Yeah, he gained a bunch, hitting almost 800 lbs. at one point. He's the guy who gave us "Ow mah leg" and "reg rolls." Dr. Now ended up calling Adult Protective Services on his fiancee who kept sneaking him food in the hospital. And I think he ended up hospitalized later for kidney failure. Honestly, I'm surprised he lived this long, his health was awful.

Honestly, I'm surprised he lived this long, his health was awful. When I looked him up, an article said he got to around 840lbs, which is just staggering. Depending on heights, that's FOUR slightly overweight people.
I remember the food sneaking, although he definitely wasn't the only one with someone doing that. Some people have a really f-ed up idea of what love is.
I remember the leg stuff. I muted him.

Thanks, way. I vaguely remember him. They all seem to blend together at this point. Is he the one who gained over 100 pounds between appointments? Every time someone from this show dies, it's sad how NOT surprising it is. I'm sure they ALL think it's not going to happen to them, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary. Sorry about the link. James was in the top 5 of unlikable poundicipants.

I am only surprised he made it this long. He was the one with the wife that over fed him with an evil grin on her face.

I always check the TLC FB page to see what the consensus is about the episode and this one sounds like a complete waste of time. Several people said it's the worst episode they've ever seen. Anyone agree? I haven't watched yet and I'm leaning toward just deleting it off the DVR. I read that she threatens Dr. Now, which is just beyond the pale.

I'm watching it now out of pure curiosity and 1. She's out here catfishing people on social media 2. Dr. Now has pegged her as a pathological liar from her very first visit with him This looks like it's going to be messy...
edit: Had to turn it off after the first hour; I couldn't take it anymore. The fake smiles. The lies. The strong sense of entitlement. Ugh.

She's already been on Catfish. Saw a clip of her meeting up with her victim and Nev.
Now I REALLY understand why her family wants nothing to do with her.
TLC - does no one on your staff know how to do basic background checks? All of your reality shows seem to feature people who think that being on TLC is a career goal.

I can't believe they wasted a whole show on that clown Ashley. Apparently she was just as horrible on Catfish as she was last night...and she didn't even weigh 600 lbs., so I don't know why she was on. A lazy, sarcastic, ignorant pathological liar who never intended to do anything meaningful, just grab some more TV time. Not surprised she had no family helping her. And "I know my veins!" is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. I wish I could channel Dr. Now's unbotheredness when dealing with idiots.

What I hated the most was she completely felt entitled to getting free surgery, as if it was her right. Not sure why she wasn't losing the weight (PCOS? Plus it's harder for diabetics in general because of the insulin resistance) but I have my suspicions that she was sneaking in some food she shouldn't have.
Her friends were angels for putting up with her and driving her to the appointments, because after an hour of the fake niceness and insincere "Yes sir" to Dr. Now I was feeling a strong sense of backpfeifengesicht. Nothing redeeming about her or her personality.

No way she's going to lose weight when her idea of a "treat" for enduring one therapy session was two big ass Domino's pizzas. Psh.

I do believe we have somebody on this show who is more unlikeable than those 2 brothers from New Jersey.
Why do these, for lack of a better word, "castmates" take their shoes off everytime they get weighed? Those pesky 2 ounces are not a factor whether or not you qualify for surgery.
I know it is frowned upon with this board but how can a person who is on basic disability afford a big screen tv. Wait did I hear that right...she had 3,000 different online profiles?

Probably don't pay their bills and spends their check on a tv. I am sure most of them are on food stamps. I want to know how they afford the amount of food they eat. That would have to be more than what the food stamp allotment is. I mean a pound of bacon is $4.00 up. Chips and sodas aren't cheap.] and factor in the amount of take out food they get. Sheeeesh

If she's catfishing people, I'd guess she's also scamming them for money rtoo. I deleted this episode from my DVR. I don't need to waste two hours on this person.

How do we even know she's on assistance? Unless she's disabled single people can't get it.

She specifically said she receives disability payments. Thanks AZ, I didn't hear that. I figured as much that she did. It was toward the beginning when she was talking about where she had lived before. She was sitting on the love seat under her window. She said something like, "I finally got my disability, so I was able to move out on my own."

I know it is frowned upon with this board but how can a person who is on basic disability afford a big screen tv. Wait did I hear that right...she had 3,000 different online profiles? Only if it's just speculation. If they specifically say they're on assistance (and it sounds like she is), it's fine to discuss it. We'd just prefer facts in this case. We only see these people for a few hours out of a whole year, so we really don't know their whole story.
I have a pretty nice, big TV that I got for a song at an estate sale. I think it retailed for $1,200 and I got for literally 10% of that. Looking at it, maybe people would make (incorrect) assumptions about my income level or where I got that TV. Just a good reminder that not everything you see on TV has one explanation.
There are MANY people on disability and assistance who aren't abusing the system, so we prefer posters not demonize these folks for something they might not even be doing. Like I said upthread, if she's catfishing people, she may be scamming them for money too. There are a lot of amoral people on the internet who con people into giving them money. Happens ALL the time. If she's a manipulator, she might be doing it too Maybe she had a sugar daddy or someone who was buying her things.
What I care about is that she was rude and nasty to Dr. Now and it sounds like she barely tried to follow his plan. I don't want to waste my time watching someone like that

Based on comments on the TLC FB, this sounds like another waste of two hours. Accurate?
This was the season finale. I'd like to think they'll do better next year, but I'd guess that's the season they suspended filming on, so it's likely too late to improve things. I've seen a lot of comments on FB and we're not the only ones frustrated by the series right now.

It ...wasn't that bad?
I mean, she did question Dr. Now, but also admitted that she didn't understand what he was saying, which is more than what that thing did last week. I think she was sincere about losing weight but got backtracked by her daughter's illness. At least she called Dr. Now to tell him that this was not a good time in her life to continue with the program, and he wished her well and told her that if things got better and she needed help once more to give him a call.

They tricked us! She had so much promise at the start - had a job, could drive, happy childhood, had support, was (mostly) honest with Dr. Now about what she ate, seemed to be sincere...then the attitude came out along with the excuses. She kept getting defensive when he said she was still eating too much but wasn't realizing it. And that final Skype call was just a mess, she was talking in circles.
I'm sorry that her daughter has health issues, but if she won't lose weight, who's going to take care of that child? She "didn't have time" to try the liquid diet he suggested for a few days...come on! How hard is it to chug a premade protein shake for breakfast/lunch, then have some broth for dinner. Excuses.
I think the WATN episodes start next week, maybe we'll have some success stories there. What happened to the Vanilla Hippo episode? I was looking forward to that.

As soon as Erica said Jimmy's name for the 50th time in an hour, I thought, "Oh, honey, he's leaving you." How on earth do you gain over 150 pounds in a few months!? That's insane. It feels like she needs even more intense therapy than Lola can give her. What a mess. You should never focus your entire life on one person. I won't be surprised at all if we hear that Erica has died. You can't heap that much abuse on your body and not have the bill come due sooner or later. Man, David's crack about how, when you're 700 lbs, you take what you can get was super harsh. Must feel great to hear someone talk about you that way on national TV I do wonder if he's disinterest in further treatment has to do with the lawsuit he filed against the production company. At least Benji seems to be doing well. It's been a while since we've seen anyone get that close to their goal weight. It did seem to me like he really needed to get himself to the gym to start building some muscle, especially with that new business. At least there was a little bit of success this week!

ARGH she was so irritating. Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy. Did you see the coaster she had with his face on it? Who even DOES that? Erica was nothing but a big black hole of neediness, and I can't believe they let her have a third surgery. She won't succeed. And you know she only went back to California to stalk Jimmy. David was a clown. Yeah, his girlfriend may have been an enabler, but she stuck by his big ass when he was at his worst. But now that he lost weight he thinks he's hot shit and drops her because he can do better and moves right in with someone else? Okay. At least we had Benji, who was awesome. I hope he continues to do well, with himself and his business.

When his bubble gets busted because he discovers he doesn't have access to the women he feels entitled to because they realize early on he's a piece of [redacted] he'll be back, and hopefully she'll be long gone. Weight may come and go but being a user on top of low self esteem is forever if you don't work on yourself.

Two actual success stories last night - I thought I was watching the wrong show for a minute. I remember Pauline being quite unpleasant before, but she did well over time. Her legs were such a mess. Pauline's poor son still looks like 250 lbs. of depression, though. I hope he's okay, it doesn't seem like he has much of a life. I liked Alicia, but that boyfriend Tim? Hm. Dr. Now sure cracked the whip on his ass when he wouldn't let Alicia speak for herself. I have no problem with him being involved in her treatment, but he seemed too controlling and dismissive of her hopes and plans. Especially after calling her naive for wanting to go back to school and better herself. Jerk.
