My thoughts....well, he is not a very nice politician is he? I mean I wouldn't want him as my leader. But, how bad is he, will he get his just rewards? This is compelling enough for me to watch. In a fantasy world, he would be the bad guy that loses in the end to the good guy. But, If he doesn't I will be pretty disappointed. So, I have to watch a little bit more to see if minister sleazy will get booted or not. Honestly, I love Hugh Laurie so even if I don't like dwelling on dirty politics; I am watching because he is such a fine actor. Plus, it's nice to listen to him speak/act in his native tongue. I think the cast is great also, Helen McCrory outstanding!! It's English politics, lots of boinking going on...

Roadkill: just when he thinks he won it all......he discovers how much he has lost. Great ending!

Roadkill: Charismatic leader who ruthlessly manages to move through every bump in his life as if he is immune to karma. He has public approval because he spins every flaw into an asset reflecting his humanity. I enjoyed the ending because it was obvious he was finally not going to simply move through his Prime Ministry any better than his predecessor. He was always a puppet under control, every obstacle was seamlessly removed for him by his controllers. The one thing he needed to take care of, would not be accomplished. Final scene showed defeat. (Well to me, my interpretation). I didn’t think I would care much for this series because his character is a little sociopath. Or, a lot. He smoothly moves through life free of guilt or remorse . He gets away with everything, and he thinks he has it all, and then...... you know it will all come crashing down. This was nothing like what I thought it would be at all, and were it not for the series that preceded it (The Trouble with Maggie Cole), I’m not sure I would have watched it.

Spoiler for Christmas SpecialThis was absolutely, one of the best CTM Christmas specials. I cried and I laughed. Nurse crane on the trapeze was priceless, I knew when she got to the tent, something was planned. I love Phyllis and Mildred together, the dinner without any bath cubes! Shelagh calling out the babies names , was beautiful, and I believe the actress was moved to tears herself. I adore Reggie, his one liners always hit the nail on the head. This is always part of our Christmas day, and it didn't disappoint..

It was really wonderful, I loved it even more than usual because I knew that they recorded this during a pandemic. How wonderful, that the actors, the writers and directors brought us a much needed sweetness, when we needed it most!
Me too Fanny, laugh out loud one minute and crying tears of joy the next. Shelagh calling out the names of each of the babies that did not survive, gave her friend the opportunity to grieve, and to reconcile the loss of her treasured babies.
I say this every year, I know....but, this really was the best Christmas Special!

I enjoyed a few laughs, especially the Turners and the turkey! I actually didn't recognize Peter Davison! I kept thinking it was him, but I guess my mind is still stuck in the 80s with the young Doctor.

I loved the Call the Midwife Christmas special! I felt so bad for Trixie though! I wish the dentist would re-enter her life. I guess she broke up with him because he was divorced? She's definitely not religious, but I guess that in itself was a big taboo back then? Ready for the Spring season!!!!! I'm actually really ready for all the new shows for the new year! Masterpiece theater is my little treat during the week while my kids are napping (IF they nap!). Especially this year when everyone is home all the time! I look forward to watching whatever new show aired !

The dentist’s daughter was having issues/acting out due to her parents splitting. So Trixie took a step back so that he could dedicate himself to his daughter in her time of need. I did like the dentist though so it would be nice if he came back. But I wonder also if it was because they (the writers) don’t want to marry Trixie off and have her leave Nonnatus House. Because it’s also a bit weird that no mention has been made of Lucille and her beau’s future - they’ve been together a while so you think there’d be mention of it - but it’s more understandable if you think they want to keep the cast/living situation as is. I did miss Valerie. I wonder, with the mooted expansion, we’ll get a new midwife or two next season. Maybe one of the young doctors will come back as well.

They continued filming the series new season, following filming this special. They just went right on recording because they didn’t know if they would have another chance during this pandemic.. I don’t know how far they got though.
According to Radio Times: “ Series 10 of Call the Midwife will air on BBC One later in 2021.
Call the Midwife would normally return in January. However, filming was delayed for five months by coronavirus, so – although production on the new series is ongoing – it won’t be ready in time to air in it usual slot.”
Also, regarding Trixie, she needed to go to rehab for 6 months because Helen George was pregnant, and it was becoming difficult to hide her bump. Personally, since her real life partner is Jack Ashton (Rev Hereward who married Nurse Barbara), I wouldn’t be surprised if Trixie has failed relationships until this series end. I would be happy to see them come together for the finale. When this series ends I want happy endings and satisfied endings for everyone. Rev Hereward was her beau before he fell in love with Nurse Barbara. (Jack left the series to spend time with their beautiful daughter Wren.) So, it wouldn’t be a far stretch for Reverend Hereward to return and become reacquainted with Trixie, whose character has grown much through the years.

I do think they will need to introduce another nurse to replace Valerie.

On 31 July 2020, Jackson won the BAFTA TV award in the leading actress category for her performance in Elizabeth Is Missing. (It was broadcast in the UK a year ago.) She also just won International Emmy Awards on November 23, 2020 Best Actress for this performance. It should be outstanding. I watched a 2 minute scene and wanted more, more, more. I know! I feel everyone in both of our countries should watch it, to soothe our hearts over the past year, and this past week. I need to escape to a place of sweetness, humor, compassion and kindness. I talk a lot about my animals, my sparrows taking dirt baths, my rabbit who likes carrots and brussel sprouts . They calm me, just watching them. I understand watching the news, but glued to it 24/7 is not good for our mental health. This show will provide some joy and it's brand new!

I've only been to London for a quick layover en route to Madrid, so I hadn't realized that some parts of Great Britain get a lot of snow. I love the housekeeper and of course James, who is a love. I'm so looking forward to the next episode.

Loved, loved, loved "All Creatures Great and Small."
Was intrigued . . . and then frightened . . . by "Elizabeth is Missing." As a woman in her 70s who is becoming forgetful, Glenda Jackson's characterization of the reality of Alzheimer's terrified me. It is my worst fear. I reminded hubby that if I get like that, I do NOT want him trying to deal with me at home without a significant amount of professional help. And if it gets much worse, I figured I wouldn't be aware of it, so he should put me in a care home.

Sending you hugs AZ Glenda Jackson was amazing in it, but “Elizabeth is Missing” was difficult to watch. I did really enjoy the early interactions between Maud and Elizabeth, as well as, Maud and her granddaughter. Especially when the granddaughter told Maud that Maud could talk to her anytime about Maud’s sister Suki (a topic Maud’s daughter didn’t want to hear about.) The granddaughter helping her grandmother with the post it notes (“be sure to date them”) was neat too.
