UGH, that is it with these women and their terrible men!? This is the second episode in a row where we've had to listen to a woman yammer on about their jerky husband/boyfriend. It would have been even better if Tim went by Timmy, but still. I did not need to hear his name 50 times in the episode. What a controlling, mentally abusive jerk. As soon as she said something about how he "let" her join the gym, I thought, "Oh boy, here we go." He LET her? There was something later in the episode where it sounded like he was giving her permission about something. I can't remember what it was. Just gross.
I was happy to see Pauline finally getting her act together. I thought sure she'd be another of Dr. Now's failed patients. I wish they'd step in and get her son some help. In the real world, he's probably heavy enough to qualify for WLS himself. They need to get him in to see a therapist - there's no way he doesn't need it - and a nutritionist. Once his mom is able to live her life without his help, he needs to be able to go out on his own and live HIS life too. I always feel so sad for these children who are tied to their dependent parents.

Two actual success stories last night - I thought I was watching the wrong show for a minute. I remember Pauline being quite unpleasant before, but she did well over time. Her legs were such a mess. Pauline's poor son still looks like 250 lbs. of depression, though. I hope he's okay, it doesn't seem like he has much of a life. I liked Alicia, but that boyfriend Tim? Hm. Dr. Now sure cracked the whip on his ass when he wouldn't let Alicia speak for herself. I have no problem with him being involved in her treatment, but he seemed too controlling and dismissive of her hopes and plans. .Especially after calling her naive for wanting to go back to school and better herself Jerk. That's a red flag if I ever saw one.

What a waste of time those two were. Cynthia had all the excuses - I have kids, so I'm too busy for anything but fast food! - and Dottie was a whining sack of crap. Landon needs his mawma!!! she cries as she gains 40 lbs. in two weeks. Both had nothing but stank attitude for Dr. Now at the end.
They were both gaining at a steady clip as they both quit the program, so they'll either come crawling back once they hit 600 again or end up hospitalized.

I turned after that part about the fast food and how do you gain 40 pounds in two weeks. Poor Dr. Now is getting nothing but losers. I would like to know this as well! What in the living... One pound weight gain is 3500 calories consumed. That means she had to consume 140,000 calories in 2 weeks. Holy Moly that is a lot of high calorie food.

A lot of these people regularly eat around 10,000 calories a day without thinking, so what is unthinkable (and likely physically impossible) for most of us, is just them eating a little more than they've always eaten. Dottie is a freaking mess. She fusses endlessly about being away from her kid and then as soon as she gets out of rehab, she dumps him with friends for a month. WTF? When she was going into her appointment and the voice over said something like, "Now that I'm in the 200's" and I said, "No you're not." I'm not very good at seeing when people have gained weight, especially very large people, but I could tell she'd gained A LOT. Why wouldn't she kick her husband (boyfriend?) out instead of leaving? Cynthia eats a burrito the size of her arm and then doesn't understand why she's gaining weight WHY do so many of these people think they know better than the doctor and why do so many of them think exercise is the key? Maybe they watch Biggest Loser which really does make it seem like exercise is the main component of weight loss Dr. Now has corrected people about that multiple times, but so many of them believe it.
You know what we've never (I don't think) seen? When one of them gains weight or doesn't meet the goal they're given, not one of them has asked to meet with a nutritionist.

Charly was the only thing positive about last night's show. I hope she continues to be well and gets to go to nursing school like she wants. Getting away from her trainwreck of a mother really helped. Teretha lives in Delusionland. The scale is broken! I'm working so hard! Nobody knows what I'm going through! So after going through surgery, losing some weight and getting off diabetes meds, she decides to just eventually plop back in bed and not move because she's so "busy." Yeah. Busy folding those two dirty towels and letting her grandkids sit with her in bed on her pee pad. Now she's on oxygen and that diabetes has probably come roaring back. Great job. And just because chicken is on the diet plan, doesn't mean fried chicken is. Charity was another mess - she was totally high during her first appointment, and her attempts to guilt poor Charly pissed me off. Sits in a bar drinking and eating greasy bar food, spends money on a big tattoo but won't fix her teeth...ugh. She posted on her Facebook that she had a kidney removed earlier this year due to cancer, too.

If you haven't watched last night's episodes, don't bother. Brandie gained 73 lbs. in a month (?!) then spent the rest of the episode laughing and grinning like an idiot. She had to be high. Clarence was all attitude, stomping out of the therapy session like a bratty child. Really disrespectful to Lola. Roshanda is the only one I had hope for, but she's so codependent on her siblings... Rumor is that next week's show is the Assanti brothers again. Lord help us.

Well that was a mess. I'm still laughing over Dr. Now asking Steven if he knows about soap and water, because people in the back room are vomiting from his stench. And who marries a rank, drug addled man-baby with mental issues when she has a teenage daughter that will be around all that nonsense??! She either took out a massive life insurance policy on him or she was hoping for a TLC show. Either way, it sounded like she was done with him at the end of the show. No amount of money is worth putting up with that clown. I had hope for his brother Justin, but he was more obsessed with talking about Steven than he was getting on with his life.

Well I was surprised someone wanted to marry him too. He even said he was mean to her. We never got to see her face , it did say she reached out to him on social media.
So right about Justin but he did lose weight. I thought that Justin lost the store in the last show of those two. Maybe I’m remembering wrong.
They were both wanting their father’s attention Steven had that right.
I too was shocked when Dr Know said he needs to bath and thought about that poor taxi guy that had to lift his leg into the van.

With people stuck at home and into projects, I could see him doing good business. I have friends who are doing puzzles like crazy and my cousin's boyfriend is big on horror models. I wish him luck. One thing Steven got right, he knows he is a manipulator and not a good person.

I think this is another episode I'm going to take a pass on. Steven is just too much for me. Just zero redeeming value. I only watched part of their first episode and turned it off. They're both depressing and infuriating. I knew of Steven before he was on this show - he had videos on YouTube. He seems like a pretty lost cause. I mean, I don't think Justin lost that much weight either (based on the pics I saw), but he seems to be better as far as his mental health....although compared to Steven, most people are better in that regard.
Steven needs much more help than Dr. Now can give him. I don't really understand why Dr. Now would take him on as a patient.

Sometimes, weight loss surgery can be scary. I know someone who suffered similar complications afterwards and died. It's a good tool, but not for everyone.

I watched that little video in the TMZ article and literally have NO memory of her. I'm sure I watched her episode, but I don't remember her.
These complications and risks are why so few doctors are willing to perform WLS on the super obese. There are just too many ways it could go wrong. I wonder how much money Dr. Now pays in malpractice insurance. It must be huge.

So. They finally air the "Vanilla Hippo" episode, and what a waste of air time she was. I think she was only on TV to get more guys to her OnlyFans page, where she gets paid to eat on video. She also made the mistake of getting on Twitter last night to talk crap about Dr. Now, which wasn't well received.

I can't get over how that hospital let her order food and she gained 140 while there!
Can you imagine I woke up wanting carrot cake?

Wait; she gained 140 pounds while in hospital!?
How does that work?

This hospital was more like a hotel, they let her order outside food. It's like a heroin addict getting delivered drugs while they are in rehab. Finally, someone stepped in because she was going to die in that bed with no one helping with her addiction.

Post by Kao on Dec 31, 2020 19:49:30 GMT
Okay, maybe I need to watch this because I have so many questions. How long was she there to gain 140? And why go to Dr Now in the first place if you're not serious about losing weight and are just wasting everyone's time? I understand that food can be an addiction but at least a lot of the people on this show don't sabotage themselves like this. I mean, I'm pretty sure she was aware of what she was eating and gaining weight.
Another question to ask is who was monitoring her while in hospital? Why did it take her getting to 140lbs bigger on their watch before someone finally intervened?

Your last question was my main one! You gain ten pounds in a hospital and I want to know what is going on. And how did all of these food deliveries pass through all of the security? Do they not have security in Colorado? Or social workers that work in hospitals? No one noticed that a 900 woman was gaining even more weight? She gained another person amount of weight in the hospital. That is negligence.

What did they think would happen if they bashed Dr. Now? Idiots.
I'm always horrified and amazed at the sheer volume of what these people eat. She talked about how she was working so hard and eating so much less, all while a giant plate of fries and a burger are sitting there for her.
My mom and I are watching it right now, an hour before midnight. Call it a New Year's Resolution special! I have a piece of See's chocolate sitting here (my mom always gets a box from my dad for Christmas) and now I don't feel like eating it.

I can’t believe she ate that whole carrot cake. Or order all that food after she got out of the hospital and ask her daughter and friend what they want.
Was surprised with the weight loss she had. No way that is staying off. I think her poor daughter is going to fall in step with her which is sad.
This one just wanted the attention that’s for sure. How does she make money now if not eating a whole cake.

No way that is staying off. I think her poor daughter is going to fall in step with her which is sad. This one just wanted the attention that’s for sure. How does she make money now if not eating a whole cake. The fact that she and her daughter think the webcam eating stuff is about her being attractive to men is pretty delusional. Men who find feeding sexually gratifying aren't doing it because of the woman in question - it's about the process. The ones who actually have a partner who they feed will feed her until she's immobile and often move onto another victim. While some find the body attractive, many are just turned on by the process. It's really twisted.
Her daughter visibly gained weight over the course of the episode. I just can't understand how you could watch a parent who's super obese and then do the same thing to yourself.
ITA - there's no way she'll keep the weight off. She literally has her happiness and her LIFE tied to food. How sad was it when she talked about food being the only thing that made her happy?
I was shocked at Sam's weight and that she could still get around at all and then she said she's 6'2". If she was average height, she'd be bed-bound or dead. I think she might be the heaviest patient we've seen on the series.

I watched the whole episode last night and it was pretty decent. She had a couple of rough starts but they decided to make it a huge family affair and she finally lost enough weight to be able to get the surgery. I'm wishing nothing but the best for this family.

Yeah, Carrie was ahead of the curve in that she had a job and could get around on her own - things not often seen on this show. I couldn't see a huge difference on either of them but the scale doesn't lie. Hope they continue to get healthy.
Though that last scene of the family scarfing cheeseburgers in front of her while she was on the liquid diet was so, so wrong...
