I have multiple friends who live on the Upper West Side in multi-million dollar buildings. Don't believe what you read in tabloids.

Thank you.
The vacancy rate with luxury apartments was high before the pandemic - and they are still being built. People left after 9/11, people leave cities when they get scared. But no, there is no 'mass exodus' and whatever the NY Post and other outlets are saying.
But the city is buzzing and you should see all the wonderful dining spaces that restaurants have built outside. It certainly isn't as crowded without the tourists and I have been enjoying places that are usually crowded with tourists.
You have to realize that we have a mayoral election as well as a presidential election coming up so certain tabloids will push 'NYC is burning' to push their own political agenda.

My sense is that most people who have weekend Country homes moved there at the beginning of the lockdown leaving my upper west side apartment building maybe about half full. For a while the city was pretty desolate but in recent weeks traffic has returned to the streets , traffic jams are a frequent occurrence and the noise pollution has skyrocketed. All os which strongly suggests that an exodus is not occurring. I don’t live near a u-haul rental location so I can’t speak as of direct experience that they are not busy ,but I’d be very surprised if there were lines.
And also the City has capitulated to community protest and is moving the homeless residents out of local upper west hotels to an undisclosed location somewhere else. So the stated reason for this supposed exodus no longer exists.

I walk around the city all the time (it's my exercise) and I see moving trucks, but always have. And you are right, some of my friends moved to summer houses in March and stayed through the summer but have come back.
I've read that they are putting the homeless residents from the UWS hotel to one in the 30s. However, they are displacing disabled residents to do so.
I was just sent a video, which sadly I can't post here because at the end it says to stop watching a certain news channel, where the gentleman is walking the streets in NYC in 'fear' passing people on line for ice-cream, 'It's a hellscape' and people dining outside, just cracked me up!

Thanks Beer and Cavendish for your first hand accounts! I appreciate it. I visit a Massachusetts coastal town a lot and noticed a lot of NY, NJ, CT plates when the virus first broke out. There was an increase in the population during early spring, when it’s usually very quiet. The summer was busy for that town. Two outbreaks of corona broke out from restaurant workers. Now that summer is over, it will be interesting to see if the crowds have subsided. I’m sure some people will return to their year round homes.

For what it's worth woodielog certain news outlets have been pushing the "everyone is moving out of [pick a major city] because of the Rona and ze crime" agenda. They have been saying it about Chicago as well, and while a lot of people decamped for the suburbs and summer homes in Michigan quite frankly, the people who moved out are the sort of people most of us didn't want here in the first place. There are plenty of people still here who love the city and are willing to wait it out and fight for it. I'm sure beerbelly feels the same way about NYC.
I don't live in New York but prior to the Rona I visited a lot and as a result I have a lot of links to sites/social media ran by locals. I would look at those things to see how NYC is doing, and definitely NOT the Daily Mail as they exaggerate and outright make up things for clicks/sell papers.

Any news on when this show is coming back?

It seems that bravo production doesn’t think people wearing masks make for good reality tv, so I doubt Ny reality show will air any time soon. Mask wearing is pretty ubiquitous at least in Manhattan and a lot of Brooklyn. I can’t imagine people being willing to take the risks that the Ca or Dallas women have. The wearing / non wearing of masks on these shows has been utterly nonsensical— and no one here is that naive by now. So unless they get the vaccine contra the current rules it would be surprising. None of these people is in a mandated group in NY State although you hear that some people are getting the vaccine without qualifying, from their doctors. Given that these brokers and bravo could certainly afford it, that could happen.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I watched and enjoyed. I had to laugh at Ryan getting mad at his driver for pigeons pooping on the car, only to land a sweet 18 million exclusive. On the rare occasions that birds have crapped on me I've also had good luck so there might be something to it.
It was really nice to see Kelly Bensimon healthy and happy on the show last night; apparently she's a realtor at a very exclusive real estate firm now? Very sweet.
Tyler also continues to be a sweetheart. I wish he was able to stage that apartment he had the party in last night but on the other hand there were a ton of people there.
There's a new, female realtor on the show and I liked her and hope she does well.

I really enjoyed the return last night too! I'm glad that Frederick will still be a part of it, but I'm not entirely disappointed that he's not around all the time!

Really glad to see Frederick last night! Tyler continues to be adorable. I know they represent the more upscale properties but it would be nice if they were actually attractive properties; the townhome Ryan is trying to sell really does have a lot to offer (the pool, parking spot, commercial space to rent on the first floor, etc) but a lot of upscale properties in NYC have a certain "look"...and it's boring. Give me a nice loft that previous owner was there for 30 years and is finally selling and I'd be happy!

Tyler's party looked like so much fun! Way to go to emphasis the fact that you live next to a police and fire station by having hot men dress up like fire and policemen! I also love his assistant; she's gorgeous and is always wearing something fab.
I felt kinda bad for Ryan last night when he was pitching the people for that highrise project in Brooklyn. Desperation is the world's worst cologne but the way they just busted his balloon and were like "Look, we're looking at other people and we will let you know" and the expression on his face was kinda gutting.
New Lady strikes me as someone who does things that are slightly offputting and then wonders why no one likes her. I don't blame Tyler for feeling some kinda way about her being at his party considering how she poached one of his clients to look at her property in the same building at his last event; I know all is fair in real estate but it bordered on tacky. Fortunately Tyler is a sweetheart and kept it professional and showed her the great new staging job he did on the apartment.
The shooting of the show is beginning to coincide with the beginning of coronavirus and we're seeing some changes like the calm before the storm; people talking about it, cancelling appointments, etc. Very interested on how things will unfold.
