HBC - I loved the "moldy" desserts. So gross. And the judges' costumes, whoever does them really comes up with some good stuff. Sad about Maricsa, I don't remember her messing anything up until last night. I was thinking she'd be top five, at least. The bottom two were my pick for the finals. I guess they are taking a page from GBBO and one bad bake and there you go. It wouldn't be fair to put someone in the bottom who did a good job either.

I have to admit, pairing up the bakers to make "Twin" cakes was a really good idea. Alexi and his partner impressed me by how little their cakes resembled each other and Stephanie and Zac knew exactly why; if you know the outside of your cakes have to match why wouldn't you both use the same type of buttercream? The color and texture was way off.

HBC: Loved the finale. Everyone was so good for the pre-heat that they let all four contestants go ahead to the final. The final was 3-tiered Black Gothic wedding cakes in different times (Roaring Twenties, Victorian, etc) That turned out divine; you really must see them. Overall, the Hotel was a good idea this year.

Next week the Holiday Baking Championship starts! I've read the bios of the contestants that will be competing and it's an interesting bunch.

I love them all but the holiday is my fave. And, watching the commercials, it looks like Jesse is back! I love John Henson in the Halloween version but that woman they had last spring was awful. They need to keep Jesse and John.

Not Jesse, but Jeff Mauro. I found this on the google list when I went searching, bu it is confusing because the new set is season 9:
People also ask
Who will host Holiday Baking Championship 2022? Holiday Wars
Host Jeff Mauro works alongside judges Shinmin Li and Aarti Sequeira as they lead a quest to find the ultimate baker this holiday season.2 days ago
Then again. there is this:
Who are the judges for Holiday Baking Championship this year? (Was this last year?)
Host Jesse Palmer gives the seven bakers advent calendars filled with different types of chocolate to inspire them to make desserts with a surprise inside. Then, for the main heat, the competitors must bake one delicious cheesecake with three different flavors for judges Nancy Fuller, Duff Goldman and Carla Hall.

The latter is correct, Arielflies. Jeff Mauro is the host of Holiday Wars. dagwood: That was Molly Yee, but I don't blame her as much as I do FN for making SBC an offshoot of her "Girl Meets Farm" show instead of just letting her host and the contestants do traditional Spring desserts. Instead we got farm food, sprinkles, and more sprinkles. I have to admit I enjoyed the Mardi Gras episode, but Mardi Gras isn't Spring.

Jeff Mauro is hosting Holiday Wars with Aarti and Shinmin. Jesse is hosting the Holiday Baking Championship and he will be back hosting the 2023 Spring Baking Championship. I still wish Lorraine would come back as a judge but looks like she’s not doing anything in the food field now.

Good, hopefully we can get back to spring baking and not farm bakes, sprinkles galore and cookie salads. I wonder if we can invite some of the contestants back, like Romy?

I don’t know why Jesse is back but he’s posted pics of him on set for both championships. Molly seems nice but she was way too enthusiastic for me. I saw her host that Ben and Jerry’s show and she was ok for me there so I don’t know what the difference was. And I couldn’t with cookie salads.

She just was not right for the show. You could tell the contestants weren't happy with her, either. Cookie salads and sprinkles were just too much. Plus, I will admit Jesse is pretty easy on the eyes.

Holiday Baking Championship:
I admit, I've been a little bored the past couple of years but this show is back with a vengeance, and part of the reason why is they actually got interesting and engaging people this time around. They've also tweaked the show a bit- I really enjoyed the fact that they paired them off in the main heat but had one person do cake and the other person make pie and had it be a competition on which was better. The group that won was also safe from elimination. I was pleased that the lady whose pie crust was busted remade it and was Star Baker, and the guy whose ginger snowflakes (part of the twist) spread out in the stove and were unusable was safe. Lots of early favorites including the British lady, the pastry chef who trained in Paris, and the blonde lady who was just happy to be there, lol. Overall, a good start.

That was a fun start! I like most of the contestants. And I do think the right person went home. They knew it would be them as that cake was just sad.

Yeah, as soon as I saw that sad cake covered in sprinkles, I knew she was gone. I think she knew, too. Good cast this year, the giggly blonde and the girl throwing puns back at Jesse were cracking me up.

Finally, someone who can throw Jesse "Dad Jokes" right back at him. That was so funny and she got the last word!

Aww, I'm sad about Sumera leaving. And why does the vegetarian always get the bacon twist?

I liked her a lot and will miss her.
I'm glad the vegan had a positive, can-do attitude about the bacon. Other vegetarians/vegans on the show have failed when given meat products to work with, and I think a lot of that has to do with attitude.
Loved the idea of creating pie flights!

I was surprised the French baker's last creation failed so badly - was it just the ice cream not holding up, the wrong meringue...? Such a shame, she was so good.
The young guy is really an excellent decorator, too. Some people are just naturals!

It was the ice cream melting and she also used a less stable meringue which caused it to slide off…she used Swiss and apparently Italian is the one to use as it is the hardest/most stable (as per Jessica and Aisha). She’d struggled in a few other challenges so I’m not surprised she went but I did like her. I think Hershel is my favourite though.

I recorded the Kids Baking Championship from Monday night, when they brought back 4 winners from earlier seasons or specials. One of the kids is a distant kinda-relative, so I was interested in seeing how she did this time. It was interesting to see them all now that they're older! I love follow-ups. Their yule logs, and meringue mushrooms actually turned out better than I thought they would, hahaha. I'd like to taste them! Those must be very difficult to make. I was thinking I knew who'd win, should win, but if they chose one of the kids who still made a brown log even though they were told not to, that would stink. Right at the moment they were to announce the winner, ... my recording cut off. Dang!! Of course, I went right to Twitter to find out who won, and sure enough it was Keaton. He deserved the win, it looked like a professional log and from the way it sounded, it tasted good too. Too much buttercream, Valerie? Is there such a thing?

Holiday Baking Championship:
Not sure if the people watching live will have this tonight but there were two episodes available to watch this morning. I won't spoil but will say that unlike another baking show this one handled using the traditions of other cultures in a remarkably respectful way, without the usual stereotypes and tropes. It was fun (and educational) to watch the bakers utilize their own personalities into these bakes; some bakers used elements that were similar to those in their own culture, while other wholeheartedly embraced the challenge. I have to admit it was nice to watch something like this with joy as opposed to getting angry!
