I'm enjoying Baptiste. Although it's quite dark and sad at times...but I loved Tcheky Karyo in The Missing, so I'm thrilled they did this spinoff.

Add me to the list of those who've taken World on Fire off of my DVR recording schedule. I watched the first two episodes. It's just too sad and depressing to watch right now.

I watched the entire season of Baptiste on Passport, once I start a series I like to see it through to completion. But, with the current times, I understand why those who normally enjoy Masterpiece Mysteries, would want to take a pass on Baptiste. Below is a sneak peak at what lies ahead in Grantchester, Endeavour, Van Der Valk (I may pass on this one), and (what I am excited to see) Miss Scarlet and the Duke. MASTERPIECE Mystery: Coming in 2020 & Beyond

Fannymare, there are 6 episodes total, and each one seemed to become more intense but, I binged watched so . I had to fast forward through a few scenes, I'm sorry to say.... but, each of us is different, in happier times I may not have needed to. Call the Midwife "Jenny" will start appearing in episode 3, that should air this Sunday, her character is a special forces detective also out to get the Romanian gang. I will say it is masterfully crafted plot and writing, with many unexpected twists and turns. I think I said "wow, I didn't see that coming" in almost every episode.

Powerful episode of Call the Midwife!!! Then, at the end when Sr Monica Joan was spreading out the blankets for the most spectacular flowers to arrive.... I was crying so much watching those moms carrying their beautiful babies..... and, then the flower and photo of the deceased baby left me sobbing. It still brings tears to my eyes, just remembering. Beautiful episode!

Thank you for that link. My mother teaches visually disabled students, so I enjoyed reading it.
On Downton Abbey, who was Margie Drew? I clicked on a link in the above article, to one entitled "DA Star Appears in CTM". It talked about somebody named Emma Lowndes, who appeared in the opener of Season 9 of CTM. Then at the bottom it said she played Mrs. Drew in seven episodes of DA. I have been racking my brain. Drew--was he a shopkeeper in the village? I'm afraid I can't remember Mrs. Drew at all. Did she do anything significant?
Yes, I know I could Google it, but it's so much more fun asking you guys.

I played Helen Keller, a seeing person, pretending not to be able to see , was the toughest thing I've ever done. So Marion fascinated me.Margie Drewe is the wife of tenant farmer Timothy Drewe.

Just like Fanny said Margie Drewe is the wife of tenant farmer Timothy Drewe, the couple that took care of Marigold. The wife became attached and Edith had a hard time getting her daughter back.

Thank you! Although I must say, the headline was misleading. Er, "Star of Downton Abbey"? And then you got to the bottom and find she was only in a handful episodes. Hmmm. A website with a click bait headline. Who would have thought? I enjoyed reading about her appearance in CTM, though. It sounded very sad.

Speaking of Downton Abbey actors on Call the Midwife, did anyone else have trouble recognizing William Mason the footman tonight on CTM? He was the one whose father was a farmer. He was injured in the war and came home to die - he married Daisy on his deathbed. He was so skinny on DA and now he's, well, not.

It might seem too short that we only get eight episodes each season but after this finale I'm okay Talk about emotionally draining - we hadn't reached half way through and I was a wreck. It's been an emotional day, I was glad of the release Best moment for comic relief Nurse Crane muttering to herself that she needs to get two vases , for Eddie and his two pregnant girlfriends. Eddie was played by Thomas Howes,(William on Downton Abbey and looked a lot plumper.) Also, this was the first time I really felt Lucille and Cyril as a couple, she's such a beauty. Trixie is the best , when Trixie.is on a mission! Sister Monica Joan on Gran's bedside as she passed, poor Val, I hated seeing her so upset. I wish a bit more time had been given Doctor McNulty's plot but the episode was already juggling three other plots. I loved a 99, it was such a treat as a kid, and then they ended with guy fawkes night and sparklers. I think I read there's no Christmas special this year, I'll sure miss these lovely ladies.

There is still a plan for Seasons 10 and 11, not just anytime soon though, due to covid. I love every episode! While I thought Eddie looked familiar, I never guessed he was "William"! Thanks for the info Critical and Fanny! A little blurb about the Finale and again, confirmation on Seasons 10 and 11....in the future. link

He's almost unrecognizable, IMO. My mom said, "It's probably all the bacon sandwiches."
With so many productions shut down, I won't be surprised if they don't end up doing a Christmas special this year. I think the 2020-2021 TV season is going to be very different than what we're used to.

My husband is English. We lived in York in northern England. Eating a 99, watching the fireworks on Guy Fawke's Night...ah, good times. It's ironic, because DA is also set in northern England. We left before the show started airing, but we did travel to places mentioned in the show such as Thirsk. I always assumed Highclere Castle (where they film the show) is up north, but Mr. Red just informed me that it's at the other end of England.
I just looked it up. On the website for Highclere, you can see last year's Christmas. You can also download an app where Jim Carter (Carson from DA) will take you around the house and talk about it. Just in case you're missing your Brit TV fix.

Bonnie from this episode was in endeavour as the girl reporter who pinched Morse's notebook in "game ". I thought the season ended lackluster. Except for maybe val's storyline , everything else just felt rushed. The dr. McNulty storyline started out interesting and then it just felt the writers didn't know what to do with him.

Been rewatching Season 5 of Endeavour. Just finished Episode 3 - Passenger. Joan invites Morse to her “flat warming.” He arrives and she takes him up to the roof for a look at the beautiful view. Joan says, “It’s the view I fell in love with.” Morse is quite a ways behind her and simply replies, “Yes” as he’s focused only on her and couldn’t give a squat about any other “view.” Sigh. Joan then proceeds to tell him about her friend that she’s going to fix Morse up with. So heartbreaking. Morse loves Joan so much, but alas, it’s not to be. Breaks my heart every freakin time I watch it.

Is anybody else watching Beecham House? I love it. The costumes are gorgeous, the setting is lovely, and Tom Pane is ridiculously handsome. What's not to love? Also, Lesley Nichol (Mrs. Patmore from Downton Abbey) plays his fussy yet oddly sympathetic mother.

Endeavour Season 7 on Masterpiece airs Aug 9, 16, and 23 reminder! "In Season 7, Endeavour and his colleagues enter a new decade and era of change. Opening on New Year's Eve 1969, normal order has been resumed and the team has been reunited at Castle Gate CID, with Chief Superintendent Bright back in charge. However, the events of the past year have left their mark: old friendships will be challenged, and new relationships will blossom."
