After Lucas last week who worked so hard, we had this mess of Margaret and her mother Millie. Millie reminded me of Sean's mother who wanted to keep her child a dependent baby. And Margaret was a lot like Sean that she didn't seem to be able to do a thing with out her mother. And let's talk about showing her hooha to Dr. Paradise as if it was no big deal. Ugh! Poor Dr. Paradise, the physical therapy workers, the dogs, her mom... everyone got to see Margaret spread eagled, naked, on that rank ass bed. I won't get into the pee pads or her peeing on the sidewalk outside the office. This episode was a complete mess. Even though she got her surgery, I'd bet good money it won't "take". I missed her peeing on the sidewalk. So glad I did not watch all of it.

I read an extremely informative article in The NY Times this morning about how the body basically booby-traps certain obese people which may shed light on why it is so hard for a lot of these people to lose weight and even more importantly, how to keep it off. I'm leaving the link for those who have a subscription because it's really too long to copy and paste here, or hopefully some of you can get past the paywall. It's not an excuse NOT to try to lose weight and definitely not an excuse to be mean to Dr. Now, but the deck is definitely stacked against you the longer you are obese. www.nytimes.com/2012/01/01/magazine/tara-parker-pope-fat-trap.htmlAlso, pissing on the sidewalk in broad daylight like a cat is just nasty. I'm sure she could use toilets.

Well, that was a waste of time. And here was someone who's partner wasn't an enabler and was really willing to help with the program. She read the materials before he did! AS soon as I saw him sit down to that pastry and that frapaccino, I know it was over.

Agreed. Last night's guy ended up weighing more than he did at the start, and sitting down to a caramel frappe and cinnamon roll at the end was just ridiculous. He never even tried, just grinned and clowned around the whole time. His wife/girlfriend was the only one taking it seriously.
We'll get an update on him in the future, and it won't be a good one.

Yes, I think we will. He never took it seriously! There used to be a church service on our local cable channel and there was a pastor on there, Reverend Butts (yes), who was that size. I kept saying he is not long for this earth and he wasn't. He was the first person I thought of last night.

Another s--- show last night. Wow! This beat Margaret! If anyone watched it, what the heck was up with that house they were going to rent a room from? Places like that need to be condemned! I would rather live in my car.
Her mother seemed to be the only sane person there besides Dr. Now.

Wait, this beat the peeing lady? I have to watch, but is it a good trainwreck or someone being disrespectful to Dr. Now?

Wait, this beat the peeing lady? I have to watch, but is it a good trainwreck or someone being disrespectful to Dr. Now? No just delusional with Dr Now. Dolly is something else. That house they moved into had a bra hanging of the front post….then she thought she was going to go through the floor going in the front door so they went around back. She sure ate a lot of cheese, how did her mother lose weight with that portion she gave her. Feel for the poor little girl.

It wasn't quite on the peeing level and she wasn't disrespectful of Dr. Now, just delusional. I saw someone mention the house who had watched it earlier on Discovery+ but nothing prepared me for what I saw I think the reason they were kicked out of the house is because the last thing the people living in this should be condemned drug house is a camera crew!

She really was so delusional! OMG! She thought each time she went to Dr. Now he would approve her for surgery. In what, a year she lost about 40 pounds and was so proud of herself. LOL she thought she was a grown up because she could do laundry at the laundromat.
I felt so sad for her daughter. She is overweight at 3-1/2. They better change their eating habits or she will be following in her mother's footsteps.
Dolly's friend could have followed the exercise and diet program alongside Dolly and both could have encouraged each other...but no!

Dolly was an absolute trainwreck. Refused to listen to her mom, refused to follow the diet or do any meaningful exercise - globs of cheese on her "healthy" veggies and Cocoa Krispies are NOT diet food, and flapping your arms around a couple times a week is NOT exercise. Then she went running after her abusive ex, who was married to someone else yet Dolly moved in with them in some kind of weird Sister Wives crossover (?!). It didn't last long. We came back from commercial and *bam* she was living with some dude she met at the homeless shelter in a hotel paid for by his disability check. Then they went to move into that decrepit trap house and got kicked out the same day. I don't even know what was going on there. The only thing that girl ever changed was her hair color. I don't see her succeeding without a whole lot of therapy and some growing up.

another waste of time. Rotting legs, no intention to follow any diet plan and treating her enabler like a slave.

Lisa was an absolutely vile human being. I felt so bad for Randy when he was sitting there in clearly obvious heart distress and she just sat there prattling away! And when she sent him shopping and dictated to him from her bed, the cart was full of junk food!! I can only imagine the stench in that house from her.

Lisa was absolutely hideous. Cussing at the poor nutritionist, the PT lady, even Dr. Now...all to quit at the end. Two hours of show and she never once peeled her sorry rump off that bed. Poor Randy. The man was in obvious distress, told her that he felt bad, and she was too busy griping about the taste of the cheeseburger she was inhaling. He spent his last months holding that nasty creature's bedpan and catering to her.

I've read that season 11 will start February 1st next year. All new people to get irritated with! Every time I see a new post in this thread, I think, "Uh-oh. Who died?"
The show seems to continue to pick people who provide drama, but don't actually DO anything. We'll see how long I last with this new season. I know it's not easy to lose that much weight, but it would be nice if they picked people who didn't think they knew more than the medical experts AND who had no intention of following medical advice.

They throw in an occasional person who honestly wants change and puts in the work, but yeah. Most of them just refuse to do right.

There are a lot, sadly. But it's not really surprising considering how bad off most of them are when they first see Dr. Now.

I don't have a lot of patience for some of these episodes, and I always want to know (sooner, rather than later) how things turned out, so now I find myself only watching the "Where Are They Now" episodes. At least that way, within 2 hours we get to see how it all started, and the person's journey, and how they fared! And we don't have to wait a bunch of weeks to find out what happened to them. (And isn't it great when they can beat their demons, and lose the weight, and go on to have much better lives!)

I much preferred that first season, where they followed each person for 7 years. You got so much more of their story that way. Obviously, that's not practical any more, but I agree that the Where Are They Now? episodes are often more satisfying.
I'm fully prepared to be annoyed by pretty much every person this season. As usual

What I don't like about this show is there's a lot of people who think obese people are slovenly, dirty, and lazy and they tend to cast people who fit that stereotype. I remember watching the episode with the costume designer and it was a change from the usual because she actually had a job, was mobile, and was always nicely dressed. There was another young lady (can't remember her name) that was the same. Unfortunately, the bulk of the time they show people with crap on their sheets because they can't be bothered to wipe, peeing outside like cats, and living in filth, and that's even before you get to the people who are nasty to Dr. Now. I also wonder what the ratio of people getting casted who actually want to get the help vs the ones who just want to get some money/be on TV. I hope this season is better.

Two success stories in one episode? Something's wrong. I do wish they'd follow them for longer, we didn't get to see much after they both had surgery. They did seem to be on the right track, though.

I was surprised that there was 2 surgeries with 10 mins to go. Maybe Dr Now just wanted to show off his new robot….lol Surprised that at almost 700 pounds he was still mobile. Mind you watching him get in and out of cars looked painful. His breathing was really bad too.
