Well that was an unpleasant episode - what a waste of time Bethany was. Made the kids bring her everything, ignored Dr. Now's advice, had excuses for everything (the surgery didn't work! I thought it would be easier!), and said therapy was useless when she used to be an addiction counselor! And this is why the lying sack of crap lost her license:

Her poor kids. Her youngest is learning poor eating habits and I pray she doesn't go the same route as her mom. Her husband looked like an empty shell of a man.

So not only was she a waste of space as far as Dr. Now's program is concerned, she's also a terrible person? That tracks.

I knew last night's episode was going to be a hot mess when they started out showing JT using his huge lymphedema as a dining table. Just park that pizza box right on top! Ugh. I was absolutely amazed that he was mobile, considering that he was just shy of 900 lbs. From his shoulders up, you'd never know he was that big.
But even after he was an ass to Dr. Now in the beginning and his girlfriend left him (you could tell she'd been checked out for a while), he finally lost a good chunk of weight and got his surgery. I wish they'd shown the lymphedema removal, though, I was dying to know how much that thing weighed!

He had one of the thinner looking faces I have seen on this show.

What was the deal with that girlfriend!? She's literally driven him to the hospital because he's afraid he might be dying, but when they pull up to the hospital and someone asks if they need help, she says "no." WTF!? Is she on meds or something? There was almost zero emotion from her the entire time. Even when she cried, her face showed no emotion. It was weird. I kept waiting for someone to buy him a new pair of shorts and a few new t-shirts. The first whole hour of the episode was him in those "shorts" that were more hole than fabric. I kept hoping they'd hold together on camera. At least he got new clothes once he lost a little weight. ITA waywyrd - I really wish we'd seen him get that lymphedema tumor removed. I hope we get an update episode with him. I think it will make a HUGE difference for him. Totally curious how much that thing weighs. It was pretty horrifying.

I had a strange feeling that he had so emotionally bullied Jessica that she was just going through the motions. I don't think SHE didn't want help to get him out of the vehicle - I suspect HE didn't want to appear to need help. Why wouldn't he use one of those specially made wheelchairs for morbidly obese people? Or had he tried to do that and knew that he wouldn't even fit into one of those, so he "walked" rather than admitting he should have had a gurney to get him into the ER. She did say something about the reason she kept giving him so much food was that he would get really mean if she didn't. Reminded me of James K . . . and I will never understand why a woman in that situation wouldn't just walk away. How desperate must they be for a man . . . even a man who can't perform as a man, and who abuses them. As far as the clothes, he said himself that he only had one pair of shorts that would accommodate his lymphedema, but that pair was past covering up ANY of his tumor or his backside. And he'd put those same dirty clothes back on after his WEEKLY shower. Yuck. Although he didn't appear to be using a computer or even a tablet, why did someone (Jessica?) not know how to get on craigslist or Facebook to find someone who could custom make him a couple of pairs of shorts? He reminded me of a wild animal; he lived ONLY to eat, and cared about nothing (or anyone) else.

Abusers rarely start that way; they tend to be very charming...until they get you hooked, then the REAL nasty side comes out. Also, a lot of people don't see emotional abuse as being as insidious as physical when in fact it's worse because it sticks to you longer.

OMG, did I wish I could reach through the TV and smack Gina upside the head! Have we ever seen anyone get (and blow) this many chances with Dr. Now? If I was Beth, I would get that out of that marriage and get on with my life! Gina is never going to change and she's just going to drag Beth down with her.

I couldn't believe he kept giving her more "last chances." I was over Gina when she screamed at poor Beth on the phone because Beth wanted to come home from work and cook for everyone instead of grabbing fast food crap. Then Gina's mother telling her that Gina doesn't deserve to be treated that way?! WTF. She wasn't a wife, she was a servant. Oh, and when your family has to MAKE you wash because you stink so bad? You're just nasty. And lazy. No way does she succeed long term.

Though it looked like everyone needed to lose weight. Even Amy on 1000 sisters was able to lose the weight she needed to for surgery. Hope she goes through with it. I kind of like her.

I turned it off because her food is more important than her health. Beth needs to get out. Why would she want her and be her slave. The mother could barely get around.

Most drs. make them lose more than 25 lbs. Both of those girls are going to have to make serious life style changes. Tammy is to dependent on Amy. I think Amy is funny but Tammy is a whiner most of the time. Truthfully Tammy could have lost a 100 lbs had she stopped eating the wrong food. Amy should have lost more than she did.

Everyone was seriously over-weight. It always shocks me on what the people on the show eat and what they think is healthy. Ranch dressing on salads with processed cheddar cheese is not the best for you. And what were they putting sour cream on? Nothing that is healthy and on a weight loss diet needs sour cream.

I understand people making mistakes with some food items. We have all been shocked to find out the healthy option really isn't, but you don't need to be a rocket scientist to know a cup of sour cream or ranch and a cup of cheese is not good! I don't deny myself but you need to keep portion control in mind. Instead of that cup of cheese sprinkle a couple of teaspoons..... add more veggies.....

She had quite the stash in the fridge - chocolate milk, sour cream, mayo (but it's light mayo!), about a ton of cheese...and I think I saw peanut butter in the door. Who knows what else. NONE of that is on Dr. Now's diet. She just wanted to give a half-assed effort and look all surprised when she didn't lose anything. "But I tried soooo hard!"

I just want to know who actually puts ranch dressing on spaghetti besides Travis? YUCK. But he seemed like a nice guy, if a bit lazy at first. I loved when his wife had the grocery store meltdown after she realized that she was making his problem worse by getting him what he wanted and not what he needed. That has never happened on this show before that I can remember. She was awesome, and I'm glad he finally got with it and got his surgery. Since this episode was so light on drama and whining, we'll probably get a bad one next week.

He really was a nice guy and I liked them as a couple. I liked that when Dr. Now asked him how he got that way, there were no excuses, he said he ate a lot. His drama was pretty light, he had a wonderful family, the house was clean, he wore actual clothes, he worked hard, admitted to his mistakes.... I agree, next week we will probably get someone awful.

UGH. Yet another waste of time for Dr. Now and two hours for the rest of us! Did you see that breakfast!? THREE big containers of food. That brick of lasagna she ate had to weigh at least 2 pounds. She weighed that much and was only 4'11"? How to you let things get that out of control? Her poor friend/caregiver. I hope she's getting a lot of money (although probably not).

Joyce was a lazy, lying waste of two hours. I was trying to root for her until she started in on Dr. Now, calling him abusive for wanting her to get off her ass and walk, saying that the program was flawed, the scale was broken (twice)...she did understand that it was 1200 calories a DAY, not per meal? Squawking for medical transport every five minutes wore on my nerves, too. And the fake Fred Sanford heart attack ploy to get a ride? Ugh. I hate to question sexual abuse claims, but with her...I don't know if I really believe her. She quickly proved that she can't follow the diet at home, so I expect her to follow her dad's path and die of a heart attack. It's just sad that people won't help themselves when given the opportunity.

I really wanted Dr. Now to send a nutritionist to Joyce to give her a demo of serving sizes. Yes, egg whites with peppers and some sausage can be lower in calories (especially if it's turkey or chicken sausage), but she was eating at least 3 servings of it. That plate was piled high. It was at least 6 egg whites and a few yolks (based on the one yolk left in the bowl in the kitchen). You can still gain weight eating healthy foods!
Amazing how, once she went home from the hospital, Dr. Now's scale just didn't work.
How do you gain TEN pounds a week and not be aware that you're eating too much? Feels like willful ignorance to me.
She was over 700 lbs at 4'11". Is that the highest BMI we've seen? I won't be surprised when we hear that she's passed. I'm only shocked her body hasn't given out yet.

But hey, Joyce was "cooking" that mega omelet right next to her porta-potty, so...yeah. Someone on Twitter last night said her BMI was Earth and I spit my tea out.

Yes always calling for a ride drove me crazy too. Her blaming her mom for the thing was weird too because her mom wanted to lose weight so she had to move out.
Than at the end she said she read if she moved more she could lose weight....what who doesn’t know that. Through the whole show I kept saying get up and walk. They brought everything to her. The fake heart attack was weird too, Dr know didn’t even check her heart.
