mark would be eliminated after seeing the first few minutes of the show. Then when he refused to listen/change his cooking method when the judges were all telling him there was one right way to make the sauce and he was doing it wrong...I knew he was a goner. You don't ever tell Gordon Ramsey that you know better than he does. Bye bye Mark.

Sorry to see Mark go. Poor guy. Hope he won't kick himself too hard or for too long. His youth bit him. I thought his comment about being around people more his age, referring to the kids, was so sweet. The he proceeded to remind us all how right he was.

I didn't think Mark's cupcakes looked as bad as Gerron's, but his arrogant attitude (edit maybe?) justified his ousting. He'll probably be just fine in life though. As long as he learns to take criticism and direction a little more maturely.

It would make me ridiculously happy if we never had to look at her snarky, arrogant face again!!
Yeah, Mark was doomed from when he opened his mouth about 30 seconds into the show.

And I though Mark's cupcakes looked pretty good. I mean, not PRETTY but good! I don't care if I have to scoop it up with a fork - a yummy cupcake is a yummy cupcake!

When i first saw the kids running out, I thought they were former Junior Masterchef contestants. THAT would have made more sense than just regular kids as they would have a sense of good food more than most kids...what they did was ridiculous.
