My 600 Pound Life on TLC

I'm sitting here watching tonight's episodes with the twins and.....WTF? One of them is pregnant!? The other twin said something like, "I didn't even know this was a possibility." Um......she's got a uterus and she's been having (apparently unprotected) sex. WHY do all of these adults not know how to use birth control!? ohno
I want to take away their hair gel. This wet hair look they've got going is pretty terrible. There are other ways to tame curly hair - I'm assuming that's why they use it.

The twins were hard to watch, i had to turn it off after i found one of them was prgnant. I hope all goes well for them. Did she keep rhe baby or put it up for adoption? She seemed so ambivilent about having a child.

They didn't show the baby being born, so I have no idea if she kept it or not. When Dr. Now asked if the father was involved, she just looked down and didn't say a word. It's so cliche. You just know she was so happy to be getting ANY attention, she slept with whoever showed interest and let's be honest, there are a lot of men who prey on women like this because they're considered easy picking. It's terrible, but there it is.
I was shocked at how many people on the official FB page were wishing her well with her new little "angel." Frankly, I was shocked no one asked why she wasn't using birth control. She is in no way ready to take care of a child. She can barely take care of herself.
I'm always shocked at how high the goal weights Dr Now sets are. The twins' goal weight was around 180, which is considered overweight for anyone under about 6', and the twins are definitely a good bit shorter than that. If they're losing SO MUCH weight, why not get them down into a healthy weight range?

I got a weird feeling about the pregnancy. The girls had such anxiety issues; i could not imagine eithre one of them sleeping with someone. I hope it was not one of the film crew or support crew. They had been filming the twins for a couple years; perhaps someone got too close. She seemed so ashamed in docotor Now’s office. The twins said they had some family issues; i hope all gets resolved and the twins lead a healthy life.

I do like that they're doing follow-up episodes - it's hard to see much progress in a year when the people start out at a minimum of 600 lbs - but last night's episode was rough.
I was glad Roni got away from Michael, but WOW. While he seemed a bit "off," I'm amazed that they hid the abuse from cameras in the previous episode. You could tell how upset Dr. Now and the therapist were by what happened - she seemed on the verge of tears (I know I was). While Dr. Now generally stays "all business" and isn't super warm and fuzzy, I think the fact that he immediately took care of re-bandaging her finger and told her to come back so they could keep an eye on it shows how much he cares. Those poor kids having to witness that. I'm glad she's getting away from him and staying with the program. I hope he doesn't cause any more problems for her.

Michael smiled up big time when he heard that she could not have the surgery because of medical issues. He did not want to see her lose weight.
I was horrified listening to the finger business. That did not add up though. She fought to be in a bathroom with someone that didn't want her there. She said she was trying to block her husband's nudity, um while he is is closing the door. They are both very aggressive. It is good they are separated.
There was one lady last night who lost a lot of weight and had knee surgeries and a makeover. I am very happy for her.

Do you mean Dr. Now(zaradan)?
Am I the only one who thought Lisa was James' mother? His whole first episode and part of this one, I didn't know she was his gf/wife (they referred to her as both - maybe they're common law?). Talk about dysfunctional. WOW, those two are horrible. She's not going to be satisfied until she's fed him to death. Kudos to Dr. Now for doing everything he could, but I seriously hate it when people are so nasty to him. Sorry, but I disagree with APS. Yes, he was feeding himself, but she was providing the food against doctor's orders and it was the ONLY way he was gettig food. She knew exactly what she was doing. I wish they'd hidden cameras in his hospital room to catch her in the act, although maybe that would be considered a HIPAA violation.
There haven't been any updates and I'd guess that if James died, we would have seen news stories or something.
I'm sure we'll see a follow-up with Cynthia and she'll have gained weight. Why do they ALL think they know better than the medical professionals? If they knew better, they wouldn't have needed Dr. Now in the first place!

I thought Lisa was his mother, too. And I don't think I've ever seen Dr. Now so mad! Those two insisted on sitting there and lying about her bringing him all that food. No, you didn't gain all that weight from thin air, and it's not all swelling. It's fat. That InTouch article says James had kidney failure, sepsis, and fatty cirrhosis of the liver...not surprised. I honestly expected a message at the end of the show saying he'd died. I mean, is she trying to kill the guy? Why would you do that to someone you supposedly loved? I don't care if they laid there and screamed bloody murder, I'm not going to bring you a bunch of junk food.
I don't know what to say about Cynthia. Yes, you know so much more than all those silly doctors, that's why you're in the state you're in (though at least she did lose a lot).

I also thought we would get some postscript that he passed away too.
I don't know if Lisa is trying to kill him or not. I do wonder if she has Munchausen's by Proxy.

And as for Lisa telling Dr. Now not to "degrade" them, I think her and James have done a fine job of degrading themselves. No one helps them? What is Dr. Now doing? How about all those medical personnel? Another case of wanting the magic surgery and not doing anything to change your lifestyle. They are users and I hope they don't "grace" my TV anymore.

And he yelled at Dr. Now for not providing a trapeze so he could pull himself up. I'd be interested in the cost of a medical trapeze compared to the cost of enough food for someone to gain 60 pounds in a week. Entitled much?

There are so many complaints and blame on everyone and anyone except themselves. How much food can one eat in one week to gain 60 lbs???? It had to be bags and bags of fast food. That is why Diana was so refreshing, she took ownership of her mistakes and worked hard to get healthy.

Yes. Thank you! Now for short.
His father had gotten a mortgage on his house to pay the medical moving costs; and the couple are just eating and lying....no consideration for other people.
There was another large woman with leg growths and back fungus who ended up gaining all her weight back and not even losing enough for surgery--she controlled everything in her micro universe.....her poor kids.
Oh well. There was a couple of ones this past week that contributed to their success. Good for them!

Yeah, where "degrade" is synonymous with "calls you on your bs." They just don't have much experience with people who don't either buy their crap or who at least don't call them out on it. This episode was the first one where someone actually brought up the SMELL. His legs are just stomach-turning and it has to be painful. I'm sure he's got some numbness, but it can't ALL be numb. All that infection and dying flesh. Just looking at it made me queasy. I don't even want to think about how terrible the smell is. How can you just accept that?

I tried to look on internet for update on the two sisters and brothers. I hope they are doing well. I went searching, lizard, but could not find any news other than their story is a 3 part arc on TLC. It first aired early May but I only saw the 1st episode very late last night. I read that they are still working on losing but in the only photo I could find, none looked much slimmer. I am still shocked that all 3, especially the 802 lb sister, were ambulatory. 😲

I can't imagine how her knees have held out under that amount of pressure.
It's strange how NOT readily available updates about past participants of the show are. I've searched for updates about a number of them and usually what comes up is the page on the official TLC site with just the "update" they do right after the show airs. A few of them are active on SM, but most seem to disappear after their episode airs.

MY GOD, has any episode been more crushingly depressing!? I truly hope that people watching this show who may find themselves on the same road as Sean - super obese and totally reliant on a parent or family member - will see this episode as a wake-up call. He literally has no life skills, little money and NO support at all. On the one hand, I really felt for Sean, OTOH, he's the one who got himself into this situation.
Also, I don't have a huge budget, but I don't buy his excuse that the ONLY thing he can afford is pizza. Buy a big bag of rice and a big bags of beans and some frozen veg. There are plenty of dollar stores around (I looked and there are some in Houston that sell fresh produce and other food items) and people who would probably be willing to do his shopping for him. Maybe someone from that church that came to help him with the apartment? If he doesn't get his act together soon, he's going to die, alone in that crappy little apartment.
Once again, another participant in this show casts Dr. Now as the antagonist. Sean: "I'm just not ready to deal with his attitude." Are you freaking kidding me? He's trying to save your life! I always feel sort of protective of Dr. Now and it always ticks me off when they act like he's in the wrong. It's as if HE cares more about their life than they do. I can't imagine how frustrating these people can be for him sometimes. They all think THEY are the exception and know more than he does, when they wouldn't have needed his help in the first place if they knew anything.

If Sean becomes bed ridden again and has someone take care of him, maybe they can keep him on a healthy diet. And its not that they don't have the money for healthy food, its that they are lazy (addicted and depressed) and want the bad stuff.

And its not that they don't have the money for healthy food, its that they are lazy (addicted and depressed) and want the bad stuff. Only if they care enough about him and have thick skin too. As we've seen, many of these people get super nasty when they don't get the food they want. That's a really hard job, even if it's someone you love. It would be even harder for a stranger. Whenever they admit they ate junk food and Dr. Now asks why, they all seem to have some bs excuse about why they're eating things they shouldn't. The real answer is because they wanted to. The end. You can find healthy food pretty much anywhere, even at fast food restaurants, so only finding fast food on the road isn't an excuse. I cringed when Dottie and her husband went out to dinner and she ordered a Caesar salad - one of the most highly caloric salads she could have picked (assuming there wasn't a Chinese chicken salad on the menu!). Not all salads are healthy! That one has cheese and croutons and creamy dressing. She would have been better off getting a burger with no bun/grilled chicken or steak and some grilled veggies. Didn't she even say they aren't supposed to have that salad? They always think they know better than the doctor and then act surprised when they don't lose weight.

I just read the news that LB Bonner has passed away. He was the man with the prosthetic leg. A really nice guy with some issues family wise.

Yes, very sad. He had posted beforehand a cryptic type message on his public Facebook page. Really breaks my heart. People don't realize when they commit suicide, they are transferring their pain to someone else. His mother must be devastated.
