Endeavour is returning for season 7 next week in the UK. It will air in the US this summer. It has been commissioned for season 8 for 2021 but sean Evans says it will be the last and he is walking away from the role while it's at its peak. It will be stopping ten years from where Inspector Morse begins. Hate to even think about the end --- but I'm really looking forward to the next season beginning!

Joan will not be in the upcoming season; sara vickers just had a baby when this season was filmed, but she will be in the last season presumably. Russell Lewis said he has already written the scene for the last time joan and morse see one another. Hopefully it will be filmed and not cut for time. I know some people hate joan, but I've enjoyed their "nearly", it's always so beautifully acted.

I always liked her, too. Since Morse is a loner, I've really enjoyed the subplots with Thursday's family. I loved the episode where Joan ran away and her father tracked her down and was begging her to come home. I also loved that epi where Joan and Morse were trapped during the bank robbery. That was really good.

Howard's End was soooo good. I'm sad that it's over. I'd highly recommend it.

This show has been a huge disappointment to me. It has been for a lot of people. I'm going to finish watching it. You won’t be as disappointed as I was, because you are aware that not everyone loved the ending. It should be easier for you to accept the “ending”. I accept it now, but did not at the time I watched it.

That ending was the only thing I remembered about the novel. Even back in college, I thought it was unfair. Poor Leonard, the working class bloke, dies a tragic death while the rich people out their comfortable lives? I get that E.M. Forster was trying to make a Very Important Point about English society, but it was still sad. And what about this widow? Did the Schlegel sisters ever do anything to help her, since they were the indirect cause of Leonard's death? I feel like I'm back in college again. Stop me before I start discussing gender and class relations in Edwardian England.

I am enjoying Sanditon but it's not quite Austin. Sidney is like a mr. Darcy/ mr. Knightley on speed. I only hope Clara is double crossing Edward and faked a will. There is no way she would settle for only a quarter of the estate. I also hope that Esther breaks away from her gross step brother and find happiness with lord babbington.

Well, Sanditon aired final episode on Sunday? Was I the only person who disliked the ending? I tried to prepare you, so that you were aware the ending was incomplete. When I watched, I had no clue and was really upset it did not have the happy Jane Austen ending. I thought the fire was completely unnecessary and contrived only so that Andrew Davies would get employment for a second season. However, PBS released this statement” “ In late February, PBS confirmed that there are currently "no plans" for a second season. "Dear #SanditonPBS fans: We want to thank you sincerely for your support during our broadcast," reads a statement released on Twitter.” in my fantasy world, I rewrote the fire out of the show and Charlotte and Sydney had their happy ever after.

I just saw an interview that the creator of the series gave with a British newspaper. I'm sorry, but I'm at work so I can't hunting for it. Anyway, he confirmed that he had hoped to do a second season and that's why he deliberately left the ending of this one ambiguous. I'm sorry, but that's just ridiculous. In today's world where you have no guarantee that your show will get renewed, it's silly to just hope and pray that it will and leave things open ended.

It wasn't well received in Britain, which is why a 2nd season won't be happening. I hated the ending and wished that young Stringer would have accepted that apprenticeship in London. I did enjoy seeing Esther come around to Lord Babbington and their wedding but otherwise too many loose ends.

I loved the transformation of Esther; that was a beautiful story. Sad for Clara, who is likely going back to her London Denham relatives where she is likely having to live in the household of her rapist uncle. I sorta hated Charlotte and sidney so I wasn't terribly disappointed in the ending. Arthur was the nicest parker and he should have won miss Lambe's heart.

In Austen’s world ....Arthur might have won Ms Lambe’s heart. But, her entire story was just left unfinished, and to me, disappointing. I loved both Charlotte and Sidney, and I was shocked by the ending. You had no hope that they would ever be reconciled. Maybe Sidney would have married the “snob” and she would have maybe died in an accident leaving all of her money to Sidney. Maybe Charlotte would have remained unmarried until Sidney became available, but we will never know because Davies chose greed over a creating a masterpiece moment. He could have skipped the fire and ended it beautifully.
I did enjoy Esther’s transformation too, and in the end.....she was the Austen heroine to receive a happy ending.

Our Iowa PBS Advance magazine shows that IA is getting 3 new mysteries series sometime this spring. We have an advance showing at the end of March (21st), but unfortunately, we won't be able to attend. I suspect the three series will begin in April or May and will be featured here on Saturday Nights. (Perhaps to replace Shakespeare & Hathaway, and Miss Fisher's Mysteries). The three "new" series are: Agatha Raisin, Frankie Drake Mysteries, and The Heart Guy. I've watched two seasons of Frankie Drake Mysteries previously on Passport. It is about 2 female detectives in the roaring twenties in Toronto. I enjoyed these cozy mysteries. Nothing terrifying, sometimes Frankie's con artist mom helps them. Agatha Raisin: I've read about 20+ Agatha Raisin books by M C Beaton. We don't subscribe to Acorn, but I found the books delightful.....Looking forward to this series. The Heart Guy is one I've never heard about. Anyone familiar with this? If you've watched any of the above series, I would be interested in your perspective. Thanks!

I like Agatha Raisin. She is a bit of a persnickety character and over the top at times, but I like the whole setup, the Cotswold village scenes etc. Nothing too gory or gruesome, all very gentle mysteries even considering most of them are murders. And all the supporting cast are great.
How is Shakespeare and Hathaway?

Shakespeare & Hathaway are mostly light, cozy type mysteries, done with humor. Nothing suspenseful, but can be intriguing. A mixture of fun and lightheartedness. Some silliness, but the actors are so likable they blend well and you quickly grow fond of them. Sounds like the Agatha Raisin tv series is following the book characters. The actress portraying Agatha’s character, looks so much more attractive and younger than I imagined from the books. Thanks! I’m looking forward to watching this series.

Itty bitty Reminder: PBS’s Call the Midwife returns for season 9 on March 29..... ETA: The show, which airs on the BBC in the U.K and US, has been renewed for two more seasons. Each season will consist of eight episodes, and there will be an additional two Christmas specials.

Well, I am not up for World on Fire beginning this Sunday, and I was looking forward to it when it was first announced. Now, I just want funny, laughter, happy thoughts; so I will stick to lighter programing for awhile. Maybe rewatch some fun shows on Netflix, and there is always the Hallmark channel for happy ending love stories.
