She definitely didn't have much (any?) training in caregiving. Did you notice she wasn't wearing gloves when she was helping Joyce bathe and put on that cream stuff? Then she handled food My husband walked by as she was elbow-deep in one of those sweaty folds and yelled "Why isn't she wearing gloves?!" All kinds of ew. But hey, Joyce was "cooking" that mega omelet right next to her porta-potty, so...yeah. Someone on Twitter last night said her BMI was Earth and I spit my tea out. OMG, it's mean but this took me out!

I have no complaints about Carlton and Shantel this week. They were both on reddit answering questions (Carlton has quite the sense of humor), sounds like they're both still in Houston and doing well. He's still with Monica, too. We really need better education about portion size and healthy eating in this country. So many people just don't seem to know.

Pizza and more pizza with a side of pizza rolls, anyone? Pizza Hut should just sponsor this show. Another waste of everyone's time last night, Seana constantly "lost" the diet papers Dr. Now gave her. She lost more weight in paper than she did from the diet. And I don't know if it was her previous meth use or if she had a learning impairment, but she looked vacant and unmotivated most of the time. Just...not quite all there. With her mom seemingly giving up on her and no friends or relatives for support, I don't see anything good happening...

With her mom seemingly giving up on her and no friends or relatives for support, I don't see anything good happening... Talk about a HUGE waste of space AND of two hours. I don't think we've seen anyone quite so addicted to just constantly eating. That drive to Houston was fueled my fast food. It was like she was a child being bribed by her mother to behave. The ONLY way she could handle the ride was if her mom kept that conveyor belt of food moving.
The pizza rolls and hash browns...and then a large stuffed crust pizza with that cinnamon horror....and she was still "starving." Honey, you're so far from starving that you'd need the Hubble telescope to see it.
Seana is just a big child. Totally immature and completely incapable of any adult behavior. How do you lose paperwork three (four?) times? And why would she not, within a few minutes of realizing she'd lost the paperwork the first time, just call the doctor's office and explain the situation and ask them to email the document? Did she think the doctor would be less annoyed with her if she waited TWO months to admit she'd lost it? No one would have cared if she'd called a few days after the appointment and asked for another copy.
It's terrible that she suffered abuse from her father, but she's an adult now and she needs to figure out how to move on and live her life. Whatever therapy she was getting is not nearly enough. Yes, her mother is to blame too, but there's only so much she can do. Funding Seana's life and behavior isn't helping her. I don't think she thought Dr. Now would cut her loose, but how many chances was he going to give her?
I'm so tired of wasting time watching these people who don't seem to have any real interest in saving their own lives. It's especially frustrating when you KNOW there have to be so many people out there who would take that opportunity and really run with it.
ITA, this isn't going to end well....

and what a mess after the previous episode where the siblings did so well despite an initial failure. They had hope for the future, plans and dreams.

Ashley B from last night - another disappointment. She seemed more interested in doing her makeup than doing anything with her kids. I hate that the older girl had to take care of the baby, that's just not fair. But hey, at least she dressed well. Looking at the pasta and cheesecake she was scarfing at the end of the show, I have no hope that she'll succeed, though. Her sister tried her best to help, but Ashley is too quick to blame everything and everyone else for her eating. I should have just changed the channel when she poured syrup over dry toast and shoved the whole thing into her mouth. Gawd.

I have to admit, the plate of eggs she had looked good, but I'm a scrambled egg fiend. Sadly, I don't think she will make it and will probably be bed bound soon at this rate. Her poor kids.

I looked really hard and could not find the source of ANY stress in Ashley's life. Her older child took care of the younger child. Her biggest fear was not having her false eyelashes attached evenly.
Suspicions of her being a Feeder Porn Queen popped into my head. Her stress came from realizing that her income was derived from doing the very thing that would keep her from her surgery.
And everything was "I, me, my" . . . MY stress, MY surgery, etc., etc., etc. Waste of space and eyelash glue.

The older daughter was only 11. Hasn't even had a chance to be a teenager yet. I think their interaction was indicative of how close they are: "I'm leaving for school. Bye." (No hug, no kiss, no eye contact.) "I'm home." "Okay . . . how was school?" "Fine." Mama had no eye contact with anything that wasn't on a plate.

DO these people apply for this show? How are they chosen? Just a waste of airtime. I have stopped watching for the most part none of them help themselves. When you eat for 4-5 people at every meal what do they think is going to happen, excessive weight gain.
I work at a retail store and the other day we had a lady come in with a motorized scooter and she was huge, her scooter was wide load size not the normal scooter size and it was all she could do to maneuver it around our clothes racks. Sometimes when they are on their scooters they end up having to move the racks.I was thinking this lady needs to go see Dr. Now. I know not a nice thought. She was shopping with her daughter because we don't carry clothes her size.
I am overweight but I stay on top of it so I don't get bigger than what I am. My metabolism isn't good so I struggle but I am smart enough to know if I don't stay on top of it I will be much larger than what I am.

I think the producers believe people watch for the train wrecks, but I don't think that's true. Speaking for myself, I'm about done with this show. I'm tired of giving two hours of my life to watching these petulant, immature wastes of space. It's especially frustrating knowing that there are so many people out there who would jump at the opportunities that these jerks just throw away.

I know people's chances of success are so low, so its okay to see an occasional failure, but some of these failures have been epic. I want to see people who really do try. Instead of half the show with them being naked or stuffing themselves, I want to see the real journey, maybe see them learning how to prepare healthy meals, going to the gym.... getting their surgery, even with a few setbacks, and transforming.

I don't mind an occasional Steven Assanti thrown in the mix - the King of Trainwrecks - but I would rather see people who actually try to better themselves. Lately there have been so many who put in little to no effort and expect miracles. This is the real world, people, you don't get a trophy just for showing up.

And as THE LEARNING CHANNEL should actually BE (a place for LEARNING), perhaps others who are struggling with their weight could learn some info on portion size, calorie counting, etc., etc., etc.
All we've "learned" much of this season is how to whine, make excuses and - this week - how to apply false eyelashes flawlessly.

As I posted elsewhere The moment Pauline said the famous words about cleaning her own v----- and later the Assanti brothers showed up, this show become less informative and more exploitative and circus. Same thing that happened to 90 Day Fiance. Now its let see the train wrecks. We all contributed to it by watching it and there is nothing wrong with a guilty pleasure, but after awhile it gets old. I think of a particular cooking show that had people being really awful to each other. It got old for me. Especially when I started watching Great British Bake Off and saw people can be nice and things still can be interesting and compelling even. This show went from learning and growing to "how low can you go?" Weeping lymphademas? Got 'em! Hoo has not covered? Got 'em! Roaches, feces...... got 'em all!

I'm okay with the trainwrecks, at least on occasion. My issue is with the ones who refuse to follow the diet and do what they've been told to do and then refuse to take ANY responsibility for their weight gain or lack of weight loss. They blame everyone else and lash out at Dr. Now. THOSE are the ones I'm tired of. Of course it's hard and their chances for success aren't great. I just hate watching the ones who are given this opportunity and then do NOTHING with it....and then cry and blame everyone else.
I'm sick to death of hearing about how Dr. Now just doesn't understand how hard it is. We hear it in every single episode.

My gosh a once in a lifetime chance to get your life back on track and then squander it because you can't give up the wrong type of food. Sad to say most of the ones that are on this show seem to be poverty level people with a poverty level mentality. They can't rise above their raising.

Another thing to keep in mind that a lot of these people have some sort of issue that they are dealing with, whether it's physical, mental, or emotional issues in the past. Food is more than just eating; it's literally comfort, and fills a hole. It's a feeling most of us can't relate to since while most of us "like" what we eat, but we aren't eating for comfort. It's kinda like throwing things in a deep well; as long as the size of the well stays the same the items are just going to get sucked in there. There's a reason why Dr Now sends a lot of these people to therapy which is also scary because it forces you to confront your demons. So as irritating some of these people are I also pity a lot of them. Change can be very hard for some people.

IMO, every single one of these people should also have to start going to therapy before they get approved for surgery.

The Bethany B episode was on today and I watched some of it. I have to admit that unlike a lot of people on this show she had some great outfits and looked like she cared about her appearance. That black skirt she had with the colorblocked embroidery panel in front was cute as hell and I want it.

I'm still in the first hour of this week's episode, but it's not looking great. Tommy's gf isn't that far behind him weight-wise. She's got to be at least 400 lbs. I did love when she yanked that pizza out of his hand and tossed it in the trash!
ETA:
Dr. Lola: What was your childhood like? Tommy: Oh, pretty normal I guess.
Then describes a childhood where NOTHING was normal. That was really sad.

I wasn't a big fan of his girlfriend and her gleeful tattle tale stuff in Dr. Now's office, but I was rolling when she snatched that pizza away from him. Also - there's no way she's only 320 lbs. Dr. Now should have told her to hop on the scale, too. I didn't have much hope for Tommy after watching him eat those four cans of cold Chef Boyardee (seriously, the microwave was right behind him!) and a chocolate cake, but he did pretty well by the end. He looked like he weighed less than his girlfriend, honestly. Sort of shocked that Dr. Now brought up his disability benefits...

I do give her credit, she made him do things.... she made him cook for himself and clean. Now if only she would get on board. I don't think Dr. Now has ever mentioned disability. I have to admit, I was surprised by that.

Coliesa's backstory last night was probably one of the worst I've seen on this show. Mom died, abusive dad, foster care, molested by a cousin, fights with dad's new 16 year old wife (?!) and is sent off to her grand-uncle, who rapes her. Oh, she also had a heart attack and lost her fiance in a car wreck. Damn!
That said, I just didn't like her a whole lot. I don't know if it was the childish overacting when her niece made her try a piece of asparagus or the eating so much that she threw up in her poop bucket (and went right back to eating), but...meh.
I saw something on reddit that she is currently in a medically-induced coma from sepsis caused by a ripped suture, but I can't find anything to link to.

I saw something on reddit that she is currently in a medically-induced coma from sepsis caused by a ripped suture, but I can't find anything to link to. She's out of the coma and back to posting on Facebook. It's hard to figure out WHEN all this happened, as her FB shows the date as February. Doesn't fit with a filming schedule of showing the episode this month, so MAYBE the ripped suture and sleeve surgery were last February? She also reports having had a hiatal hernia repair done . . . maybe that was more recent and caused the complications.
