I will give both shows a chance since I love the world of fashion. And that sounds kind of intriguing, going global. There used to be a British version of PR; I watched when I lived there. I wonder if Tim and Heidi's show will be similar? As for the real PR, I wish they would bring back Michael Kors as a judge. He was my favorite. Zac is a sweetie but he's too nice. Was that Project Catwalk? I remember Kelly Osbourne hosted it at one time. I saw one season a long time ago that I enjoyed.

Yes! It's been several years, so I just vaguely remember it. They had this one challenge where they had to create something chic in tweed for Burberry, the famous high-end tweed company. Typically British. And those judges could be snooty. I remember one asking this poor Welsh girl, "There's never been any notable person in fashion from Wales. Why is that?" Ouch.
I like it when they have foreign designers on PR. It's inspirational to hear their stories, and their different perspectives. That's why I wish Tim and Heidi the best of luck.

I've always appreciated the fact that Karlie put her modeling career on hold to go to college and is encouraging young girls in STEM so I'm okay with this. Christian will be interesting in Tim's role because he was once in the contestant's shoes and can give them good advice. And according to Nina Garcia's twitter, the designer Brandon Maxwell and former Teen Vogue editor-in-chief Elaine Weltroth all will be joining Nina Garcia for the new season. I have to see how all these people interact with each other but so far all of this looks good.

I don't know much about Karlie so I really can't speak to her at all, but I'm actually thrilled with the choice of Christian Siriano to replace Tim Gunn. I love Tim, and filling his shoes was always going to be hard. Christian will satisfy the need to have someone knowledgeable enough to provide good mentoring to the contestants with the need of the audience to have someone they are comfortable and familiar with. I think he has the personality for the mentor role, too.
The new host, judges and mentors combined with the return to Bravo have me cautiously optimistic for a great season of Project Runway!

As long as they don't fiddle with the format too much, and keep the 1 or 2 good things that were added in the Lifetime years (the up-close garment inspection by the judges, for example), then I'm cautiously optimistic as well. JUST NO MORE TWINS!

Yes, that's the big question. Are they going to go for over-the-top drama like Lifetime?
I wonder if they will have a "Karlie Save". I never minded the idea of Tim saving a designer, I just wish he didn't waste it on mediocre designers who didn't have a chance.
Christian is one of the few designers who have done well from this show. Let's see. He's insanely talented but doesn't feel the need to act like a jerk. Could that have anything to do with it?

I don't think they're going to go the Lifetime route. PR lost a lot of viewers during the Lifetime years, with untalented drama bombs of contestants being one of the top reasons why. While the occasional snide remark is okay, no one likes the contestants who constantly talk about the others while showing little talent themselves. Apparently, Cornelius still hasn't been able to find work, which I partially blame on how horrible he was on the show. And the twins should have never been casted, much less gotten away with half the things they did.

Fade Du Grey posted a picture of himself and Tim Gunn in Mood the other day on Facebook, he didn't mention that it was a throwback image plus it looked recent. I wonder if he got picked for the new show? I've always liked Fade's style and his new designs are great. With the Amazon show making certain designs (the winning design of each episode?) available for purchase off the site it could be quite a boon for him.

Any news when the Amazon show is to start? I, too, like Fade and hope he is a part of it.

I've been searching every week, but nope, no news yet.
Meanwhile, I think PR is going to start filming March 2019, with a airdate in the Fall.

Out of curiosity I dropped Fade a line asking him if he got picked for Tim's new show. He replied back with "not yet." This makes me think that:
a) He did try out, and
b) The new show is just in the casting stages, which means we'll probably see it late '19 to early '20.

I'm rewatching Season 6 and one thing I noticed is that they got rid of the conceptual, creative designers right away for a designer who could barely sew, sent unimaginative things down the runway, and admitted to picking a better designer for a group challenge so that designer could "carry him" and then proceeded to do no work. I'm really hoping that they don't do that this time around as this type of show thrives off the more creative types. I'm not talking about people who just send trash down the runway; I'm talking about the people who have a clear concept behind their work and can explain themselves. In both cases, both designers were very much ahead of their time; I can see someone like Ariana Grande wearing that silver hooded dress Ari made to the MTV awards, while Marlon's "chicken and egg" maternity sling outfit would be very much in vogue among the granola mama set of today. I would have liked to have seem more from both designers instead of the hack they saved.

I saw the first preview of Project Runway with Christian and Karlie tonight during Top Chef! It said it was "coming soon." That could mean anything from 4 to 8 months from now but I'm excited regardless.

The new show will have a new look -- Like the last several Lifetime seasons, the workroom, runway & lounges are sets in in a space in Brooklyn, as opposed to the old Parson's school in midtown. Christian gives us a tour of the new workroom (goodbye pastel walls)

WOW! It's HUGE! Well, empty it looks cavernous; we'll see what designers and fabric does to it.

OMG the new workspace is so fantastic! I love big roomy lofts, and this is such a great space for the contestants to stretch out in and get creative. I'm excited.
The blurb at the end says the show is coming Spring 2019, so April or May?

I wonder if they'll still go to Mood? I hope so. I would miss Swatch otherwise.

^ I hope so too. They've been filming in Brooklyn for a while, and they still took trips to Mood, just not every week.

I caught the name of one of the new judges: Brandon Maxwell. From what I can find he is a designer out of Texas - right? Elaine Welteroth (the one on the left) is a former editor of Teen Vogue - so a connection to fashion magazines.

Wow and Wow! I can't wait to get this started! It all sounds so interesting and that the fans can also vote (at times) for their favorite design and then it will be sold...wow.

This sounds fantastic! I especially think this is important and was missing from both versions of PR: "The prize packages now includes a mentorship with someone at the the Council of Fashion Designers of America, which Bravo describes as 'including all the tools and connections to create, grow, and sustain a business in fashion.'” So many designers (especially self-taught and ones right out of school) only know about the design aspect and nothing about the business side, so it's a great idea to include this.
edit: I just read through all the bios, and what a great range of ages, experience, etc. Several of the designers have dressed celebrities but after the twins (who designed for Katy Perry) that's not a true barometer of success, talent, or ability. I do get the impression that these people know how to sew. What can I say? After Lifetime my expectations for this show is very low; know how to sew and do interesting looks, that's all I ask!
