I haven't seen many of the movies, but I always like watching. I usually hunt down the Oscar screeners on various sites so I can see the nominees before the ceremony, but I just didn't take the time this year.
Normally I’m with you on the prepared speeches. However, hers was really good so I can get past it. She clearly had a message she wanted to deliver and did it well. She’s not in a role that does a lot of public speaking so ad lobbing May have been tough for her. She earned a moment and she used it well. I will look past the phone.
I just saw a clip of that lady reading her speech. That makes it uncomfortable to watch. I guess she thought she would forget. In school the teacher would deduct points if we read from a notecard for our speeches.
So many stunning gowns tonight! Danai = Those are NOT Michonne braids, that's for sure!
I like seeing what everyone is wearing, but this middle bit is always a bit boring. I get that these categories - and the people nominated - are important. I just don't know who they are most of the time. Because they aren't used to being in front of the camera or on stage, these speeches always feel stilted and awkward.
As anyone seen any sign of Lupita N’yongo, or heard anything about where she is? She’s been at Oscar events all weekend, and I saw an interview today with her stylist who was on her way to dress her. But when the Black Panther cast was photographed together she wasn’t there.
I wonder if Lady Gaga ever notices when there are other people in a room. I’m glad this awards season is over just to be done with her over the top acceptance speeches. I’ve had sports coaches before talk about how when you do well in a sport you should not make a big deal of it. Making a big deal shows it’s unusual. A small celebration indicates that winning is the norm for you. Lady Gaga has won enough now that she needs to act like it’s the norm and not an earth shattering accomplishment every time.
