I have never even heard of cookie pudding, and I love sweets/desserts. Sorry it is actually called cookie salad. It is a legit dish you might see at potlucks in the midwest. What it is is pudding with fudge striped shortbread cookies stuck into it. I had to look up a few recipes for that, doesn't sound too bad! Kind of like a parfait? We're all about banana pudding down here, which I guess could also be called a cookie pudding since it has Nilla wafers in it.

No doubt I would probably like it, but it just doesn't seem like something that should be on the show.

I lived in the Midwest all my life and have never seen or eaten this lol.
I'm really enjoying Tourament of Champions this time around. I read and article and it said this year not only did they expand to 32 chefs they had to turn chefs away who wanted to do it. This has turned into quite a prestige cooking show like Top Chef. I have to admit I side eyed "Sweet T" getting a relatively easy randomizer and winning her bracket because she's one of Guy's favorites but I suppose I shouldn't say that because the actual judging is blind.

I love the looks on the contestant faces when the judges are introduced. Jaws hit floor most every time. Yes, they have out-done themselves this year. That time when Eric Riper (sp) was tasting and made a sarcastic comment to Justin who said, "Because you're Eric Riper," I laughed out loud.

I've always liked Eric Ripert and hope he's doing better these days. I think he took some time off because Anthony Bourdain was his best friend and....he found him.

Spring Baking! I was ready to throw a shoe at my tv every time Molly shrieked "cookie salad"!
I could see that Diego and Justin are really over it.

Watched this afternoon and no, we never ate that hot mess known as cookie salad!
Loved the final project of huge edible Easter Baskets on the Easter Challenge. The Winner truly deserved it all because they have been extremely consistent throughout the competition.

I wonder if I'm the only one who likes Molly?
And I had never in my life heard oof cookie salad before, but honestly, with the right ingredients, I totally would eat one.

I was honestly kind of shocked when they sent that person home on SBC last night - I thought they'd be top three, at least.
And I was over Molly's squealing about COOKIE SALAD! about 20 minutes into the show. Not really a dessert that should be on a baking show, anyway.

I like Molly on her own show rembrant. I think part of the problem is that she really doesn't have a lot of experience hosting, and it shows. Another thing to keep in mind is that while people don't really like people (especially women) who don't smile (I used to feel some sort of way about Brooke Williamson, but it turns out she's just more serious by nature and is an excellent chef), they especially don't trust people who smile too much and Molly smiles a lot. I'm pretty sure some of it is nerves because at certain times it's not that she's smiling as much as she is baring her teeth. Hopefully she will get better with time.

I haven't watched this show but stumbled upon this thread today. It just so happens that the winner was featured in our local newspaper today. She and her husband own a bakery in my sister's town. My sister lives only a few towns away from me, so the next time I'm in her area I'm going to check out the winner's bakery. From the description in the paper, her Easter Basket creation sounded pretty amazing. They did feature a photo but it was kind of hard to see.

I thought she might improve, but Monday's episode was really bad. Not to mention the horrified look on Duff's face and some of the baker's faces as she introduced "cookie salad". Oh and we got sprinkles, which most of the bakers pretty much ignored. Dennis had the advantage and he got to know 30 minutes ahead of time about them. She whispered in his ear like it was some great secret "sprinkles". He didn't seem impressed with the advantage or the sprinkles and almost forgot about them.

If you get a chance to watch do so because her final Easter Basket creation was the amazing cherry on top of a good season. The talent level was really up this year among the contestants in general, and the other two contestants who made it to the finals were extremely happy for her.

I was very happy for Brittney (one of the finalist) because she really redeemed herself with this show. She was initially on the Halloween Baking Championships a couple of years ago and didn't do too hot but was wonderful on this.

OK, all the whack desserts on SBC makes sense now because apparently Molly had a BIG say in what the contestants are making this season. This week's episode had them making "breakfast pastries" for the preheat. For the main heat they had pictures that Molly had taken of her hometown that they had to reproduce on their cakes...but only decorating using a palette knife. And if that wasn't hard enough, the backs of each picture had an ~unexpected ingredient~ that they had to use. Ingredients ranged from good stuff like black sesame and labneh to stuff like jalepeno, sauerkraut, and tomato. I'm still watching but I think the person who got the jalepeno is screwed; I'm still watching this hot mess and will report back on whether or not he got the gate.
edit: A lot of these cakes look like an Impasto nightmare, lol. Damn at who went home though.

I didn't mind the breakfast challenge because it did involve baking but palette knife decorating? I guess they had to liven it up. I have seen people make cake withe tomato soup and kraut so that didn't really bother me, but I think all of them should have gotten something real challenging.

Again, kind of surprised at who they sent home last night. He DID seem over it, though. I sure wish I could taste those biscuits Tom made that had every judge's eyes rolled back in their heads. Must have been fantastic.

So glad Tobias made it to the finals in Tourament of Champions! Not so thrilled about Tiffany though, if I don't hear Guy call her Sweet T ever again I will be happy. And WTF at that horrible Randomizer Shirley Chung and Jet Tila got?

I thought her nickname was "sweet P" but the T (for Tiffany) makes more sense.
Yes, that was a horrible randomizer...but for Scott Conant to drop his fork in praise was something to see.

I'm fine with Tiffani -- her "villain" season of Top Chef was 15 years ago, and she's grown and mellowed a lot since then, and made a nice name for herself as a Chopped judge.
I'm not rooting hard for anyone this time, since Antonia went out early. I'm just glad Marcel went down (I still can't stand him lol). I wouldn't mind Brooke taking the belt a second time.
I wish Carla Hall would compete in this.

Tournament of Champions: Watched the final episode and Mmmhmmm. People online aren't coming out and saying it was rigged but an awful lot of people seem to be implying it. Personally, I think that person won fair and square because that last Randomizer was so terrible I'm surprised either chef could even think of something good to cook. It was also a win by 2 points.

Tonight is the finale of Spring Baking Championship and it looks "interesting" {Final Bakes} Molly's challenges are a kind of candy dessert and finally, back to the barn with baby animals! Any hope of an elegant cake is gone.

Just watched and this entire show is just devolving into the Molly Show with more farm content because eff a Spring, right?
The finals are next week. I have no idea why they decided to bring back someone during the semi-finals, or even what criteria was used to bring that person back. Every time something happens the camera automatically goes to Molly (as well as eating shots, standing by the bakers shots, and endless shots of her just standing and smiling). The judges have been almost sidelined on their own damn show because the camera only stays on them long enough to get a response about the food and then the camera immediately switches back to Molly. I'm not sure if it's been this way all season but it was particularly awful this week. And leaving the camera on the losing baker backstage as they cried over going home was really distasteful.
It's not just us who feel some kind of way about Molly. The vast majority of people over at Reddit and Food Network Gossip outright hate her on SBC, even the ones who like her on Girl Meets Farm. And as much as I hate to say this, if she is hosting SBC next year I don't think I'll be watching. They took a fun holiday show people loved and turned it into the baking version of Girl Meets Farm with no consideration of Spring, Spring holidays, the judges, or the viewers.
