I love the whole dropping the other book thing. Our grandsons say, "Ut Oh" and then they do it again, and we say, "It's not an Ut Oh when you do it on purpose!" And then they do it again, of course.

I thought it said Harry was the videographer (safe at home). I thought all did a good job and keeping Archie from displaying his movement on the carpet skills. He is such a big boy, I bet he is close to walking. You can hear Harry, he's cheering at the end of the video in the link. I might not like everything they day or do, but this is about a child's first birthday..Archie's cousins apparently sung to him..

She's a nasty piece of work who has hated Meghan from day 1. I expect nothing more from someone who wrote a book about a woman who had an affair with her best friend's husband and made her the hero.

She's a nasty piece of work who has hated Meghan from day 1. I expect nothing more from someone who wrote a book about a woman who had an affair with her best friend's husband and made her the hero. The article tries to paint it like she said some nice things about Meghan at one point, but the bitterness and need for attention drips from everything she posted. I don't understand the freak out over Meghan being a part of this. She was a rather huge and important part of his birth - a mother SHOULD be a key part of a first birthday celebration - she survived the first year and that's a big accomplishment. We traditionally get a photograph on a royal child on his or her first birthday. Instead of that, we got a video where we had a glimpse of how Archie behaves, and got a little peak into how the three of them interact as a family. In much the same way that on the day he was born we didn't get the traditional steps of the hospital photo but instead got Harry beaming and over the moon talking to reporters about Archie's arrival this year we got something non-traditional but with so much more insight. I've never read an Emily Griffin book. Now I have no reason to.

No, as far as I know she's never said nice things about Meghan. Her IG/Twitter is on private now but before she would write these rants about Meghan that were horrible and made her seem unhinged. She still posts nasty things and people who follow her screencap her more vulgar rants and post them in other places online. She's a horrible, bitter person.

But Meghan wasn't acting. That's the normalcy that I found both heartwarming and confirming. She was doing her mom thing and Archie was doing his toddler thing. It was genuine and sweet - true to what we all remember experiencing with our own children, and what we are currently experiencing with our grandchildren!
A few years ago, before his siblings came along, my English MIL sent me a calendar of Kate and Baby George. I still have it, because in those pictures little George is just too stinkin' cute. He was actually a toddler by then, and so the pictures just showed him and his mother doing toddler-and-mom things. Playing ball, teaching him to blow a dandelion, etc. There's one picture where he's trying to climb a grassy hill, but you just know he'll probably tumble over. Kate is sitting bedside him in blue jeans, with her hand out to prevent that. They look any mother and toddler you would see in the park. Just too cute, I tell you!

I was reading how close George and Charlotte are, it was a very nice piece, I wish I had posted it. He's apparently very protective of her. It reminded me of how protective I was of my brother, that's how well it was written( normal, not syrupy stuff) and it reminded me of Harry and William when they were younger..

Today is the 75th anniversary of V-E Day, when Germany surrendered and WWII ended in Europe. I've been listening to a special program honoring the day on my British radio station (via the internet). They stopped just a few minutes ago for a special message from the Queen. First, they played a clip of her father, King George VI, addressing the nation on the BBC all those years ago. Then Queen Elizabeth talked about her memories of that day, about the crowds and the cheering outside of Buckingham Palace. She then addressed today's situation and said those people from WWII would be proud of their descendants today for staying strong under the stress of the virus and the difficult lockdown conditions.
I am not ashamed to admit. I cried a little.

More news about Harry and Meghan working with a charity in Los Angeles:
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been involving themselves in various philanthropic activities ever since they settled down in Los Angeles. The royal couple bid farewell to their Royal palace and duties back in April and flew to Canada with son Archie to begin a new chapter in their life. The couple announced their decision of stepping back from their senior roles in January which not only came as a shock for the Royal family but also the entire nation. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's contribution to Coronavirus relief efforts fetched them appreciation from all corners.
As reported by ET, the couple joined Project Angel Food to feed 20 families living in California with critical illnesses during the global Coronavirus pandemic. Richard Ayoub, the executive director of Project Angel Food had revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle first volunteered on Easter Sunday and requested to volunteer again the next week. "They told us they heard our drivers were overloaded and wanted to volunteer to lighten the drivers' workload," he informed. Recently, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have also volunteered at their first rehab charity of the summer, Homeboy Industries. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle extended help at The L.A. based social justice organization started in 1988 which aims at improving the lives of formerly incarcerated and previously gang-involved people, by offering to cook in the café and bakery during their time there. Yes, The Duke and Duchess joined the Homegirls and Homeboys working in the café and bakery for a session of cooking and conversation," a spokesperson at Homeboy Industries told a portal. "Together they prepared food for the #FeedHOPE program, which employs Homeboy participants to provide meals to food-insecure seniors and youth across Los Angeles in the wake of the COVID19 pandemic," he added.
The official Homeboy Industries Instagram account has shared photos of Harry and Meghan’s visit. One of the pictures shows the royal couple wearing black face masks, hair coverings, and gloves as they pose with the staff during helping them at the bakery. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle helped them with the dough and filled several containers with ready-to-go food along with them. The Homeboy Industries thanked the former royal couple for their help with the Feed Hope program and many individuals gave their statement about the same.
"It was remarkable to share our Feed Hope program with Harry and Meghan today. hey are both down to earth and kind. The staff was honored they took the time to see us, hear us and walk on our journey today. We will never forget it," the manager of the Homegirl cafe said. "With their visit, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex saw the dignity and power that comes from having a job. At Homeboy, through our social enterprise businesses, people can continue to heal and they work, learning skills and changing their lives, changing their families and changing communities," the CEO of Homeboy Industries stated. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have also been supporting the Black Lives Matter Protests that took place after George Floyd was killed by a police official in Minneapolis. George Floyd was arrested by 3 policemen on May 25 when one of them kneeled down on his neck until he lost his breath. A video of the incident went viral on the internet with millions of people coming out on the streets and expressing their anger towards racial discrimination and police brutality. Meghan Markle became the first royal to voice her opinion in the matter of protests for George Floyd's death. According to a Royal expert Katie Nicholl, "The Black Lives Matter movement matters to Meghan and it matters to Harry. They've been very busy with the COVID efforts, particularly how it's impacting on their charities. And their focus is now, I'm told, shifting onto this movement -- Black Lives Matter is something that really resonates with both of them."

Apparently it was small and select with the Queen and Prince Phillip. I happy she found a way to have her wedding with family and friends.

I was glad to see that Prince Philip was there. At 99, and being retired from all public Royal life, I think everyone worries about his health when no one sees him for a long time. I'll bet Beatrice was very proud and honored to see him there.

From the couple of pictures I saw, Beatrice looked lovely yesterday. What a sweet tribute to wear both the tiara her grandmother wore on her own wedding day, plus one of the queen's gowns reworked. Her new husband was beaming. I wish them well.

I saw the pictures on the Royal Instagram and she looked absolutely beautiful. Her grandma's dress for "something borrowed" was fantastic. Queen Elizabeth had lovely gowns in the 50s and 60s and even with the addition of sleeves it still looked great.

The archway reminded me of the Harry/Meghan wedding. What if the flowers were enchanted and reached out to grab anyone walking beneath. Watching the original Merlin series, not the new one on Netflix...more fantasy less gore.

I thought it was very considerate of Beatrice to not release her photos on Friday, but waited one day so the newly knighted guy (Tom?) could have his day in the press. He looked so happy. I guess when you're 100 concessions must be met to not have to kneel! I read he said that if he kneeled he wouldn't be able to get back up again! I also read that HM told him that her granddaughter had gotten married that morning. What a sweet everyday conversation to have with him, showing her love for her granddaughter. So glad to see both HM and Prince Philip looking so healthy.

It had to be on his mind (Philip's) too. I hope both the Queen & Prince Philip continue to have long healthy lives.

I'm rather late in coming here to comment on Princess Beatrice's wedding, but I thought her dress was beautiful, and it's really sweet that it was a repurposed dress of her grandmother's. I also thought that it was lovely that the queen let Beatrice wear the tiara that she (the queen) had worn at her own wedding.

So H&M set up a big fundraiser for the Invictus Games to help wounded soldiers, with the intended amount to be raised for the charity to be 1,000,000 pounds. It would have been streamed on Amazon in June 2021.
Then they cancelled the event last week, blaming Covid concerns.
Then they signed a deal for $112,000,000 - payable to themselves - with Netflix (one of Amazon's competitors).
Color me skeptical.

A rep from Invictus said the event needed to be reconceptualized because much of the revenue was going to come from ticket sales for the live event. They also said this was a decision made prior to the Netflix deal. They say Harry remains committed to The Games. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens over the next year.
