I know it's not feasible to go back to when the episodes covered a longer period of time, but I do find these one year episodes frustrating. It's so rare that any of them get it together quickly enough for there to be real progress by the end of the two hours. Obviously, they couldn't go back to the original model of 7 years, but two years per person would at least show some progress! Even with the folks who finally do get with the program, they're often getting their WLS in the last few months of that year.
It seemed like Bianca was finally getting herself together and then the episode was over. I hope she's one of the people they'll pick for a follow-up episode.

If you made the People of Walmart website into a TV show, last night's episode would have been it. That was almost Assanti level insanity. I need to find some of those zero calorie tortillas, too...

I need to find some of those zero calorie tortillas, too... I watched about 45 minutes and got a sneaking suspicion about where things were going. I checked out the TLC FB page, read some posts and then turned off the episode. I just don't need to give that crap airtime in my life.

Well, last night was a waste of time. That guy in no way will be on the program. He thought just by saying those magic words he is not only on it but the weight will drop off. Cheat days? He ate enough in one meal to feed a small family! And his mother seemed to really be trying to help him. She even tossed his "good" food. And he wonders why they wouldn't move to Houston? Cause if he is going to fail, why uproot your lives, just stay at home!

Cause if he is going to fail, why uproot your lives, just stay at home! I’m watching now and you’re 100% right - total waste of time. I’ve got it on while I’m doing chores around the house, so at least I’m getting something done. I wish they’d stop casting these people. He thinks the scale is broken? Why haven’t they sent him to a truck scale? He said he a) had a cheat day, but said that b) he was following the diet 90% of the time. Math is hard. Years ago, I knew a couple who was constantly dieting (they were not obese, just overweight). They’d eat healthily 6 days a week and then have a cheat day where they ate whatever they wanted…. and erase any progress they’d made in the preceding 6 days. They could never understand why they weren’t losing. I didn’t say anything. I’m sure they didn’t want to hear it.

I watched the entire thing. I was smdh. He's 31-32...no one wants to help him move. What did you do in that year to deserve help...nothing! You want to move then hire people to help you. Stop making excuses! Your friend is sick...so you need to eat..the scale is wrong..blah blah blah. You know you are below 500 pounds. That would have meant you had to of lost 250 pounds...while you sat there devouring 2 cheesesteaks, fries, wings & cheese curds with a side of ranch dressing!

I turned it off during the preview where he was in a car or something saying "Ho-hum....so hungry." Something about how he said that let me know that I would not be living my life the best way possible if I continued to watch, so I didn't.

If I hadn't been cleaning the house at the same time, I definitely wouldn't have bothered to watch. He was the king of delusion. How can you think you've lost over 100 lbs? I don't think he lost ANY weight. That cheese steak and wings dinner was enough for at least 3 people. Three people having a cheat day.
He used ever excuse in the book. He couldn't exercise because it was cold outside and there was ice on the ground. So, walk around your house! There was a guy on another site a few years back who started losing weight (and he was every bit as big as the folks on this show - probably bigger) by literally sitting in his big chair and flailing about and by walking back and forth in the hallway of his house.
Dr. Now always shows so much restraint in dealing with these folks when you KNOW that he knows they're full of crap and lying through their teeth.
We know that Dr. Now gives the participants a copy of his book, but I wonder if he mails it to the ones who can't get the Houston right away. I haven't seen the book, but I'd guess that it includes lists of foods they can eat. Why do so many of them act like they can only eat bland food? Buy some spices, people! Have they never even heard of rosemary? Basil? Garlic? There are so many seasonings that aren't salt!
Pretty much all of these people have smartphones. Why aren't any of them just googling for healthy recipes? I mean, maybe they are and we're not seeing it, but if they HAD done it, they wouldn't all be whining about how they don't know what to eat. OR eating crap they're not supposed to eat.

I get healthy take out meals from a place near my house. The woman who owns it and the cooks there spice up the food really well so you don't feel like it is rabbit food. One of my favorite meals is lemon pepper roasted chicken breast and fresh green beans. Yes, you need to add a bit of flair and flavor and it can still be healthy. She also makes these yummy cauliflower and brown rice crust fresh pizzas. No meat toppings, not to much cheese but all the veggies you want. Even my skeptic of a husband loved it!

Yeah, I don't know why they even showed that fool this week, he never even left Montana. Hell, he barely peeled his behind up off of that chair. No effort, lots of excuses and BS. I question whether that "very sick friend" even existed or if he made it up as another excuse.
Someone with a BMI in the triple digits who thinks salt and butter are the only seasonings that exist does NOT need cheat days.
I sadly don't think he'll live very long at the rate he's going.

Someone mentioned that his "friend" changed gender at various points when he talked about them. I am sure they did not exist. I don't hold out much hope for him either. It seems he has gone dark on social media and no one seems to know anything about where he is or how he is doing.

The thing is, you don't end up on this show or at that weight without being a bit of a b.s. artist, both with yourself and with other people. The problem is that the scale doesn't care. It tells the truth even when you don't. They all seem to think that they can lie their way out of the situation and everyone will believe them. They think their nonsense will work on Dr. Now.....in spite of the fact that it has never worked in the entire history of this series. It's a bigger version of lying to your dentist about flossing. The dentist knows you aren't flossing AND you're only hurting yourself!
Have you guys been watching Too Large? I think it comes on after this show. There have been maybe 5 episodes and it's similar to this show, but with a different doctor. I think it's the same doctor from the 100 lb Sisters - Dr. Proctor. I was watching an episode the other day and the woman died. She got an infection in her leg, went septic and died. In spite of the fact that the doctors pretty much tell all of them they could die soon, they all seem to think that it will never happen to them. This woman was, IIRC, in her 40s.

They are all full of bull. Very few have did what they are supposed to do to get the weight off and keep it off. 1000 lb sisters, well Tammy is plain lazy and and is never going to give up food and change. Her whining gets on my nerves. Amy wouldn't have to have anyone come in and declutter her house if she would get off her dead butt and do it herself. I have yet to figure out how they get followers to show up for their hoopla meet and greet. Tammy is so large her face is one mass of fat.

Maybe they're trying to make a point about how hard it is to lose weight and keep it off, but I think they could certainly find people more willing to make the necessary changes. There have been people on this show who've struggled - most of them have - but my issue is with the ones who don't seem to even try. My other issue is the ones who are so nasty to Dr. Now. IMO, if you are rude to him, you get booted off the show. The end.
IIRC, Tammy was in the hospital in very bad shape a few years ago, before the series, and almost died. It's sad, but if I see that she's died, I won't be surprised. Bodies aren't meant to carry that much weight. I think the best thing, at least for Amy, is to just let Tammy go and stop doing everything for her. She's a mom now and she needs to focus on that.
There are so many great seasonings and spices/herbs that you can use the flavor food that add zero calories. These people could check out the multiple spice companies online and order a sample box. Heck, even Schilling has good stuff, if that's all you have access to.

It is hard to lose weight and keep it off. I know first hand and it is a struggle all the time to at least maintain a manageable weight. My issues are with those who don't even try and then blame someone else. I totally agree with you on Amy taking care of her and her family and letting Tammy become responsible for herself. Their brother and other sister are always trying to help Tammy but she doesn't listen to them either. I agree bodies aren't meant to carry that much weight. I agree too about seasonings. There are so many ways to add flavor to foods with out all the added fats. The biggest issue these people have is with portion control. You simply can't eat for 10 people in one meal.

I'm so glad I checked this thread! I didn't realize there was a new episode last week. That was such a refreshing change from the usual whining and blaming everyone else. Lucas didn't do everything perfectly, but he definitely did SO much better than anyone we've seen in recent episodes. I was shocked when he got his surgery an HOUR into the episode! It seems like lately, that doesn't happen until the last 15 minutes of the episode.
I really hope they do a follow-up episode with him. I have high hopes for him!
I think his background in sports really helped him, as did his mindset of seeing Dr. Now as his coach. I thought his trainer was excellent too.

After Lucas last week who worked so hard, we had this mess of Margaret and her mother Millie. Millie reminded me of Sean's mother who wanted to keep her child a dependent baby. And Margaret was a lot like Sean that she didn't seem to be able to do a thing with out her mother. And let's talk about showing her hooha to Dr. Paradise as if it was no big deal. Ugh!

Poor Dr. Paradise, the physical therapy workers, the dogs, her mom... everyone got to see Margaret spread eagled, naked, on that rank ass bed. I won't get into the pee pads or her peeing on the sidewalk outside the office. This episode was a complete mess. Even though she got her surgery, I'd bet good money it won't "take".
