There are more superhero shows than that...there is Legion, that new show on Freeform (Cloak and Dagger), Agents of Shield, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist...could be more, I don’t know.

It seems to me that there are an awful lot of those too. Maybe because I don't watch any of them & would rather have something else to choose from.

Well Agents of Shield is more thriller but I forgot about it. The others ... I don't watch so are off my radar. But compared to whats is considered normal fair there really are not many "super hero" shows especially on the regular networks and to be honest I would rather watch those, do laundry, clean house then watch the neverending reruns of Law and Order on every channel everywhere.

There have never been this many TV shows available, period. There certainly weren't this many 30 years ago because we had THREE channels! Fox wasn't really competition for the big three networks (ie. ABC, NBC, CBS), there was no CW/WB, and there weren't that many series on premium cable, much less on pay cable channels like AMC or TBS. There are more superhero shows than that...there is Legion, that new show on Freeform (Cloak and Dagger), Agents of Shield, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist...could be more, I don’t know. For sure. I count 14 superhero shows and I'm probably missing one or two. There have NEVER been that many cop shows on at one time. Even if you don't count the Netflix Marvel shows, it's way too many in the same genre and some of them are terrible.
There really aren't that many cop and medical shows on the air right now: SUV, Chicago PD, Shades of Blue and Blue Bloods for the police shows (maybe I missed one?) and Grey's Anatomy, Code Black (now cancelled), The Good Doctor and The Resident for medical shows. Maybe you could argue for Lethal Weapon as a cop show (although I don't consider it one) If you add in the NCIS/CSI franchises, that's a few more. So between 10 and 12, probably. Here's what I get for sci-fi/fantasy/superhero/post-apocalyptic shows (and there are many more if you really mine the various streaming platforms - I've just named a few of those): Flash Arrow Agents of Shield Black Lightning Legends of Tomorrow Krypton Supergirl Legion Cloak and Dagger Daredevil Defenders Luke Cage Jessica Jones Iron Fist The Punisher Shannara Chronicles Supernatural The Magicians The Orville Altered Carbon Colony 12 Monkeys Black Mirror Shadowhunters The Crossing The 100 Walking Dead Fear the Walking Dead Z Nation (cancelled?) Preacher Westworld Game of Thrones American Gods Van Helsing Stranger Things Continuum Lucifer The Outpost (about to premiere on the CW) The Originals Salvation Siren iZombie Wynonna Earp Star Trek: Discovery Into the Badlands The Gifted Counterpart The Expanse Gotham Killjoys
That's just off the top of my head and it's an insane number (50, for those keeping count!). There are more coming this year too.
I don't watch any show based on genre: tell me a good story and make me care about the characters and I'm in. Conversely, if the story is tired and the writing is bland, I won't watch. Some of the shows I listed are ones I watch faithfully. With others, I couldn't even make it through one episode.
While there have been MANY cop and medical dramas on TV, I'd argue that the more common genre at the moment is this sci fi/supernatural/fantasy genre. It seems like every other new show lately has some sort of sci fi gimmick. I guess that's what "the people" want; I just wish many of them were better quality than they are. Although I guess then we can discuss their cancellation in this thread when it happens!

A little late on this, but I was sorry to see that the show Six on the history channel was cancelled. They shouldn't have killed off the best navy seal character, but I was still liking the show.

The third season hasn't been as good as the previous ones, but still sorry to see it go The former bad guy now semi - but still suspicious -good guy on Timeless which was finally canceled after being held in consideration for 6-8 weeks cryptically tweeted a couple of days ago a cryptic hint about something exciting concerning Timeless. Some are questioning if Timeless is going to be given another shot in the unfortunate canceled Colony's spot.

TVLINE has an online article: Timeless Lives! NBC Revives Cancelled Drama with 'Two-Part Finale.'
To be shown evidently sometime during the holiday season, it looks like this will be 2 - one hour shows to wrap up everything, including bringing Rufus back!
The creators and writers thanked the fans for the unending noise they had made to get this done!

FX has picked up American Horror Story for a 10th season. Gosh, I'm 2 or 3 seasons behind. I'm still in the middle of Roanoke. I had to take a break from it because I got sick of the constant sexual violence they keep pounding down our throats. Enough already! I'm not a rape victim or anything like that but I just couldn't deal with it. I believe the guy in the black rubber suit is coming back for next season... gads... I do like the writing and the acting. I'm a sucker for Evan Peters and Gabby, especially. I'm also sucked into the overall story and I want to see how it's all connected. Urgh... I guess I'll just fast forward through the scenes I find as truly discomforting to me.

I guess that's part of the reason they title the show American HORROR Story --- for rape and all of the other horrors committed. What I don't understand is why so many people are drawn to so many horror and violence stories in recent years. For me, there's way too much 'real life' horror and violence in the world --- I can't watch more of it on tv or in the movies.

I really don't know why people are drawn to violence stories. I can take fictionalized movies and tv but, it's hard to get past real violence because I don't like when real-life people get real-life hurt.

I don't have a clue if it was mentioned before the move.. but CW has decided not to renew Shadowhunters. If i read correctly, there is a half season left and it will at the end of that. Not that I am overly shocked.. it had issues, but I liked the mindlessness of it at times.

As much as I thought the first season of Iron Fist was a bit of a clunker, I actually enjoyed season 2 and had high hopes for season 3. Alas, Netflix just canceled it today. No season 3. No more Tom Pelphrey as Ward It's a shame, since I felt like the show had finally gotten its feet under it in the last half of season two. They left it with so many fun possibilities for season 3.

Yeah, it is not so much a cancellation as a planned ending. Which means that, as they know they are ending, they should have the ability to wrap up everyone’s storylines as much as possible.
